Builder's Competition Quest

Some back shots as promised.I should be leaning back more in the rear lat but I was having trouble finding light that didn’t black out my lower back.

Wow! 162, you may make the lower weight class after all.

Definitely can relate to the body temperature issue; the decrease in bodyfat and lower intake of calories makes a huge difference in metabolism and body temp. I felt cold often as well.

The actual article is called:

It may help with what to do on show day, it helped me.

Best of luck! You look great.

Sorry that was a typo, haha 166.2! I only went down .4 lbs so its not looking like I will chase the lower class, but I still have 2 days so who knows.

Thank you I will read up! I am actually surfing at this moment trying to compile info.

Update:

Forgot to weigh myself this morning first thing, but when I did about an hour and a half after waking I weighed in at 165.6. It will come down to tomorrow morning to decide whether or not I am going to chase the Welterweight Division.

I applied my first coat ever of “spray tan” with the assistance of my lovely wife and wow does this stuff make a difference in appearance. I am attempting to get some kind of base going as I do not have much time Friday to do many coats. I am hoping it doesn’t all wash off in the meantime. I still plan on having a hot bath to get rid of some extra water in the evening before the show.

I will try and post some pics later after my posing session. Stay Tuned!!

Builder: just wanted to comment that when I saw your first post and the pic, I thought “I don’t think I am going to be too impressed with the end result with this guy”. Not sure why, but that was my initial impression.

Man, was I wrong. You look fantastic and the progress you’ve made is staggering. We kinda/sorta have similar builds in the leg and waist department and I thought that would only be highlighted when you leaned out. It’s the opposite though: your upper body looks nice and tapered and your legs look larger. You look huge now compared to your original pics.

Bottom line: fantastic job. You’ve really stuck it out and it’s paid off big time. Best of luck this weekend… but I don’t think you’ll need it.

Got some tan on finally and got some shots from this afternoon. I will be doing one more posing session tomorrow and if my weight is over the limit I set for myself to go for the Welterweight gamble then it will be carb up time!

Thank you, I definitely surprised myself with the transformation as well. I will take the luck non the less just in case it comes down to the wire for a placing  haha

Looks solid. Really solid.

Thank you!

Looking awesome dude, good luck.

Ya builder i’ve been following along and just wanted to say what a great job you’ve done. The changes from the start of this to now are amazing.Being someone that has never competed i love and learn so much from these comp threads.Good luck to ya but i don’t think you will need it.

Thanks everyone!

I wanted to post up a quick update as well:

So I woke up at 163.6 lbs, I set a limit of 164 for chasing after the Welterweight division so my decision was made for as I stepped on the scale. I will go against all logical preparation to chase the class and start my carb up after the weigh in. I will attempt to sleep most of the day and feel like this is where working night shifts all these years will finally pay off. I should have no problem making the class but the compromise is definitely risky. This is a gamble that could make or break me so stay posted! If nothing else I will still have some great opportunities for photo shoots afterward haha. Even though I am 7 days depleted I still dont look too bad, in fact I am pumped about how good I look even now. Once I get some carbs on board I am hoping to inflate drastically for the show.

I am posting a pic of before and after. The pic before is from a few months before starting my prep for this show. ENJOY!

Will update when I can.

Nice work…still I think you should bring those hands in and down during the double bicep…they are too high.

Good luck…hard part is over…have fun!

Awesome dude, as others have said the change throughout this prep has been amazing. You’ve done the hard work, now go out there and enjoy it.

Thanks! I am actually pumped to make (not official yet) the lower class. It will be fun to see how my body handles such a small window to carb up. I will at least be full for the evening show!

I am trying to keep up with the tanning dye, I am going to have time to apply 3 more coats (at least) before the show tomorrow, plus I have a stain for before I go on stage. I am sure I think its going to be enough then still be the palest there haha. I will continue to apply through the day before the evening show as well. I am not allowed oils for pre judging in the morning so I dont know If I will be able to use the wash off dye yet.

good stuff, just wanted to make sure you knew how dark you actually have to be. i looked african by the end of it all.

I think it will handle the small window fine, I know the leaner I was, the more drastic (in a good way) my body responded to increased carbs. A few higher carb meals and you should be filling out nicely.

However, worry about pre-judging, not the evening show. At least as far as I know, the decision is pretty much made all at pre-judging.
