*BRUTAL SIMPLICITY*

500x5

Holy ****
can you bottle me some of your tap water please.

sounds like a huge week great week

kmc

I see big numbers falling for you in all lifts. You’re a natural.

MARCH 28 BENCH

So, after much consideration and thought, as well as info from Meat, I have decided to shelve the Wendler 5/3/1 program for the time being and adopt a bench routine designed for me by the big guy… cycled right up to my competition in August. It is kinda like a 5x5 routine, with some tweaks.

BENCH
75% @ 5X5
bar x warmup
135x10
225x3
(working sets)
260x 4 sets of 5
260x7

This weight actually felt pretty easy for all 5 sets. I don’t know if I am supposed to rep out on the last set… but I did anyhow until Meat tells me otherwise.:stuck_out_tongue:

CLOSE GRIP BENCH WITH FEET UP AND RESISTANT BANDS + 50 LBS AT TOP
225 x 4 sets of 3

245 x 2 sets of 3

(bands off)
225x8

CAMBERED BAR LYING SKULL CRUSHERS
100x10
120x8
140x6
150x4

ROPE TRICEP PUSHDOWNS
a whole bunch 'til it hurt good

PUSHUPS (on elevated handle thingies)
3 sets to failure

The pushups I did halfway down until my triceps gave out, then did them from the ground half way up until my chest gave out… wow… good pump.

Thanks Km, Skid… getting excited now

Nice bench routine. I likes.

How come you get to have a gym with cambered barz and cool toiz??? Is that yet another silly benefit provided by the Canadian Govt?

Seriously, I agree with Hel, nice benching!
Old Lardass

Looking strong. You will do well in August. A 1000lb total(bench+dead) or more is in your reach.

Thanks Hel! MJ… anything that is shiny and diverts our attention away from the gov’t picking our pockets, they will invest in lol!
Eco… that is exactly the number (total) I am shooting for. Ideally… 600 d/l and a 400 bench… or a 350 bench and a 650 d/l, whatever works.

MARCH 30

DEADLIFT
I am kinda in limbo right now with the deadlift routine, waiting for Meat to answer a couple of questions regarding my/ our plan for the last 4 months leading up to the competition.

Soooo… went in today not really knowing what I was gonna do, and ended up testing my max d/l… which was stupid in hindsight, as I have not really worked up to it, and did not take a deload week. Everything felt light to start with today, which influenced my eagerness. Oh well, live and learn, this is what happened.

DEADLIFT
bar x warmup
135x10
225x5
315x4
(belt on)
405x2
500x1 (this went up too stupid easy)
600x0 %$#@! (got it to just below knees)
600x0 %^$#@! (got it to mid shin)
500x3 (overhand grip with straps)

my lower back really tight and pumped… that tells me something

D.E. DEFICIT DEADLIFTS
(standing on aerobic step platform)
405x3 (bit too heavy for speed at this height)
315x3 (took belt off, not allowing me to get low enough- not my belly, honest!)
315x8

BENT OVER ROWS SUPERSETTED WITH GOOD MORNINGS
225 x 3 sets of 5 no rest between

Not a bad session, doesn’t look like much though. My lower back tell me different.

No, it looks like a lot…

That hunnert pound jump may have been too much for the CNS. mebbe a 555 then a 600 attempt? We all already know you have it in you, it’s just a matter of timing.

I don’t think it was stupid. You’re just pumped to hit 600. But skid has a point about the hundred pound jump.

That’s what I told you last time you tried going from 500 to 550. Strength wise you are capable of it. Your CNS wasn’t ready for the big jump.

You made jumps of 90 lbs. in your warm-up sets and then a 100 lb. jump at the top end. You should listen to your elders.

TNT

yeah. as if you want advice from a 400 lb deadlifter 8*)

Lol! I know, I know… thanks guys… lol!

It’s just that 500 went up like nothin’, so I figured “why waste energy on 545 or 585… just go for the gusto”!

I never was good at listening to sound advice… I always have had to learn the hard way.

And MJ, the weight one lifts does not matter, it is the experience and the knowledge which is invaluable… and I appreciate all of you imparting it on me. I feel like a wide eyed newbie kid around you guys… thanks for being patient with me.

Well… time for a nap, working midnights again, and just finished ‘Kabaddi" practice… man, my cardio is some brutal right now. I sound like a freight train just doin’ up my shoes lately.

Now, in MJ style…
Listen harder.
Kev

I was never good at listening either. Hang in there with the night shift.

oh, sure, now everyone is gonna have a pithy signature line.

I wanna live in a country where smear the kwear (Kabaddi) is a professional sport…

Smirk Louder,
old lardass

Well… was supposed to do an RE squat assistance day… relly damn sore from yesterday and the Kabaddi practice. Alot of wind sprints and other silly stuff.

Then, busy night last night… chasing the bad guys around…

So… decided to take today off, feeling pretty beat up, plus I gotta go to work in 4 hours. Need to re-coop… eat some food and take some fish oil.

ugh

Hang in there Bunny - do what you can when you can. Don’t let the bad guys get you…

I always slow to know what going on…are you a police officer?

Ummmm… I consider myself more of a “recycler of humans” really. They keep coming out, and I keep sending most of them back.

bunZilla, does your great physical strength come in handy in your recycling duties?
