Brotherhood of Iron 2.0

Dre, 2 things for you.

  1. i’ll take my shirt in a size XL

  2. Nope, no pain at all from the incline, and it even allows from my chest to do almost all the work, when im flat benching, sometimes its all shoulders and triceps for me.

I did the 100 rep chin and dip challenge yesterday because i couldnt get into the gym, storm knocked out the power so i worked out in the basement… by candle light, now that was different.

So, ive gotta up my calories, ive lost way too much weight recently, with as many calories as ive been eating, upwards of 3000, im still losing weight, as a FSFB (former skinny fat boy) i never thought that would be the case. I dont think im losing much muscle, but i also think im as lean as i need to be for the rest of the summer. So i think my next 8 months or so will be spent gaining.

I should be able to gain atleast 1.5 to 2 pound a month, thats just how im made, once i start seriously eating, i dont have much trouble putting on size, and as long as i keep the booze to a strict minimum, it should be fairly solid weight.

Nice. “If” you do beat me and I say “if” because it ain’t happening, I’ll buy you a XXL so you can grow into it!

I think ive got a bit of an advantage though Dre.

While you may outweigh me, youre gonna be trying to shed some pounds, and youve got that whole “family” and responsibilities stuff.

Im in college, im gonna be eating every bit of animal flesh in site, and most importantly… youre old

Bring it on, what kind of template are you going to be using ?

Had a good bench workout with my PL buddy.

Bench
180 x 3
190 x 3
3 board
205 x 1
225 x 1
240 x 0

Incline
135 x 9
145 x 5

Mini Band Pushdowns
4 sets

Fat Man Rows
4 sets

Face Pulls
4 sets

Curls ss w/ Reverse Curls
3 sets

My friend Sean who I lift with on occasion got 415 on bench. That’s a PR or him. He’s a strong dude. I’m making good progress to get a new bench and squat PR I have the rest of this week then next to train, then I will re-test my maxes.

Dre, it sounds like you could really use a home-gym setup. I just ordered my cage and bench yesterday and going to be scouring craigslist for bars and weights. I think I will appreciate it even more when I do get married and have kids and all that trying to take my time away.

I may decide to jump into your guys deadlift competition. My previous max was 405, albiet was not perfect form - but I pulled 375x1 in my last deadlift session and form felt spot on and could have done more. Main difference is that I should be focusing on my squat though, that’s whats lagging and it has my focus. But i will try to beat you both to 500 deadlift still.

I’ve decided that I’m not going to make fat loss a priority. I want to be big and strong. I’m going to clean up my eating, move more and see what happens. I just want to be big!

I do have the “family” thing going on but I won’t let it get in the way anymore. I can make time, I’ve just been choosing to do too many other things. The wife and I both agree that training needs to become a priority for us again. So, watch out.

Yes, I’m old but that just means I’ve got “old guy game” now. haha I’m a crafty veteran.

I plan to follow a Westside template. I’m going to do my 12 week Westside for beginners template again. I really enjoyed it the first time around. Powerlifting is more my style anyways.

A buddy from high school asked me to make him a routine and didn’t know how to do shit so I went with him today to his country club gym… they had what I needed but shit I miss my Gold’s.

Also, I’ve been doing the same exercises and shit since early May, so I’m changing everything up a little bit so this week is somewhat of a deload week I guess.

Upper body ME

Close grip bench press

115 lbs x 10
135 lbs x 8
155 lbs x 5
185 lbs x 5
205 lbs x 5
225 lbs x 5

Flat DB bench

65 lbs x 6 warm up
85 lbs x 16
85 lbs x 12

Bent over rows / rear delt flyes

225 lbs x 12 / 15 lbs x 12
245 lbs x 10 / 15 lbs x 12
275 lbs x 6 / 15 lbs x 12

Shrugs

365 lbs x 12
385 lbs x 10
385 lbs x 10

Tricep pushdowns (rope attachment)

weird machine, the weight was weird

1 set x 15, slow very controlled reps
dropset, 15, 12, 8, 5, going down 15 lbs/set

Whle my friend took a shower, I did some barbell calf raises, but my arms were so tight it kinda hurt to even have 315 on my back. Did a few sets, kinda blah.

Notes: I really like close grip bench. I should be able to get 235 or 245 pretty ok in the next couple weeks, so I’d love to see my CGBP go up to 275 for 5. That’d be lovely. Rear delt flyes hurt like a mother.

I’d been doing facepulls twice a week but I’m gonna throw these in on Mondays. Everything else was fine. I didn’t go THAT easy, but I left a little in the tank. This should carry me through the rest of summer.

And by the way, I’m inviting myself to the 500 deadlift by January! BRING IT!

Damn, the BOI is gonna be Dead Lifting a collective 3000 pounds or so come 2009

Sweet, the more the merrier in the race to 500. I’m not buying t-shirts for all you punks though!

I feel like Tom Hanks in Castaway. “Look what I have created.”

So, we pair off or something ?

and im just gonna say that i trust everybody here, but video or a picture would just be cool.

I would love to have a gym at my house either in the basement or garage. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the space for it.

You can bet your ass though that my next house will have enough room home for a home gym.

Oooooo, the buddy system! I call JB as my buddy! And yes, I think a video is a must if that’s possible.

I’m a little behind you boys in the deadlift category, but seeing your collective goal of 500lbs up from low 400’s got me to thinking. My best to date had been 315x2 so I’m gonna hit a 405 deadlift by January.

Sweet, welcome aboard!

JStines:

Mind if I tag along? My goal was 405 raw by January. Grip strength is my nemisis. I can buy T-shirts. Actually with some of the numbers being thrown around in here I would think you guys are expereinced in taking little guys like mes lunch money.

Now if I could get my BP to look more like my squat I would be happy.

Had sort of a shit weekend so I am really looking forward to killing the weight or myself in tonights session.

I love this fucking thread.

Heres to crushing it.

The more the merrier! That’s the whole point of this thread

Im buddying with you then bro. my best to date is 315x3 so it’d be cool to race with you to 405.

Its gonna be pretty expensive to send the winning T’shirt for you tho

Josh: Have you ordered the cage etc from new? did the other equipment from craigslist not work out for you man?

Im still wanting to convert my garage into a gym, Im hoping I can do it for a birthday present in septempber

Out-buddied by a whole minute!! Gees :stuck_out_tongue:
