Makes me sad since that’s the boat I’m currently in.

I am very interested in following how changing your body comp affects your lifts. There definitely comes a point where the extra weight isn’t doing a person any good in terms of strength gains and is quite possibly a negative in other aspects of life.

Where is your October meet? NASA again, eh?[/quote]

  • Well at least you have a good reason Little Lady…most people don’t squat ( at least properly) or dead not due to some physical issue like yourself right now. Its because they are to damn lazy or are just weak mentally.

  • At the start im mentally prepared for a drop in strength as I drop the calories and increase my conditioning during the period ive set aside for myself. After words the only negative effect I can for see( as long as I don’t lose to much actual lean tissue) will probably be a slight change in leverage on squats maybe, due to decrease in actual waist girth.

  • Yep NASA again…

Honestly , don’t have much of a option since USAPL isnt doing a damn thing in Indiana right now.
At this point Dave Basler will be doing it also since its more or less in his back yard.

Squat/pull session week 1
warm up: Pvc and light stretching

Squat: bar x 2 x 10
135 x 2 x 5
185 x 3
240 x 5
275 x 4
325 x 3
355 x 2
375 x 1
395 x 1
420 x 1

Pulls from blocks: 135 x 5
210 x 5
250 x 3
315 x 1
365 x 1
415 x 1

Deads : 3 x 5 x 305

3" elevated stiff legs: 10 x 225

Standing band ab crunches: 5 x 15

Pretty easy session not surprising since it starts out light. On a good note , first time in several weeks where my hips didnt feel gummed up so everything was tracking the way its suppose too.

Week 1 peaking cycle for Meet

warm up: Light DB/band movements
Bench: Bar x 20
95 x 10
135 x 2 x 5
180 x 5
210 x 4
245 x 3
270 x 2
285 x 1
300 x 1
320 x 1
250 x 21…rep 21 was a grinder and it sucked ,might have gone overboard on that one.

Incline Bench: 275 x 8/ 225 x 8…payed for going over board

Behind the neck press: 2 x 8- 10 X Some weight

Push downs: 3 x 12 x 140 ? used the stack but it seemed pretty light to be 140 lbs

Not a bad first session , Benching felt odd at first since I haven’t done regular bench in almost 8 weeks. It took several sets for me to reastablish my proper groove. Luckily , my left elbow has calmed down and dint give any trouble, definitely will get out the ibuprofen and ice to head off any inflammation which might pop up.

Looks like a good start to the meet cycle. You’ve got better shoulders than me if you can stick with the behind the neck press.

All things considered it wasnt bad. Like I commented in the post ,I only done flat bench once since the last Meet. So my groove was a little off , Regardless the last single set with 320 felt pretty freaking light. I brought it down a paused it for a 10 count ( no exaggeration).

I don’t know if my shoulders are better. I’m just being damn conservative on BTNP’s. I’m going light relative to what I’m capable of and keeping the reps higher. Along with not using anything to brace my upper body against which I feel allows things to move freely and not putting anything in a bind.

T Bar rows : 6 X 10 X 4-45’s @ 25
Got a new handle to do these from Elitefts

Definitely different, the change pretty much fried my lats and upper back.

Close grip pull downs: 3 x 10 x some weight…I was going to do some pull ups , as I stated above my shit was pretty much crushed.
Shrugs: 2 x 15 x 405. 405 x 10…running low of juice
EZ bar arm curls: 2 x 10 x some weight.

Wasn’t a super session, on the other hand it wasnt that bad. Pretty much im dragging ass due to not getting enought sleep the past two nights and eating like shit.

That handle looks awesome, so simple surprised this handle isnt found around in gyms.

250x21…ummm think you did enough reps???

The last set of bench was definitely overkill…I should have left a few in the tank. Its a little early in the peaking cycle for being stupid . Next week I will keep it in check and save it for the third week.

Squat/Deads session week2 of peaking cycle

Warm up: Allot of rolling on PVC pipe
light stretching
10 minutes tradmill

Squat: BarX 2 X 10
135 x 2 x 5
185 x 3
240 x 5
275 x 4
325 x 3
380 x 1
395 x 1
430 x 1…Got a wild hair since the amount I was working with wasnt that heavy and decided to paused it in the hole for a specific period of time. Might pay for it tomorrow.

4 " Block pulls: 135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 2
365 x 1
440 x 1

Deads from floor: 4 sets of 3 X 330…these are pretty light at this point. Made sure to focus on the bar speed.

Elevated stiff leg deads: 250 x 10
Standing band ab crunches: 5 x 15

Not a bad little session.

Paused squat looked real strong.

I could do the 430 with a pause too. Of course the pause would be a permanent one as I was crushed under the weight. Strong stuff, bulldog.

Ill take it…Actually im more happy of doing it without a belt on. Definitely think my actual core strength is increasing considering how easily I was able to hold my torso position.

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it. But in reality im a ways off strength wise to deserve the praise.

We can always be stronger, but 1. You’re stronger than me, 2. You’re working on getting stronger, and 3. You’re stronger than 99% of guys your age and even most younger guys. Anybody that picks up the iron to better themselves deserve some respect.

Again thanks for the compliment. When I finally hit a Elite Total drug free and unequipped then Ill except the compliment …maybe.

I will agree that someone whom does something to better themselves ( not just physical) just for themselves and not for the acceptance of others deserves respect. So on that , I tip my hat to you sir.

Dude I finished reading War and Peace by the time you got up from that pause squat…SOLID!

LOL…I didnt mention it and didnt log it but I did another one before that with 430 for a insane amount of time and could get it back up.

Excuse the Buffalo shot…

Oldest wanted to lift today…

Thinking about getting my oldest, 13 yrs, into lifting after the football season is over.

Good Idea. I think 13 is a pretty good age to get them started.
