In Building the Monolith are you able to switch the Press and Bench Press?
Nope
How did you like this routine for size?
Hated it, but it worked well, haha.
Haha. Thanks I’m going to start it Monday to put on some size and hopefully strength.
I did giant sets for as many of the lifts as I could and ended up gaining a few pounds and losing an inch or two on my waist. It’s decent for strength, but that’s not the focus of the program. Just make sure you have the correct TMs for this program. I used 85% for all four, but if I had it to do over, I’d use closer to 80 for squat and DL, 85 for bench and a little closer to 90 for press. It really depends on how advanced you are as a lifter though.
Yeah I know it’s more size oriented, but I have read a lot of ppls reviews of the program and all of them had some good strength gains. How were your size gains?
They were great for my experience level and the time frame. You need to eat a lot. A lot. I ate a shit load of eggs, steak, beef, sweet potatoes, veggies and protein shakes (with milk, peanut butter, bananas thrown in). Your diet will determine the results of the program (assuming you’re putting in the necessary effort lifting). Just look at the program, there’s zero chance it won’t put size on you if you’re eating enough and recovering. I usually did some light prowler work on Saturday and some Airdyne or regular biking or weight vest walking on as many off days as I could. Again, I’d recommend having your TMs set so that you don’t end up grinding reps on the main barbell work. It’s already a lot of work, and you don’t want to use up extra recovery resources grinding out weights that are too heavy. Good luck. Run it right, and you’ll get great results.
