I’ll second this sentiment.
There is a lot of interesting research out there on circadian rhythms, overnight work shifts and cortisol levels. I don’t remember any of the results (sorry!) but I’m pretty sure there are ways to best handle workouts, supplements and such to help reduce the feeling of going insane.
Sometimes we all just get to a point where change feels like the only way forward. It sounds like you are there or close to it. Unsettling and exciting all at once. I have every faith in your ability to work through this and get where you need to go.
rearrange your sleep schedule, you KNOW you need to do that anyway.
if you’re not ready to lift yet, don’t lift.
swim, bike, run, jumprope, or nap incessantly.
WE know you’re a strong son of a bitch when you’re doin well, and YOU know you don’t wanna be a broken middleaged woman because you pushed yourself too much now.
relax, and go do what needs to be done. we’ll still be here.
i’m fairly reclusive, too. find people to be over-stimulating sometimes and need to get away. need a lot of alone time to decompress or something. that being said, i also start to go a little nutty if i don’t get enough in person social contact. i don’t often realize that that is why i’m going a little nutty, but there does seem to be a repeated pattern of that with me.
ditto about a weird sleep-wake schedule (i’ll sleep all day and stay up all night if left totally to my own devices). maybe this kind of stuff is playing a bigger role than you think in terms of your funk? hard to know what to say about it, though, when work dictates. hang in there. take special care to do things you LIKE to do.
hey pch! thanks!! I think the most notable thing about the wierdo schedule’s is the short term memory lapses. just brain madness. :{
hey cbear! you’re most correct → I do know what I need to do or at least what to try before i go and do anything rash. that’s a lucky thing in itself… I am really lucky, and i am in charge…blah
I know I know. Truth is if i didn’t get something out of my situation now I wouldn’t be in it, so i just need to determine which benefits I’m getting are really worth it, or if those benefits are just hiding places for the deeper issue… 8[
hey kimba! I really feel like since turning 29 my mind frame has changed, its always progressively changed but it is more pronounced now. Thank you! I have no one else to blame if i just settle or do nothing…sigh…growin older:P
hey frenchie!! thank you
last night’s stuff
Overheads 95x12,105x10, 115x8x2sets
Front loaded reverse alternating lunges 95x10 total,105x10 total, 115x8 total x2 sets
Front squats 135x7x3 sets
Rowing for 27 mins leisurely. I fell good! I kept having to hold back, which was difficult but I’m being a grown up…i predict perhaps an end to the all out balls out days. its nice to not be laid up sore, but also sore enough in the right places.
Incredibly frigid here in denver–my god in heaven.
alexus!!–we have a LOT in common! i get pretty whiped out from interacting with people too! I do like people, but it is overwhelming and drains my energy alot.
I attribute my core personalty traits to being raised for the most part by my sisters. I have parents, but I’m the last of ten daughters and also a twin. My sisters were CRAZY, and about 70% of them were rough on my parents. My ingrained life rule was/is to be as least burdensome as possible. Being the youngest also with a few particularly jealous siblings I got it mashed in my head the amount of burden i was to the family–whether my parents believe it or not–my sisters raised me, and their ideas, tastes, everything was first and foremost inmy brain. I was think i just figured it easiest to survive the estrogen amounts by being easy peasy and as little a problem for my parents as possible in every way i could be.
of course it backfired in ways i didn’t intentionally cause, but they happened and i only understand why years later… SO even though i grew up in a large ,loud, bustling house, I prefer solo or duo things.
Yea it’s fridgid in Montana too, ugh!! Wish it would go away. Interesting stuff about your growing up, ten kids - holy hannah thats a whole passel of people. Totally makes sense why you prefer solo/duo - less people is always better imo. Have a good day
Interesting. We grew up on opposite sides of the spectrum. You’re the youngest of 10, I’m the oldest of 8 - definitely different childhoods but I’m a very solo type person as well. I think many people who grow up in families that big go on to enjoy being independent. It also makes me shiver at the idea of having kids.lol
you are on the opposite side bobbi, do you have an brothers? I wonder how different things would be if i had at least one brother in the mix. and for sure on the Independence thing for me and my twin however. none of my other sisters really have that streak in them. They all sorta cling together and live within an hour–two hour radios of where we grew up.
As a large family member person too i ALWAYS hate movies or tv shows where there’s some large family and they make it seem like everything has some conveyancer belt assembly line thing for meals or anything. the Brady Bunch specifiably–six is NOT that many.
hey n8tive -! MONTANA IS NO JOKE. Every year it seems to be negative 52 for prolonged periods in Montana. bundle up
PMPM and LilPower:)!
today
benching 115x10,x7x3 sets,x6
push presses–I was trying to just do jerks but I am having trouble seeing the distinction between the two
95x10x4 sets, 115x2 no go for some reason.
speed walk on treadmill with incline 2 miles. wore wrong shoes… going to have blisters ;/
So after your have used some leg drive to help push it up, you gotta get yourself under it so your arms are locked out. Either a split stance (like the vid) or some lifters squat jerk.
I was pretty much raised as an only child… But my mother was emotionally reactive so I used a lot of energy scanning for subtle cues on what she needed / wanted / how she was feeling / how best to negotiate things with her. I do like people. But I also find them very exhausting. Need to get away for a bit and reflect on what is going on for me.
Sometimes I think things may have been different if I’d have been raised with siblings. Sounds like that isn’t necessarily the case, though. Mind you I guess there is a middle ground between none and heaps.
i just checked out a misc snatch vid too–i take it you have to lockout your arms for those as well seems so …hmm.
i guess the idea of the way Olympic lifters do it is very STOMP SWING PULL, those types of solid movements… That sounds weird but i suppose i just expect to see some bending somewhere if that makes sense…I’m going to study this some more on a youtube adventure…
Oooh…thanks for the vid Alexus! That’s some nice inspiration. Notice how she simultaneously drops her booty, opens her knees and hitches her elbows up before she throws. That’s the ticket! (for split jerking and push pressing I reckon)
Anywho 10x4x95 on push presses is awesome! Good stuff Brute.

That is the worst, most horrendous looking avatar I’ve ever seen. Just disgusting.

yea 3 of them are boys. We tried to do things to keep everyone in order. Like for a while we all had different colored plates/bowls/cups so that everyone would only have to wash their own but the older kids wound up having to clean up after the younger ones per usual. Everyone has their stuff to bitch about in a big family.lol
