Ugh… Work stress is cascading all around me and leaving a smear of dread, despair, and anger through out my free time. I’ve been sleeping bad, eating liek crap–that’s my fault though- and yes. Bummer.

My mp3 died a few days ago so I hadn’t had time o get a new one. I did a quick workout today and finally fond a decent cheap one to replace my belvoed sansa clip. Since its xmas time most places had a slim selection but whatever, I am uploading my stuff now so hopefully so music will lift my spirits next workout.

My QUADSs as in all four, each thread and fiber of em are nice and awake and sore form the ssb squats thursday. Excellent.

Hey HKD!! BLAH!! I do not have the day off…but …what can i do. The morale at my place is so abysmal and the management is all backed up against a wall and now has the great ol motto of “if you don’t like it leave” type thing to scare us all form trying to make a change.

it’ll either ebb and go away or it’ll get worse. :{ I need to stop letting it get to me. Its taking too much out of my life force. NOT ALLOWED.

So at your work you have low morale and a virus going around. That sounds pretty rough. If mgmt is taking the stance of if you do not like it leave are you looking for a different job? On the lifting front I find it amazing you move the amount of weight you do, and while suffering tummy troubles. I get to work on Christmas as well. Best wishes


Oh …amn…yep HKD. I am always on the look out for new places…but I hav ea major family at my present job. Total bonds and I’d miss them very much… I have bad days but at the end of them I do really have a cool job. Its a shame my company uses that against us. All the bullshit besides…but I have a super cool job. I guess compared to others my complaints are totally valid but I’m also surrounded by animals the entire time so its wonderful.

Today’s lifts! I’m starting form the bottom on front squat as it appears I have no other option. On the plus side I’ve been doing more lower back stuff and I think its paying off every so soon and ever so slightly.

I can understand the work bonds. It just sounded like the place was taking advantage of you because you like it there. I can also see all the good animal and healing kharma being more rewarding than the schedule or pay. A 232pound dog? That is huge. I can not imagine the food bill for that. the Christmas cat sweater is great.
The work outs are impressive 50 reps of weighted sit-ups is outstanding. Keep up the good work with animals and the weights.

HEY HKD!! Oh you are absolutely right about my job. Its a toss up…a constant balancing the pros and cons. As for my own dog…well :{ I had to put him down in the summer. He’d always had a screw loose, fear aggression from when I adopted him after he was an adult. I managed it as best as I could–intensive training, constant vigilance, lots of exercise and structure, I learned to be a dominate pack leader, kept him away form people and other animals, it was my full time labor of love though because he was always gentle and good to me. CONSTANT VIGILANCE however.

But the loose screw was always there and this time the screw loosened on me and I had to get 24 odd stitches… He was a beautiful Cane Corse/American Bulldog/Mastiff Mix, 102 pounds of beautiful powerful dog. He owned my heart!! And chomped me badly.

My arm/bicep, my face, my boob, the side of my head…He got spooked for reasons only he knew and attacked me when we were both resting. It was …a really bad experience. I have a bit of post tramatic stress and heartbreak from my absolute BABY being out of my life leaving a massive hole and also the very real terror of an animal attacking you and being helpless to a beast.

I was the one who had to put him down since even after everything, he only let me by him. He trusted me enough to know I was doing the right thing for him even if it meant sending him to heaven… and wasn’t aggressive at all to me after I had ran to the hospital, got stitched up then took him straight to my clinic to be put down all within 2 hours of the attaak. My heart is still totally broken, and I still miss him every damn day :{

I consider myself incredibly lucky though-- it could have been much worse, and it could have happened to someone else. He’s in heaven now with no more demons chasing after him :{

But I miss him SO MUCH!!

To take a break from the bummer world , I have a pull up update to report.

I’ve been assigned a Maximus Effortus pull up rep set by my pull up guru at elitefts. I gave him my new goal of 15 reps and so he wanted a all out session to see my max.

I got 13! AH HA HA!!! :D!!! THIRTEEN!! :slight_smile: This time lat year, I barely did 3 wild, kipping gross pull ups. I am SO PLEASED!!!

So i continued. End total was pull ups: 13, 12, 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 8,5, 4 and I’m going to try for another set of 4 before bed.

