did you really do all that volume on deads? my back would be sore for days…
Seriously brute I want your dls.
Brute does not abide by the “less is more” theory. However, Brute is young and otherworldly in terms of her strength.
Wow, that is amazing shoulder flexibility you have there (actually, amazing all round flexibility. I can’t get into that position).
thanks nadia!
hey Lil Power! Yeah, i get excited for dlday.I like to go all out… I only dl after a few days off of training, so i’m all locked and loaded ![]()
Snapper- yep! I’m not the smartest training wise for strength gains…reps help with my sanity more
thanks Cal! I just love doing those!
today i forgot my magical lifting gloves and my hands are sore form dl’s yesterday so i did cardio instead.
Feel kinda bleh and drained from a surprise gift of my mom’s homemade fruitcake yesterday. still carb hungover. I have a feeling this week will be a bit more carbs then noraml, but nothing crazy since i am a lamer and have trouble saying no to free food —especially when my $$ are low which they are. Oh well ![]()
I did spend some dough on a fantastic grape zero carb protein powder that is fantastic. …and also I’m getting my arm worked on today. My dark unicorn is getting filled in—> Fun spending ![]()
HAHAH! I’m with you on the free food! I can NEVER say no. I think its an instinctual reaction, ESPECIALLY when its rough times (which is like, all the time for me). I just call myself an opportunist and thank the universe for the random bounty of foodstuffs.
So jelly of your DLing!! Im just curious, how do you come up with the rep scheme? HA! Are you just going by gut?
free is so great!
well, for my dl rep scheme i warm up then i like my first set to be all out. as in as many reps as i can manage with whatever wt i’m doing. I know this is far from the best way to do things, I get really personally motivated from rep prs. I do this for some of the other lifts i do too.
2nd set is the same wt, as many as i can manage, which usually is less. then i add wt for whatever i think can get for 5’s or 6’s which sometimes ends ups as 4’s or 3’s…nonsense really!
When i get fairly fatigues i drop the wt and try and rep out again…makes absolutely no sense, and i know this. But wierdo Brute uses training for therapy, and this therapy works for me ![]()
Brute, you can’t say that your training is nonsense. I’d do your nonsense if I could!
As for overhead squats, I have long arms and there aren’t any preloaded bars at my gym. Honestly, the broomstick idea is a great one. I could work OH squat form for awhile with that.
oh kimba, you should! you’ll love it! oh, i am excited for you to try! such a great ass movement !!

OMG Kimba, I also started training my OH squats with a broomstick and let me tell ya, that shiz is HARD! Just the movement of the OH squat itself is enough of a workout.
And Brute, your training makes sense to you and that’s all that matters!! I love it!

more power to ya!
reminds me of this part of that henry rollin’s article “The Iron”:
I prefer to work out alone.
It enables me to concentrate on the lessons that the Iron has for me. Learning about what you’re made of is always time well spent, and I have found no better teacher. The Iron had taught me how to live. Life is capable of driving you out of your mind. The way it all comes down these days, it’s some kind of miracle if you’re not insane. People have become separated from their bodies. They are no longer whole.
I see them move from their offices to their cars and on to their suburban homes. They stress out constantly, they lose sleep, they eat badly. And they behave badly. Their egos run wild; they become motivated by that which will eventually give them a massive stroke. They need the Iron Mind.
Through the years, I have combined meditation, action, and the Iron into a single strength. I believe that when the body is strong, the mind thinks strong thoughts. Time spent away from the Iron makes my mind degenerate. I wallow in a thick depression. My body shuts down my mind.
The Iron is the best antidepressant I have ever found. There is no better way to fight weakness than with strength. Once the mind and body have been awakened to their true potential, it’s impossible to turn back.
The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you’re a god or a total bastard. The Iron will always kick you the real deal. The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.

HENRY!! Right on Deja!! I love his cute ass!
today:
overhead squats 95x15, 115x9,125x8, 135x7, 145–fail! damm! its quite hard for me to get that up! fail at 140 too :{
then 115x12,x12
front squats 135x19, 155x9 was starting to get questionable form so i quit

30 mins cardio
military press 75x5,x6,x7, 85x4 then i was over it all. Oh and 3 sets of ten ghetto reverse hypers
I gotta get a decent upper body workout in this week too. probably tomorrow will be a better benching day and rows and crap.

OH squats, something else I haven’t tried, but I think my old shoulder joints would rebel big time…this is sooo impressive Brute!
You’re squats are really getting there girl!
These are nice for shoulder flexibility. They don’t have to be heavy. I do them with a broomstick from time to time to warm up for both squats and bench; sort of like a dynamic flexiblity thing.
