You’d need to get to 260 to be 210 lean? That seems kind of excessive… maybe contest condition… shit son.

[/quote] Nah, I meant “eat like a 260 pound guy” while at the same time doing enough cardio and cutoff’s to keep from yourself from actually getting too fat… So you’d end up at 210 (well, probably more like 220, but I don’t think he’s gonna complain lol) with abs showing.

Yesterday’s Chest & Back workout

Bench
135 x13
185 x5
205 x3
215 x5/5/5/5/4

Bench is still moving up nicely. Thinking about taking the work sets up to 225 for 5 sets until I can get 5 or 6 reps for all 5 sets.

Bent-Over BB Row
135 x10
185 x5
205 x5/8/10+2+2

Incline Bench (Hammer Strength)
1 Plate Per side (PPS) x10 explosive reps
2PPS x 6/6/6/5

(Neutral Grip) Chin-ups
bw x6/6/5

Kroc Row
85 x15/20
100 x10

Who the hell cares about your hack-squats josh, you know we just wanted to see your girlfriend.

;D

Kidding brother, nicely done and your quads show it.

Haha CC actually she said I could post up one of her pics from her portfolio. I was like baby, those are portfolio pics they were meant to be like sent all over the place for people to look at. That and she was like I feel bad for saying no at first, you spend a lot of time on that site and those people are no different than your real life friends. lol

So if I can get the pic while here at work later I’ll get it up, might have to wait until tonight when I’m home.

Edit: Oh and thanks for the compliments everybody, especially CC - means a lot coming from you! =)

Ha, I have a feeling that you’ll end up way stronger than me on leg exercises at some point. (mmmh, let’s see… He trusts me, so maybe I should just tell him to do 6 quad and 8 hamstring exercises, super-slow and with supersets and negatives and that that is what Dante now recommends too… Then there’s no danger of him surpassing me, bwhahahahahaha)

Er, just loud thinking, never mind me.

All jokes aside, we need to organize a boi meeting sometime…

Then I can eat all of you and finally reach 300 lbs.

Ok guys here’s my favorite pic form her portfolio. I’ll put just a regular one up from my cell phone too if you want. I actually tried to email one to my work email already but work email is down at the moment so it wont go through.

Why do you think I’ll end up way stronger than you on leg exercises? They just aren’t your strong point or you hate them? I am not personally going for a current day bodybuilder physique, I don’t like the overly massive legs look. Definitely want to keep them under 30", I’m thinking on bulk I’d like to get them up to about 29-30" and hope that when I diet down they are still about 28" defined.

And people have the nerve to state that good-looking chicks don’t dig muscular guys, ha!

From what you’ve said about her so far it looks like you found yourself a perfect match… Congrats, those are hard to find

hey, figure i can try this for additional motivation.

yesterdays workout

bb squat 185 x 11/8/6/5
185 x 10/7/5/3
185 x 7/3/3/2

leg press 340 x 15/13/6/4
leg ext 80 x 10/8/4/3
leg curl 80 x 12/6/3/1

each / means i took ten breaths then continued the exercise. I know the weights are light to some of you, but hey, everyone’s got to start somewhere.

damn dude youre banging a model?

…and youre hacksquating over 500 pounds? seriously dude, youre an asshole.

as for me; hit back again today, improved on the deadlift tremendously from last time.

Heres last week’s deadlift numbers:

385x5 385x2 335x5 335x1

heres this weeks

385x5 385x5 385x3 355x3

im not sure if i want to to either bump up the rep minimum per set for example in the sets above i stopped at 5 reps and maybe i could increase it 7 or 8 before stopping the set

second option would be to hit 5 reps on all 3 sets and aim to hit ~3 on the 4th with the same weight (385)

third option would be to jump up to 405 and see where that takes me.

