Bug: Killin It

was feeling “foggy” today but once i got into training, felt great. “cheated” a bit today (ate prob 200g of carbs from fruit snacks and granola bars in the mid afternoon), but w/e, i’ll be ok. had about 1/4 of my regular pre-workout carbs to make up for it (and i was still feeling bloated lololol). Here’s how it went down

Smith squats - I swear I’m stronger on regular squats…

425 x 6 - up 20lbs, deeper, and same amt of reps as last time IIRC.

Leg extensions

250 x 8 drop 150 x 8 drop 90 x a bunch

Leg press w/ 3sec negative

7pps x 11 drop 5pps x 10ish drop 3pps x a bunch plus a bunch of partials. agony.

One-legged plate-loaded leg curls
1pps x 10, 10 (LR, LR)
1pps and 25s x 10 drop 1pps x 8ish drop 1plate x 10ish. One drop set per leg (obvi).

One set walking lunges finisher.

Leg press calves, seated calves (2 working sets per).

Then I did some foam rolling, pulldown abs, and 10min cardio. Good day, I’m beat.

Dix, don’t knock it till you try it brahhh. But really, like I said before, I’ve never done smith squats before, but they really do hit the quads very nicely, and because my lower back is still fucked from being a drunk idiot a few weeks ago, it’s nice to be able to go heavy on a movement and not have too much LB strain.

By the end of the year I’ll be freesquatting 500 for reps, don’t you worry. (coming for you evan)

lol all jk. I trained with a bodybuilder for a while when I was in college, and we used the smith machine for a bastardized squat to absolutely destroy hamstrings/glutes, so it has its place.

Holy volume on arms today batman (or so it felt). Got to the point on bis where I just couldnt feel my arms anymore. All in all a good day, just followed my training partner along. I was feeling HELLA sluggish and stiff getting in there, everything is sore from this week, yada yada, so I was extra happy to shake off the cobwebs. If I had my choice, I would prob tone down the volume 10-15%, but I’m just going with the flow.

Thorough full-body warmup.

Alternating DB curls
(I did a couple lighter sets on my own to get blood moving)

EZ preacher curls

85lbs x 9-10ish

plate-loaded seated curl machine thingy - so what he wanted to do was load a 25 per side, keep the non working arm flexed, do 5 reps one side, 5 reps other side, 4 reps, 4 reps, etc etc. Did 3 of those sets.

Then did some 2-armed standing DB curls, 25s for 15 reps dropped to 15s for 10-15 reps, 3 of those.

and THEN another finisher - one-armed preacher machine. god.

Rope overhead extensions
4 sets with that gnarly pump was painful. stack felt hard as hell.

Assisted pullup machine one-armed pressdown thingy.
3 sets of 12 with the stack (per arm obv).

Then 2 sets of wrist curls on a low cable, one armed at a time, 25 reps.

then 15 min of cardio for me.

Ate shitty saturday and Sunday, feeling pretty gross today, went to the pool to get some sun and enjoy the day. Chest tomorrow. <3

Dropset finisher thingy: Pushups with feet elevated to regular pushups to pushups with hands on bench. 3 dropsets… max reps for each. started with like 25/15/7ish to like 12/7/3 on the last one lolz. SO MUCH PRESSIN. When I moved onto pressdowns, my triceps were already hurting (that feeling when you’ve done a lot of pressin, u no).

20 min stepmill cardio, avg. HR ~150BPM.

Great back workout. First time attempting any form of barbell rows in quite awhile and felt great. Felt strong all around. Ran out of gas during biceptz0rz.

Barbell rows - so my lowerback has been hurting for awhile now (going on 4 weeks now?), so I’ve avoided anything stressing the lower back. Partner wanted to do some BB rows, so I went with it. He liked staying very upright (yates style) and rowing into the stomach with a strong squeeze. Staying up (and belting up, even from the first set) kept my lower back in a protected position while allowing me to use a decent amount of weight and get a good squeeze. These felt great.

Seated cable rows
3 dropsets:
150 → 100 → 60.
Started with roughly 15 reps → 12 reps → idk… by the 3rd set I was struggling to get 10. Sexy form used with these obvi.

One set of wide-grip straight arm pulldowns, 25 or 30 reps, as a finisher. Tried to do some biceps after but I had no gas left.

Incline DB curls - REALLY forced myself back onto the bench, chest up, elbows back and rotated out to put myself at a disadvantageous position. Stretched the SHIT out of my bicep and was very difficult. amazin.
