Well, there’s that aspect.

In my case she will say either that 1. Im taking too long or 2 it doesnt look as professional as she would have liked.
Back looks great! Selfie taking not so much ![]()
Agree with chicken, back looks the business
Wide. Looking god.
Ready for kitchen. You can do it.
At this point I would rather put my penis in a toaster.
I actually was wondering how the kitchen was going…
Still laughing here, but I do think you can do the kitchen.

I’m just catching up… but to all of you DIY encouragers: you’re forgetting how much your time, stress, and suffering is worth.
I’m lucky and I can work some “off duty” jobs at work and make $30-40 an hour playing security officer. As soon as that became an option for extra money I started counting my time as being worth $30/hr. So I figure that into my costs for any home project. If it’s going to take me 30 hrs then I can just pay someone that $900 to do it in 10 hrs and it’ll probably look better.
I’m with @bulldog9899; hire a pro. I gutted a lathe and plaster bathroom at our old house and did all of the rough finish work. We moved and once we closed on the new house I hired someone to finish it. I recently bought a rental property and found myself in WAY over my head. I went over there to start chipping away at the work myself and after two very short days I quit. The stress it was causing me was not worth it. I was physically ill because it was an overwhelming task. That’s all due to my poor decision making abilities apparently (thought it needed a little work—turns out it needs rebuilt from the inside out).
Short story long… don’t forget to add in the cost of your time when considering hiring someone else!
EDIT: The lesson I learned is to never buy a house built with lathe and plaster walls and knob and tube wiring.
Bulldog, don’t be a wuss. If you got the door in–and it works properly-- you can install cabinets. Let a counter top guy do counters.
For the record…IF I have to do the Kitchen. There will Be several things I will do and not do.
- Any electrical work…wont do it.
- Dry wall Hanging it and mudding. I hug dry wall already in one of the bed rooms and it was a nightmare because the house has settled and nothing is squared . I can not mud dry wall worth a Damn.
The kitchen will be a complete gutting job the only thing remaining will be floors since the plaster on the walls and ceiling needs to be removed (ugh) cannot wait dealing with all the blown in insulation.
At this point… im thinking of contracting maybe 50% out. If I move onto the Kitchen.
No rocket science here, just planning everything and waiting for specialists to show up. Youtube’s a great source for installing kitchen cabinets and about anything else you want to do in the renovation. I’d check on the local codes for remodeling first though. Might have to have a permit.
I think a door is harder to install than kitchen cabinets.