Sorry to bring up that painful subject. Your pull ups rock! Got me motivated to get to the pull up bar as well.

Thanks HKD!! OH MAN!! Those pull ups do mean quite a lot to me. I feel I’ve grown as a person doing them as silly as that sounds. A goal I never thought I’d get to and I did! I hope you get at em too! Makes your back nice and wide :slight_smile:

It! The fs felt surprisingly tighter and better after the ssb squats. I like that. I might even risk saying that I shall try a next time to get my old pr on fs after ssb’s next time. I suppose they use the same muscles or something but whatever, today my fs felt as good to form as I’ve done in a while.

aw, brute, i’m sorry to hear that about nigel. you did the very best you could have for him, i’m really sorry that things didn’t work out. my thoughts are with you.

i’m so proud of you with the pull ups. i think they do build character… i know because i’ve come to fear them more than squats. thats, uh, why i’m not really doing them anymore. i will have to face my fears next year and get into doing them more regular. can’t believe how far you have come with them!

Help my arms up like a diver…makes it harder. I also think I finally figured out the idea of flexing your lats for deadlifts. Maybe now I actually have lats to flare? MAYBE!!

Anyway, I would like to set up and see how I can do this with lower wt and then work up. I’ve no interest in injuring my freaking lats which I guarantee I’d do in a spastic violent spasm if I tired it heavy.

I’ve gotten by with being such a blobby wild mad grabber for my lifts for so long. Its only been this last year I’ve actually paid attention to how your supposed to do stuff…even even now I fell like compared to others I am a total bumbling lifter.

i’m so jealous of your pull-up progress… if id have have had the balls to say ‘i tried but i can’t’ occasionally instead of running away…
i gained about 8kg this year brute. which was one of the things i wanted to do, to gain mass to my legs. and i think i have… now it is just time to get disciplined about my nutrition and see what i’ve built and take the strength hit (while accepting the pullup plus) haha. pros and cons. for always…

OH ALEXUS!! I understand!! Harry would too! I failed a few of my assignments as well and dredded telling him! There’s a lot of factors that go into you body’s ability to perform. You can start again! IF you feel weird about it…maybe you can change your screen name and pretend to be a whole new person for Harry, but I really doubt he’d judge you poorly if you were honest!

That’s great about the 8 kg! It is a change too for your body to deal with for better or worse when it comes to the pull ups. Any extra wt is extra work but your body will compensate–and get that much stronger! it will get stronger. Beefy legs to me are a huge deal!! Well worth it!!

But MAN do I hear you about the nutrition. I’ve be very self destructive and stressed the last few–more like 8 months and have been a horrible eater. The state of my butt and belly are nearly as bad as they were before i started to lift. Makes me sad but there it is.

I myself started day one of eating better yesterday…and had to take a benadryl to fall asleep and wake up the next day super groggy:{ I find myself eating more towards bed time just to use the satiety to help me sleep and its…adding up.

BUT! I can say with the new belly and butt baggage I still am very proud of this new back I’ve got now. It does actually make up for the big floppy butt and tubular sausage gut both of which I could get rid of if I worked on it but I hope the back is here to stay :slight_smile:

That’s it. Days are all mashed up. A lot of trouble not letting things bog me down emotionally…and I nearly left the gym several times out of misc disapointment, blah blah blah , head aches…whatever. I’m glad I stayed.

Just checking off training today. No accessories and yeah but its something done!

OH YEAH! Monday I did my first wt’d pull up assignment : 3 sets of 3 with 5#. Went fine!!

I used a dog leash looped into my lil 2.5# plates and slipped it in my pants belt. I was too lazy to get my lifting belt from the car.

Five pounds extra is probably something my body’s used to doing anyways since my wt fluctuates a lot. Five pounds for my body wt isn’t that much % wise, but its a bit of a macho touch to the pull up partys. :slight_smile: I’ll take it!!

Did Harry advise you to get to a certain number of pullups before you added weight? Just wondering . . .

Hey Snap!I don’t know his formula for adding wt and when. I wasn’t even aiming to do wt’d ones at all, I just wanted a new reps goal. I’d write him!! You should SNAP!!
