Do as much napping, stretching, foam rolling, etc. for the next week as you possibly can.
Best of luck Bunny! I know you’ll do fantastic, look forward to your recap of the event.

Don’t worry. If he falls down on the recap, there’s plenty of T-Nation folks there to get it all on video.

Grreeeatt… I may have to fake a stroke or something and pretend I don’t remember.
I wanna thank everyone for the help, advice and support they have given me… I don’t know what I would have done without you.
I took an extra day off, and used today to test my bench before my deload this week before the competition. I also wore my singlet (mantard) under my track pants and t-shirt for the first time… just to get used to it.
My cousin showed up again, smelling faintly of A5-35 ointment, so I put him through a back and tricep workout in between my sets. He is doing good, has a positive attitude and great effort.
So, without further ado…

So, I guess the consensus for the week prior to a competition is to rest, stretch and foam roll eh?
Is there anything I should be doing?

Nice session today, and ending on a high note is always nice.
The only thing I can think of that I needed (and still do) is, make sure you know the commands. you don’t want to have to learn on the platform. I’ve linked the IPF rule book below and the lifts/commands are described starting on page 18 or 19.
Enjoy the resting up.

This is the part I find the most difficult. Not being in the gym. I spend it obsessively making lists and ensuring I have everything. It’s just misplaced ocd but you do what you have to right?

Memorize that book.

Thanks Rugger/ Ouro/ Tnt…
I have been reading voraciously through that book… the plot is amazing and has me on the edge of my seat!
JUNE 1- DELOAD WEEK PRIOR TO COMPETITION
Had cousin at the gym today… at least he is being consistent and putting forth a good effort.
Went to YMCA here in my hometown, cousin had a membership there and I wanted to see what they had for equipment for when I upgrade his training regime. Nice change of scenery… and alot more high tech equipment/ machines… crap I will probably never use in my life.
So, I put the cuz through a leg and shoulder workout.
In between his sets I did a few sets of light dumbell press, laterals to the side and front, some light shrugs… then some light squats (135-185). Also did alot of stretching and thinkin’.
Gonna do some more stretching and foam rolling tomorrow… I might even book a massage (real one… not one of those with a “happy ending”).
Going to go in on Wednesday, practice the commands on bench and deads (very light), do some stretching and maybe do some light abs or something.

The commands for deads are the easiest ones! You lift when you want to lift and put it down when they say down ![]()
You are resting still, right? I can speak from experience it is not a good idea to ‘double check’ your openers 5 days prior, lol.

Lol! I actually thought about doing just that either today or wednesday… too funny!
Nope… still slummin’. Gonna go for a nice long walk tomorrow.

Somehow I knew it… walking, catch up TV/reading/internet surfing, whatever you gotta do to keep your mind occupied and body rested and loose.

I’m baking cupcakes. Well not now, but I am on Thursday. Reading lots. Annoying everyone around me. I’m allowing myself to go to the gym tonight and Thursday to do some very light biking, stretching and mobility.
Welcome to the suck Bunny. See you on the other side of it on Saturday ![]()

Thanks Pete/ Court… I feel like I am losing my mind, so f’n bored. Even my dog is lookin’ at me like, “get lost asshole… I am not going for another walk and am not chasing any more balls…”
Court/ anyone?- I have not received confirmation/ email/ phone call/ letter/ smoke signals from the organizers of this event, and have yet to receive timings or directions etc. I have to admit, I am getting a little nervous. Should I call them… or just wait?

I think they will wait until the deadline for submissions which is tomorrow for times and flights. For directions, go on the OPA website for the address and mapquest it.
I think they are posting the info on the Niagara PL website. The link is: http://niagarapowerlifting.org/
Leave your poor dog alone.

You clearly weren’t looking out your window last night at 10:39pm. That’s when the smoke signals were out ![]()
Like Ouro said, chill out
I will PM you details as soon as I hear anything. Also, I know the Niagara guy will be sending (or posting) a map to the exact location of the gym since it doesn’t show up on googlemaps. I’ll send that to you, RL, Ouro, etc when I get it.
If nothing is out by tomorrow night I’m going to call Glyn to harrass him. He’s the one that’s doing the flights, lift times, etc (even though it’s not his meet). I’d still count on your weigh-in being at 7am though. Oh and you probably won’t know for sure what flight you’re in until you get there. However I’m pretty sure I read you’ll be one of the “big guys” so you’ll be in the last flight of the push/pull ![]()
PS. I mean it about this being the suck.
Practice chalking up. That’ll keep you occupied and give the dog a rest. You’ll probably forget to chalk up on the day of the meet but remember everything else.

Awesome, thanks Court!
Bunny- I don’t often chime in on your log, but had to say that I’m psyched up for you. Guess I am living vicariously.
Best of luck…tear it up…and above all, have a good time!
