So, what kind of prehab are ya doin’? For your back, that is… Ever try the Jandas? I promise that if you do them correctly and often they WILL help your back. Certainly not the end-all and be-all for low back probs, but they are pretty good. I put people on them after completing disc decompression therapy to prevent re-injury and they go a long way towards getting people back to 100%. That is, until they try to do something dumb. Don’t be a dummy, Brute. Stay smart and leave a little in the tank like you’ve been doing.
Nikki!—you hititrigh on the head ![]()
Kristof too
BLAHH!!!
hey Veg! well, I have a person to hold my legs for the jandas and i know there are other ways to do it but i have yet to them. in all honesty i kinda have torubel figuring them out :{
But i have messed around a started doing these Bruce Lee dragon type ab movement, where you lift your self toes to ceiling, upper back only on the floor or bench. Its kinda way cool because with each movement, my spine pops–ina good way:)! Maybe decompressing?
also i’ve been doing windshield whipers. not sure if that’s the name, but they have similar popping affect that feels nice. namely that and some bird dogs–which have been wonderful.
got my arm worked on a bit. touched up my unicorn tattoo and added a new addition on top.
$$$$spent…on … pretty pictures
BAD BRUTE…kinda :)!
Funny I was inspired by bear’s tats today and was browsing the local portfolio’s to see if I could find an artist I really liked. I might pop my ink cherry yet.
go for it N! I think alot of people think way too much about it. Just go for it, chances are highly in your favor you’ll like it and wonder why didn’t i do this ages ago?

today warm up with various stretches, glute acitvtion etc
deads bar x5, 135x5,185x4,205x4,225x4,245x4…thought it out. then 225x5 x 3 sets. had plenty left in the tank…but alas…i walk ed away. everything felt fine for these, my only problem if it is a problem is my grip. i tend to loose my grip fairly easily after not doing em for a bit. it shall return eventually.
benching 120 x7,125 x4…then i lost total interest–will do again tomorrow or so
30 mins cardio and more abs
inspired deeply by alexus and deb’s logs, I wanna snatch more–volume wise! much more! and c&j. been ignoring it ![]()

Sounds good Brute. IF you want janda tips just PM me. I have tons of cues and such from working with patients. Funny how some cues click with one person and totally lose someone else.
My stance on “popping” your back is this: If you are not using excessive force to achieve it then it is good. Just your body naturally resetting itself. But DO NOT pull or use velocity to achieve popping. That is the spinal equivalent to compulsive knuckle cracking and the result is the same— sloppy joints. Just my $.02
Keep up the good work on the core training and your back will thank you. Probably won’t hurt your lifts either ![]()
Yay for new and improved ink. I have a major upgrade/overhaul for my tramp stamp planned for later this spring. Can’t wait.
pics of your new ink?
congrats for keeping with your deadlift rehab.
So glad you’re back on the deadlifts! And wow, your starting point is just so, so awesome. You’ll be back and better than ever in no time. Stay patient. Stay healthy.
patience young grasshopper!
ooh…pretty pictures, you say? I’m getting some more next weekend, yippee!
but yes! as for the back popping, its been naturally, just by completing the movement without pushing or yanking or what have you. what about twisting? sometimes just twisting form one side to the other.i can get my entire spine to pop…which feels great. my right hip pops out alot as well, just form squat type movements…and oh…i’ma knuckle cracked too…:P!
hey alexus! thanks! i’d post a pict but its in an awkward not finished stage.
i do have one of my recent;y waved belly though :)!
nadia!! great avi!! my goodness…amazing ! thanks!!
MIM!!!
EYEAH!!! yeai!! I can’t wait to see yours!!
You’re still easing back into the deadlifts. Leaving some in the tank will keep you happier and make you stronger in the long run I think. I know the rep calculation business isn’t exact, but those 225x5 sets give you a 262 1rm. Since you did three sets of that AND still had some oomph left over I’d say you’re on the right path. For me, when I started doing double overhand until I couldn’t and did carries my grip stopped being an issue. That might mean my posterior chain just isn’t strong enough though. grin (you did say your grip shall return though, nevermind
)
Please say that when you type EYEAH! you’re doing Little John. It will make my night. ![]()
I like the fish and waves, and am impressed that you’re doing the flags a la Mr. Lee. nod
really like the waves. think the fish looks great, too. i’m thinking about getting a fish up my arm one day… or maybe a tree…
I love popping my spine… not forced of course, more because that’s painful.
My favorite is crossing one leg over the other, putting the opposite elbow behind the upright knee and twisting. Ooooooooohhhhhhhhh that’s good.
Lovely ink Brutiful =D