…descisions descisons

so you only did 6 sets total?

id suggest since youre just starting out you try some basics and drop the rest pausing techniques.

why not try hitting straight sets of ~10 on the squat

12-15 on the leg press

and ~6-8 on the leg curl

use about 4 working sets for each.

Yeah man I really feel like I have. Definitely feel like a lucky guy. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that she likes to lift? I think she’s up to repping RDLs 135 lbs. for 10 reps.

She’s pretty focused on working on her ass/hams at the moment because her quads are already big enough in her mind, and her other big goal is to be able to do her first pullup from a dead hang.

I really think she will get it within the next month or so, then soon she will be reppin em out makin most of the guys look bad bc her form > every guy in the gym.

I’m still workin with her on the progressing heavier weights on the upper body, she loves to lift lower body and doesn’t mind progressing weight, etc…

But for the upper body she is all worried about it getting too big bc her arms are already decent size for a female, etc (though I tell her when she drops the 15 lbs she wants to, which would put her at like fitness model leanness with abs for sure, that her arms will be smaller)

You’re one bloody show-off, you know that ;D

But hey, awesome man, be sure to keep her around!

I do of course expect to get an invitation (paid flight ticket as well)
to your marriage and that most of the cake goes to me.

You should let her post her progress in here so that she can chase
teh ghey away

First bit of advice from me would be to balance things out man. You’re hitting 3 quad exercises and 1 hamstring exercise. That seems to be a very common theme.

Also I agree with Livefromthe781 about dropping rest pausing at your level. Its really more of an intermediate/advanced technique that I don’t think should be done until you’re experienced enough to really push yourself to the limit and safely.

Yeah man I definitely plan to keep her around. =) And my bad, wasn’t trying to show off haha.

Anyway I was actually just telling her last Saturday that I’m going to get a 2nd journal to log all of her Saturday workouts in to track weight and progress. I’m not with her M-Th for her lifting usually but I always train her on Saturday. Her split, which she picked herself currently looks like this.

M - Back
T - Chest
Wed - Legs
Thurs - Shoulders/Arms
Fri - off/cardio
Saturday - Full Body, and she goes heavier on this day vrs the others.

She picked this split and I told her we can work with it as long as it doesn’t start making her feel too run down or weak come Saturday and so far it seems to be going fine. I think I’ll start logging all her Saturday workouts since I train her on that day and I’ll post them up in here, maybe.

Just got back from attempting to cripple my legs:

Squats
warmup 135 xwhatever it took to feel warm and get form grooved
225 x5
245 x6
265 x6
275 x5

Romanian Dead Lift
135 x13
225 x12
315 x10
365 x6

Leg extension
Setting “10” x 12/12
“11” x12

Lying Leg Curl
80 x10/10
85 x12

Basically, what happened here is that I went balls out today and could barely walk out of the gym. Got back to the office and had to walk up 22 steps to the engineering department. I barely made it up. Down was not much easier.

Josh, Nice Hack Squat!

Your girl sounds cool as hell too (not to mention, she’s also very pretty) - lucky you!

Thanks man, for both compliments.

Those hacks felt WAY slower and more painful than they look in the video. When I see how fast they seemed to go up in the video it really made me wish I had pushed one more, but that 7th one felt SLOW. Next week I’ll aim for 9-10 reps.

Pretty good numbers on those RDLs man. I like RDLs a lot but I’ve pretty much stopped anything that I feel directly targets my ass because its just way too damn big.

i dont know if i have you mixed up with someone else or not, but if youre the guy im thinking of, you can RDL 365x6 but can only pull 405x1?

I’ve only recently grown an ass (much to my wife’s approval!) so I’ll be hitting
RDL’s and lying leg curls for a while yet

Obviously RDL’s and Rack Pulls help with the top portion of the deadlift, but what helps with the starting portion (i.e. below the knee)? When I pulled 405 last week, it was smooth sailing from the knee up, but not pretty at all from the floor to the knee. I feel like this is my biggest barrier in upping my deadlift towards 5 plates
