Brotherhood of Iron 2.0

Again, thanks everyone for the kind words. We only have 3 months to go and I have a feeling that those 3 months are going to fly by.

Got two sessions in over the weekend. Both were only half of what they should have been. Friday I was only able to get in 1/2 of the Lactic acid because the wifey was training with me and was done before I was. So, rather than make a hormonal pregnant lady sit around we left. haha

Saturday I got into the gym with only a 1/2 hour before they closed. Did a quick heavy squat session.

Saturday’s session

Squat
265x4 for 5 sets

GHR
6,6,6

Not a bad little session actually, my legs were killing me. I had to keep the rest periods short which helped up the intensity.

I’m also not going down as far as I use to on squats because I want to use heavier weights. I don’t think I’m strong enough or flexible enough to go ATG with heavy weights. So, I’m going powerlifting sytle just below parallel, which felt great.

yeah hell yeah, congrats on the baby dre! thats awesome…and yes Bug a 405 powerclean…pretty sweet, pretty random…pretty well stunned by it still…

JB- wtf dude? pinched something? in your bicep? sounds like something you need to just work through…btw you dont use much biceps benching or squatting …especially squatting…but if it isnt a tear…hmm did you see a doc?[/quote]

im not taking any time off man, it was just a freak thing that minorly annoyed me that night while I was bartending.

After a slightly overindulgent carb-up weekend, I have what can only be described as a “carb hangover”. I got a little carried away and have been paying the price (read: feeling like shit from overeating) since yesterday afternoon. That being said, I have learned my lesson and will keep my future carb-ups a good deal cleaner.

I feel better right now, after lifting, than I have all day. Here’s my workout:

Squat
6x2 @235
(60-90 sec rest between sets)

Bench
6x4 @185
(2min rets between sets)

Squats went up good. I went VERY deep and pushed hard through the bottom. The 6 sets of bench went up pretty easy as well. Looking forward to 6x5 next week. I think the weekend carb-up definitely helped give me what I needed to knock out this session, but I’m sure I would have done just as well if I had stuck with some cleaner carbs.

Hey Ya’ll. Great Thread! Anymore room for just another guy that loves to hit the iron?

Week II

Workout 1
Back squat 6x2x220
135x10
185x8
205x6
220x2,2,2,2,2,2

BB bench press 6x4x190
155x12
170x10
190x4,4,4,4,4,4

Week 2 and squats felt even better this session. I felt like I was going deeper than Friday. The bench was just as good, found my grip on these too. I feel the chest really working when I use the false grip on the outside of the rings. Only issue is unracking the bar. It’s hard to keep the shoulder blades back doing that. Still, I have to say I’m happy with the feeling I get from just focusing on so few exercises.

Also, this weekend I measured and weighted myself and I was pleasantly surprised. I weighed in at 199.5lbs but my obliques was 35 inches. The last time I weighed and measured myself back in July, I was 196.5 with 35.25 on the obliques.

I learned a few things from the guys in the T-Cell and started incorporating cardio every other day for a month now and I think it helped drop some unnecessary lard but let still gain weight.

No problem man, welcome to the BOI.

Always room for more, welcome.

Hey dre at least you’re making it in the gym and getting some work done. Though you’re still a wimp for not finishing the lactic acid session, wifey or no :stuck_out_tongue:

Today’s DE squat:

Squats:
125x5
215x3
240x2/2/2/2/2/2/2/2/2/2

Good Morning Squats:
225x5/5/5

Crunches holding plate OH
45 platex25

Hanging Leg Raises:
bwx12

Speed squats seemed to go up a tad faster than last week, which is nice considering they were 20 lbs heavier. They really are helping my technique. GM squats are something I saw maraudermeat doing in a video, so I gave them a go. They felt better than normal GMs, I’m going to keep doing them on DE squat/deadlift day for a bit. My depth during the GM portion is getting better with time, guess it’s just a case of doing things you don’t really enjoy (GMs in this case).

Lastly, amazing powerclean Nate, that is officially something I’d like to be able to do within the next 5 years or so.

Here is a video from the other nights top set of decline bench.

That’s funny xb-C, your close grip is barely narrower than what has usually been my normal grip bench (pinkies or ring finger on the rings).

Doing legs first thing during the week is fucking BRILLIANT.

Monday - LEGS!

brief leg extension warmup.

Squat (diff. rep range than I’m used to for work sets)

bar x 10
135lbs x 10
185lbs x 6
225lbs x 12
275lbs x 10
315lbs x 7

Hack Squat (new movement, i liked it)

1 plate/side x 15
1 plate/side x 15
2 plates/side x 12
2+25/side x 10
3 plates/side x 8

Romanian deadlifts

225lbs x 6 warmup
295lbs x 12
345lbs x 8 (legs were shaky as fuck)

Leg Curls

110 x 8 warmup
140 x 10
150 x 6
145 x 8

Leg extensions

150 x 15 superslow/controlled
140 x 25 oww
210 x 10 / 170 x 5 / 110 x 7 dropset

DC-style leg press calf raises

2 sets, first about 12 reps, second about 8, on 350

Notes: fucking hot ass girl needed help adjusting the leg extension machine while I was on leg curl. i offered a hand, we made a ton of eye contact for the rest of the session. she came and waited for a machine i was on at the end of the workout, I said “it’s all yours ladies, have a great workout”. Next time i see her, it will be more than just pleasantries. It’s good to be gettin back in the fucking swing of things. Nice thing about doing legs first is that I have every upper body workout to look forward to! Yes! And I’m a little bit bigger AND leaner (I think) than I was before I got sick, which is awesome.

By the way, I know this is dumb, but judging by the most recent pictures in my profile, what would some of you guys speculate as to how much fat I have to lose to get down to the sub 10% range (a true 10%, or closer to 8%). I guess I want a reality check if my plan to hit 225/230 by December then diet for about 12 weeks and lose maybe 25-30 lbs is somewhat realistic.

Thanks guys, tear it up! Also, “Pain Redefined” by Disturbed is a ruthless song to workout to.

Still some way to go to reach that elusive 500

I think “Indestructible” wins as best Disturbed song to train to for me. It’s awesome.

And who cares if the girls think you are crazy, like Mickey says in Rocky, “Women weaken legs!”

One day you’ll find out h4m, you don’t argue with a hormonal pregnant woman! haha

Since I’m gonna be joining up with this fine brother hood, I figured it would be nice to run the strength program alot of ya’ll running. Can anyone give me a link to it? Hopefully I can start posting my workout soon but I’m flying out to Scotland today so my gym situation is probably gonna be a bit iffy the first few days.

I’m with you on this. Pissing of a pregnant woman can be a near-fatal mistake.

Good that most women these days are either too fat or too skinny… The first are too slow and the latter don’t have the energy to catch us.

Hey are any of you guys in the Orange County, CA area? I??d seriously love to have a workout partner that??s on a similar level as myself and who has similar goals. I think about it all the time, and Nate makes me think about it even more when he talks about having squat competitions and shit with his workout partner.

I??m posting this in here because all of the BOI guys are cool as hell and I already know for a fact no one I know in real life will work out. The only guys I know bigger/stronger and with similar goals are on completely different schedules than me. Figured it was worth a shot, lol.

I can out run her easy, but I better not fall asleep for at least a couple of days.
