Building a thicker Physique

I’ve been training for 6 months. I’ve noticed that im growing broader around the shoulders (which is great for most people!). But I’m looking to have more of a thicker and slim body type, with minimal broadness. The only information ive been able to gather via the internet is to switch to hammer grip (neutral) bench pressing and close body presses.

Any other advice?

Thicker and slim body is contradictory.

6 months is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Changing you grip wont do much right now.

And to be helped, we need way more info. Diet, program, age, height, weight, etc

Didn’t the v-diet workout used to have a variation where you choose to focus on either depth or broadness? I might be totally mixing this up with something else. (and couldn’t find it)

Deadlifts and rows.

Any pictures of someone with your ideal physique might help as well, as I can’t exactly imagine what thicker and slim body is. Do you mean like the stocky build with thick waist?

^X2. If we can get a better idea of what you’re working with, and what you’re after, we can discuss if it’s simply a matter of exercise selection, genetics, or just not enough time under the weights yet.

What does this mean and who doesn’t want wider shoulders? It makes the waist smaller. This is good

Thickness. Front. Anterior delts and upper pecs. Upper pecs needs to be growth on everybody for the most part. Traps and mid back to thickness up from the back. Shrugs and rows. Use different angles. And some variation of overhand rows pulling to your sternum area forcing your scapula back

Olympic lifts w/ low reps. And great attention to diet.

Look into CT’s articles/sub forum. He favors muscle “density”.

Thickness, density… look bro, you can do high pulls and row till your arms fall off, focus on MMC and micromanage every single rep — you’re just not going to get the “look” of someone who’s been moving heavy weight in various different planes for a decade or longer, or in this case, emulate the mid trap thickness of someone who’s been deadlifting seriously for several years by using some clever MMC tips and tricks and/or spceial movements.

AAS can help you get “that look” a LOT faster (see duhast’s progress pics from this site) but nothing beats TIME (years) moving weight. Keep in mind that CT spent several years moving heavy ass weights from ground to overhead.

Width… check your clavicle width to see if you can do anything in that department, and if not, train side delts with heavy overhead work and/or side delt raises to milk all you can fron the side and rear delts.

Heavy Multi Joint lifts for years on end will help build Density. Which I believe was your goal while not getting too Bulky ?
Maybe you heard of the tale of those “old school” bodybuilders who always seemed to look “thicker” because they did
the heavy lifting compared to those who lifted only for size… ?

Am I on track here ?

Thanks for the advise so far. You guys have phrased it better by using the word density.
