:D!! Ah Eric! Yeah I work once a week at another ER vet clinic to make ends meet, its only a 6 hour shift but its at night. We all love how Denver was #2 in rising rent rates huh (8%) ?? GEEZZ!!! >:( But its what it is.

As for the pull ups, it works ok if its once a week. I doubt I could do many total reps If it was every day, some days I’d not be able to do 2. And I take my time with them. I usually watch an episode of project runway while doin em!, or other misc internet fun. Do a set, sit and chill a bit look at some strange stuff online, do another set, that kinda thing. Pull ups are done at my house on a lil pull up door frame thing in prime comfort!

I think I have a bit of a cold beginning or something, so I wasn’t expecting a decent deadlift day but I did have a decent deadlift day.

I hear you on the rental scene. My best buddy/ex-roommate just got a $250 jump in his rent (Capital Hill), just because they know they can, more or less. Nothing new or painted, just higher rent so far.

Myself, I work a ‘part time’ job as well. It’s 5 blocks from home, and where I can use my ‘part time gym’, when I cannot train at the rec center. I end up working 6 shifts in 5 days (double on Mondays). Gotta keep Jasper and I in the lifestyle we’re accustomed to right?

OH MAN! Yeah! It does make it easier to pull the long hours knowing its for Mossi’s care and happiness. That’s a MASSIVE DANE! My biggest ever dog patient so far has been a 250 pound female Mastiff. Who had a laceration on her toe that bled oceans!!!

Can’t get myself to go back to the gym to do dips…just cuz I don’t wanna. SO I’m doing dips on my pull up bar. You put it on the floor to use it that way…kinda silly but its a tricep exercise.

I developed a freakin puncture abscess!! Gross! I had a sore middle finger for about a week, felt like I had broken the last digit and I couldnt figure out why it hurt so bad. I often slam my fingers in stuff, just rushing around at my job, cages etc.

Then it began to swell…then I got curious thinking it was just a blister and I wanted to drain it…not a blister, a purulent lil friend in was…Not to sound gross but of course it was fun. Who doesn’t enjoy a good abscess?? Easy to treat! Antibiotics for a few days and I hope to be square.

BOY OH BOY!!!

Weather was great and melted all the ice, slush, and old packed snow the last few days so I took the twinzies out!

Its been about 3.5 hours since I finished the carries and I feel beat! Tired and spent and its glorious!!! :D!!! I haven’t had a good wt involved cardio in a while, and these felt great for that. Muddy too in a few spots. TOTAL La Brea Tar Pits Style.

So, new plan for carries is to train to carry them far in one walk and do them for long distances. Not going heavy until I earn it, and I feel like it’ll be a long time for that to happens.

Carries 112# x hand x distance and holding power.
Total length was the football field end to end and back to the car. Longest carry was four lines-- so 20 yards??? Not even sure.
I missed those twinzies!!! :)!!!

Glad you got rid of that problem finger; after awhile you wont even notice it’s gone, trust me.

This week was exhausting. Busy at work, hustlin’ hustle hustle. I did NOT manage to get my butt up at 3am to go to the gym at any point this work week. Its been work, sit for 30 mins at lunch, back to work, get off work, eat, sleep the last four days. I feel like I can sleep for another 2 days straight to catch up even though I did go to bed at decent hours.

Its just been a fatiguing week for many reasons. I was the nurse for a critical patient who was one you couldn’t really leave her side at any point in the day for a few days…who of course crashed and burned badly after days of watching her circling the drain…so that’s taxing on many levels. Shitty.

All I have done this week since saturday are pull ups . So here are tuesday nights pull ups.

11, 6 sets of 10, 9, then misc sets of 2 - 5 for 100 total.

I also am still a bit sore from the farmers walk carries! Must mean they are worthwhile.

Howdy Brute, sorry to hear about your patient , I know how you feel. On the farm I’ve had to deal with either severely injured or baby animals and no matter how hard you fight and try to keep them alive you cant it sucks. You just have to focus on the ones you saved and the ones you can save.

Hey FarmerOwen! You are right, focus on those you can save.

Its tough to see…sucks that often I feel as a tech either the vets in charge of the case, or the owners…just hold on so long --try too fucking hard. This particular animal had a $15,000 bill at the end of it all, ten grand was in blood transfusions of various types… There is a lot of suffering that there is no way an animal can understand. I know the owners might mean well but well, its sucky on all sides. Pain, suffering, and totally horrible quality of life is hard to witness. the dogs have no idea what is going on…but the owners just want it so badly… :frowning:

Today went well. I did carries but since the football field was till full of snow, I did it along side it sorta in the parking lot. A lot easier to carry on the cement versus the grass.

Not sure the longest distance before I stopped, but i think it was better then last week. I measured the total amount with my car, 0.6 of a mile all together.

Sad but true Brute. What a bummer for sure. I’ve never thought of blood transfusion on a dog/pet? I guess ‘drawing the line’ can be tough, on any patient.
And we all hope it never comes to that, but it has for all pet owners I suppose.

My “80 year old step-son”…A.K.A…Jasper the Beagle, turns 12 this Monday. Still going strong.
