Then what do you suggest?

Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos for your lifting. You can run about twice a week if you’re planning on bulking

hmm. looking back at what I do. It just clicked. Its a pointless routine. This is what new I came up with:

day 1:

Flat Bench Press
Dumbell Flyes
Military Dumbell Press (Barbell also)
Lateral Raise
Close Grip Bench Press
Dumbell Kick Backs
Overhead Press

day 2:

Squats
Seated/Standing Calve Raises
Stiff Leg Deadlift

day 3:

Barbell Curls
Concentration Curls
Dumbell Alternate Curls

day 4:

Step-ups with Barbell
Lunges
Split Squats

  • Everyday I do sets of push-ups and sit-ups.

  • Sundays will be off days.

Good routine?

Didn’t you say that “My goals are to get the fat off and build some muscle and endurance to doa lot of push-ups in a row and do a lot of pull-ups in a row.”

I hate to point out the obvious, but since one of your goals is to “do a lot of pull-ups in a row” might I suggest you add some sort of back work to your workout. Pull-ups perhaps?!? Maybe even a second exercise like bent over rows…

I don’t mean to be cheeky but I’m not sure you really know what you want and if you do you’re not putting much thought into it or a least you’re posting.

Im surprised this hasnt popped up yet,

I would like to say that long distance running is HIGHLY over rated for military training. I would work on getting overall endurance up via sprinting or something that takes you far into anaerobic glycolysis along with weight training.

I would say GTG is best for this, hit a pullup bar for a few everytime you pass one. I went from 12 deadhangs to 20 pronated in around a month from doing this, with not much other back work at the time.

Curls is not the answer. Do pull-ups and bent-over rows.

Its amazing how topics get shattered into pieces. But still on that subject, that “marine” quit and moved to the army. Is he still the same “great” marine? And I’m not in AFROTC. I am in the reserves. Meaning if I get into shape and pass the test, I can automatically get in with no hassle.[/quote]

Then you are a true Dumb Ass because you clearly stated AFROTC son that is not the reserves, its one thing being an idiot and another opening your mouth and proving it.

As for your statement the guy in question quit the Marines and joined the Army sorry that don’t wash you cant quit and join another they wont let you why would they you quit. Now he may very well have put his time in and then enlisted in the ARmy after serving in the Marines but man you are consistantlt talking out of your ass.

Many people have served in differant branches unlike your self who cant get his shit straight first your in ROTC then when you get called on it you come back and say you are in the reserves the very fact you don’t know the differeance proves the point.

Now the question is are you in the AFJROTC or the AFSROTC oh let me geuss you dont really know the answer to that either next time it’ll be OCS may please.

He did say he was in the reserves, in the first post when he mentioned anything about the AFROTC or whatever it is.

Why are you getting so worked up?
He said this one guy was an asshole, maybe he IS an asshole. Ex-marine or not, does that mean he gets to go around being a prick to people for the rest of his life?

Back on topic, to the original poster, that routine you posted up was all kinds of lame, kudos for realising that and changing it. Trouble is that one you then put up wasn’t any better…

Why don’t you pick a routine off this site?
Instead of using your woefully inadequate training knowledge/experience to come up with some shit so far from optimal it’s not even funny.

And given your goals are to do lots of push ups and pull ups (why? pray tell) then perhaps (as was already suggested) you should put some of them in your routine…

Just a couple of things:

  1. I would think that since you are in the AFROTC you would want to become better at the military fitness.

  2. I would actually think that what your friends dad said would be correct. If you are an AF boy you need to have a small waist over anything else. It is worth more than your pushups and situps combined in your physical fitness test. Get skinny.

  3. Running is the only thing that counts more than having a small waist on the physical fitness test. Run alot if you want to pass the test. Again this would suggest that your friends father might be right.

If your goal is military fitness embrace the military fitness.
