Bulldog and Bullpup Log Part 2

UGH!!!I will say that im feeling it from yesterday. Luckily not in the joints but in the actual muscles. My pecs and triceps are lit up right now like the 4th of July. The high volume was definitely a shock to the system.

5X10 is an ass kicker, especially if you’ve been training lower reps for a bit. It’s a nice change of pace for sure.

That’s no lie. Its going to be weeks before I’m even using anything close to 85%.Its going to be interesting to see how Ill respond to using a higher rep range. My luck ill end up adding more weight to my frame…

Well, the Sheiko definitely whacked me. Solution: lots of protein, fish oil & other supplements, and lots of sleep.

maybe it will put some size on those legs… you could use a little there

Nice thing about this is as I progress threw the waves the volume drops as the intensity rises.

I sorta addressed that in a earlier post…Smart ASS!!

sounded as if you didnt want the size. I am excited to see if this extra volume helps with your lat cramping during meets.

I won’t mock your wheels because you can currently squat somewhere between 2-1/2 to 3 of me.

Ill take the size…if that size is a increase in my hips and thighs to help improve my leverage.Like I stated a few post ago I have noticed a gradual decrease in those areas.

Thanks…

11/2/11
Accumulation phase 10’s wave

warm up: a damn lot

Squat: bar x 10…All sets done without belt
135 x 5
225 x 1
275 x 10,10,10,10,12

GHR…OH Hell No,Left hamstring cramped up on second rep

GM’s 3 x 8 x 135 …did these damn strict

Standing band crunches: 5 x 10

Wasn’t as bad as I thought. For one I didnt pull my groin like I did last year on my first squat session after a Meet. I will say I was sucking some major air on the last set. I got a feeling that walking might be a issue tomorrow.

Bulldog congrats on your meet. Keep up the good work. I was reading your over 40’s worries, I’m over 45 still going strong. Age is just a number brother-believe it.Just do your mobilization work, its key. Stay in the gym…stay young. Like you I’ve got a son doing youth football and I’m coaching-what a blast.

Love the dogs, I’m a lab guy myself, got two of 'em, part of the family.

I never got a chance to congratulate you on your meet. You did really well. It also looks like you had a lot of fun. It’s great when you finally get over a hump.

First welcome. Trust me I stay with the mobility work as much as possible other wise I become a train wreck of pulled muscle and angry joints. Rolling on a PVC pipe has become a second job.

Youth Football Coaching?..Cool. Word of advice just stay out of the actual management portion of your league.Trust me ,it takes the fun out of coaching.

Yeah my wife is a Lab lover. But,we agree at this point it wouldn’t be fair to keep one right now due to the lack of space to actually exercise it and are busy schedule.

Well thank you little lady
Yeah the damn squat and bench hump in Meets was about to send me over the edge. I knew I had the physical ability to hit those number for a long while it was just a issue of getting my mind to actually believe it.

I will be honest, after looking back it probably was one of the funnest Meets Ive done to date because I went into it without putting any pressure on myself.

Well I guess BP turned a Sophomore into his BITCH last night at wrestling practice…HEE HEE
I know im being a ASS. I cant help it ,I like the idea of my 8th grader being allowed to work with the High school team and him being able to hold his own to a certain degree. what I like more is the fact that hes been pared with a Sr. who is BP own weight whom is working the hell out of BP. Its going to be interesting to see how he will do when he faces kids his own age during his Jr High season.

Thanks for the welcome. You are right about the politics in youth sports-def not my scene. I do love working with the young lineman. My boy is an offensive tackle just like I was a million years ago. Nice to hear about the wrestling-tough sport.

Same here I coach Line and defense. this was my 5th year doing it. Worst thing wife and i did was getting involved in the actual management of the organization. It took the fun out of it. If anything Ive learned that the only thing wrong with youth sports are the adults.

Aint that the truth. Some of these guys are trying to relive their youth through their kids. My sons about to turn 12 and he’s big for his age 5’6 155 lbs. At what age did you start your boys on a lifting program if you have? I was thinking about a 3 day per week total body workout, keeping the reps at 10 plus and focusing on deadlifts, squats, bench and military press. Any ideas?
