Bulldog : Coming Back ON HOLD

I agree with K.I.S.S! I see you ramp up to a heaviest set instead of straight sets. Right now I’m doing 3 sets of 10 then the next week 3 sets of 9 but 10 lbs heavier and so on until I reach my heaviest week at 3 sets of 1. Then start over at 3 sets of 10. I’m only 4 cycles into this and it’s working so far. I do bench, deads and squats twice a week. The second workout is lighter than the first but the same sets and reps.

My opinion is if what you are doing right now is working for you and your seeing progress then your good and I wouldn’t change anything. I wouldn’t even entertain the thought until you stop seeing progress after a few weeks.( Some guys freak out when they have a bad week or two of training and want to jump ship.)

Even after you hit a wall a small tweak might be all that is needed to get the ball rolling again. The only major thing I would suggest is try to look up someone in your area who has a clue and have them look at your lifting form on the big 3.

But that makes too much sense!! Sometimes I get caught up in over thinking things. I have been looking for someone with some experience but no luck so far. So far at the local gyms I’ve been told that deadlifts will kill my back and squats will kill my knees. I am very fortunate to have most things I need in my basement so I don’t make it to the fitness centers very much.

I figure you have two options… Id suggest you could pick up Starting Strength by Rippetoe. It will at least help develop proper form. (side note) My squat form is slightly different then what “Rip” might suggest.

Or

Try to find a local Meet being held in your area and get to know a few of the lifters to try to network

good one…Actually the post was a joke regarding myself certain people are aware of…

Well I might as well come out and say it… My Doctor is advising me that I should consider going on TRT due to my low T levels. Along with the symptoms that I have been noticing for awhile. The whole thing is just FUCKED right now.

Will the TRT make you stronger too? Maybe there might be an upside.

Well changed a few things up for my 14 year old. Started him on a short 5 week Peaking cycle for his first Meet at the end of June.

Squat: 2 x 10 x Bar
95 x 5
140 x 5
155 x 4
170 x 3
185 x 2
205 x 1
215 x 1
230 x 1 ***
Pause squats: 2 x 3 x 165

Dead lifts: 135 x 5
160 x 4
190 x 3
220 x 2
235 x 1
245 x 1
3 x 3 x 190

*** All singles were sub max weight
Pretty easy session for him as I had planned.

who knows… My T level is less then half of where the Doc would like to see me at. Im sure it will have a positive effect on things but not huge. Not at the levels I might be receiving.

Well … Jumped back on the wagon after spending last week with a infection involving a VERY critical area. Pretty much screwed my whole peaking cycle up.

warm up: PVC pipe , light stretching and shoulder mobility work.

Squat: 2 x 10 x bar
2 x 5 x 135
185 x 3
225 x 3
290 x 5
320 x 4
360 x 3…Hamstrings started cramping
390 x 2
430 x 1
450 x 1
480 x 1…ugh , felt heavy

Pause squats: 2 x 3 x 345

Deadlift: 135 x 5
225 x 3
315 x 2
430 x 1
450 x 1
480 x 1… hamstrings said go Fuck yourself.
3 x 3 x 345

Standing Band crunches: 5 x 10

Not a good session… Between getting over the infection and the first training session in 80 plus degree weather it sucked.

Hate to hear about the infection. I’m training in close to 90 degree weather so I feel you there, the humidity is a killer. You are still lifting some heavy weights and a lot of good volume. Good work.

Thanks… all things considered I should have been happy that the session wasn’t a bust

PUP

Bench : 2 x 10 x Bar
100 x 5
115 x 4
125 x 3
135 x 2
150 x 1
155 x 1
165 x 1
120 x 13
Incline: 2 x10 x 95
DB rows: 4 x 12 x 65

OLD BASTARD

Bench: 2 x 20 x Bar
95 x 10
2 x 5 x 135
215 x 5
240 x 4
265 x 3
290 x 2
320 x 2
330 x 1
355 x 3… did 3 for shits a giggles
255 x 15…had some left in the tank but didnt want to grind
Incline: 2 x 12 x 185… shoulder was starting to feel off didnt want to risk going heavy
Skull crushers: 125 x 6…felt petered out

Not a great session for me shoulder still is feeling 100% from injuring it slightly 2 weeks ago.

Slight tweak is now becoming chronic …dropping out of Meet to heal.

Good to know yourself and be cautious to come and lift another day.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder and the meet. That’s wise to heal up though as there’s always another meet but only one shoulder. Well, you’ve got two of them technically…
