DEADLIFTS: ( off 4 inch blocks) 5 pro fsl
Pendlay rows: 4 working sets
Lever squats: 4 working sets.
Standing cable crunches: 5 sets.
Since i really don’t know who actually reads
The stuff I post on this log. I feel i need to clarify a few things regarding my training philosophy.
-
I veiw myself as a " powerbuilder" my goal being strength and hypertrophy. ( at the moment getting the lard off my fat ass…)
-
I need to clarify that I mentioned 5/3/1 … even though i utilize it for my core foundational lifts. I approach my assistant work differently. ( in other words dont look at me as a templete to run the damn thing)
Thats it for now.
Im readopting to a extent the philosopy( ala Louie Simmons) of "building " the Deadlift. Conventional pulling off the floor does shit all for me. Its definitely not a builder for me for various reason. At most its a tester.
So im going to start pouding the shit out of things that either carryover or works muscles involved in the Conventional dead . Along with building back a strength base.
Good mornings
GHR’s
Lever squats( more direct quad work)
Pendlay rows( along with the rest of my upper back work)
Ill still be pulling weekly but not from a conventional height using these…
Lets see if i can get the ball moving again
This is the approach that works for me, and I always stupidly move away from it, because as Dan John says “It worked so good I quit doing it”.
The deadlift is a strength displayer: not a strength builder.
Yeah amazing how that works…
On my end its been a matter of second guessing shit.
Plus subconsciously my lack of enjoyment for the Dead doesnt help … so i guess its became lack of a priority.
It occured to me it might be in my best interest to start taking in a higher % of my daily alloted cals earlier in the day on the days i lift.
Ha Ha Ha
Well… i sorta broke my own rule about buying things for the gym. That is buying somthing that doesnt have multiple functions.
You’re as bad as I am when it comes to Titan equipment.
It’s never too late to give up, and give in to endlessly collecting vintage chest expanders (like me)! Based upon that, I would say that you’re still in an acceptable spot…
Well what can I say? Could be worse… if it was Rogue equipment id have to mortgage my home.
Strong, smart man.
Lets be honest in most cases both brands are comparable. Im not interesting in buying for brand name sakes.
Viking press: 5 pro fsl… did these utilizing the lever squat. Had to drop some weight i had been using from the set up i was using before hand.
Close grip bench( using elitefts shoulder saver) 4 working sets
Rolling tri extensions : 3 working sets
Pull downs: 3 working sets
Seated cable row( used strap handles) : 3 working sets. Been years since ive done seated cables .
Kelso shrugs: 3 working sets
Decided this cycle going back to doing 5/3/1 . Since my strength is still pretty low using 3/5/1 model isnt needed.
I finally had a face to face follow up regarding my prostate with the specialist.
He clarified i only have Benign prostatic hyperplasia… emphasis on the Benign.
Regarding the cyst they found apparently it probably something thats been there for years… implying i was probably born with it.
I hope you can get that resolved soon.