Yep, dragon flags, I do these too, except as an ab exercise and not for cracking my back.
Actually, I can’t do them 100% correctly because you should be able to keep your body completely straight the whole time, and I can’t get back to my legs over my head without a little extra oomph! I’m super impressed if you can!!
Kristof!–ha! well, I wasn’t thinking lil jon…i had to look him up on youtube since i had no clue who he was! but he sounds pretty much like the EYAH i do–so word :)!
for the grip thing i think its going to comeback–it better! nah,but i have to be mindful–i get crappy form when my grip falters because then i start to pull all the strings and do ANYTHING just to get it up…and it turns into all back doing the work.
!!! love my Nikki stopping in ![]()
thanks alexus–> you should go for it! nerd alert–New Zealand has some serious tattoo history…so I’m sure they have incredible artists as well.
hey lantels! thanks for popping in! OH THOSE DRAGONS…I can’t do them 100% either! but i’m determined too! they are HARD! especially on the bench.i can do the movement fine, but i can’t say i do them perfect by a long shot…i will though :)!
today
overhead sq 110x12,115x10 x 3sets, 95 x20
front sq 135x16, 145x8 x 3 sets, 155x7,165x3
c& J–rusty! 89x3, 94x2, 104, 111, 115–numbers could be slighly off since i am math slow…used kilo bumper plates plus regular pound plates.
30 mins cardio
strechin, abs
nice squatting. strong cleaning and jerking, too!
how does it work… do you go talk to someone and they give you pictures of work they have done / draw something for you and you pay for the pic and maybe get the tattoo if you like it? i’ve never really looked into it. some scars on my arms i’d like to disguise / work into the design. was never really sure how to go about it. don’t know anyone (in person) with tattoos that i much like.
hey alexus!–well here you pretty much get something you would like, a picture or drawing, and bring it into a shop. Try and look at the place’s artists stuff before hand–either if you drop by and look at a portfolio they have at the place or they are online or something…if they have some decent portfolio pictures, or the seem to be good at the particular style you are wanting then word!
usually you have to talk to the artist before hand–not the day you plan on getting it. bring your art with you, and try and get an idea of what size you want, bring it in and talk to an artist and ask them if it is something they feel they can rock out. CAUTION alot of tattoo artists can be dicks…but hopefully if you’ve done your homework before hand, you won’t have to walk into a parlor full of crappy dicky artists. ask them how much they charge and hour, here its usually about $150/hour. meet one who’s portfolio you like, who seems cool, and word:)
or ask around like you said --if you can find anyone with nice work done on them who did it and get a recommendation.
today/night
cardio
benching 120x5x3 sets, 125x3 x2 sets, 130, 135 2 singles
abs
today
Bulgarians with bb --all per leg 100x10 x 2 sets, 105x8, 115x8
was not feeling it. surprise squats happened after however.
squats, bar, 135, 185,225, 245, 265, 275, 280–first one filmed high, so i redid it. because of camera probs i ended up doing 3 more singles that felt good depth, but camera wouldn’t film until number 4 which was a nice one
then 285, and 290–a nice one too. its been since my meet in December that i got anywhere close to that. i’m pretty excited ![]()
then 30 cardio, abs, stretching --hmm…i gotta figure my cardio out…once again its getting slightly crack addict style…mmeh.i’ll get over it again i guess when i’m ready.
Brutie, if I get another tattoo, I’m using your person. Gorgeous.
