Brandon Lilly Injury

Shocking injury - I’m guessing most of the damage is from the fact he fell on his knees with the weight?

I wonder if he had any idea this might happen. He posted on you tube he felt healthier than ever with no joint pain anywhere 1-2 weeks ago. I’d hate to go for a rep and rip my knee cap in two out of nowhere.

I think it’s a shame that this kind of drama is being involved in strength sports. People will turn on someone just as fast as they looked up to them. It’s as if we’re all looking for something to distract from ourselves and what’s actually important. Who gives a fuck what Brandon Lilly did? Even if all that is true, it wouldn’t make me think any less of him as a person or a lifter. Only thing that would make me think otherwise is if he chopped my moms head off or something. We’re all guilty.
I agree… What really stands out to me is how you hear people preaching we need to unify powerlifting to one federation to legitimize it. Then you read all the constant gossip and petty bullshit about, he stole, he banged the neighbor, hes a shitty person blah blah blah. So its obvioius why theres a ton of feds.

But I do wonder this being that i wasnt involved before the interweb era was it always like this? or did people actually say this shit to a persons face. If that was the case i invison the all meets being like WWE wrestle mania… I personally givenofucks about any of the BS because I know not one single person involed… But I dont mind reading the shit on my 30 min lunch break

Not that I cross fit but kind of ironic how much crap cross fit is taking for the injury to that poor guy’s back but no one is questioning the sanity of the tremendous amount of weight used in powerlifting and all the freak and horrible injuries related to powerlifting. I am not against either cross fit or powerlifting to each his own life has risk just seems a little hypocritical when no one makes a big deal out of injuries that occur in other strength sports.
It wasn’t programing related. It isn’t nearly as severe of an injury either.

But, yes, it’s been brought up that meets should use safety chains.

Know one knows even exactly how Kevin ogars injury happened may be related to fatigue but hard to say. Seems to me both were freak accidents just weird how one was treated so differently given the fact it was a very bad injury albeit not as bad as Kevin ogars injury.

You could also say because of all the gear the powerlifter was using allowed him to lift a weight that his skeletal structure could not handle. Both injuries definitely make you pause and reflect a little on what one is doing especially if its more for health and physique reasons than competitive reasons.

What gear was Brandon using?

I read that entire shitstorm before Sparkle deleted it. Props to Dan Green for sticking up for his wife, although all his comments were along the lines of “she has a right to her opinion.” He never actually agreed with her. He also hinted that his wife has disliked Brandon for quite some time.

Juggernaut had to take down the fundraiser anyway for some kind of legal reasons related to Brandon’s insurance not covering him because of his “pro” status. They refunded everyone’s money.

The vast majority of comments though were just people shit talking each others’ numbers and dick measuring and challenging people to meets to settle their internet score. Love powerlifting.
Man, I don’t think Dan Green can be defended in this.

Sure, you can choose to separate him from his wife if you want. But then you have to reflect on how someone like Dan Green could marry such an imbecile. The woman’s name is Sparkle for Christ’s sake…that’s like red flag level >9000.

He may not be the one expressing such an idiotic, tasteless opinion, but he deliberately chose that sort of company. This makes me question his intelligence and maturity, and it certainly makes me lose respect for him.

I once dated a girl like Sparkle, and then I KILLED IT WITH FIRE AND RAN AS FAR AWAY AND AS FAST AS I COULD.

haaaaaa exactly!! jesus. they were childhood sweethearts as far as i heard. it really goes to show what that first love bullshit will do to a guy. i have multiple intelligent friends in all other areas of their lives, who are basically mindless drooling sheep to their cunt other halves. ive always been fascinated by it. i wonder when they hit a certain age will their eyes be opened to reality

Maybe, but I would say only a small minority of people truly know what their spouse is like before they marry. Women can disguise their true nature for a long, long time. But like you said, her name is also Sparkle so who knows.

thats why it always blows my mind when people get married young, or early in a relationship. the chances of her being a fucking monster are decent, and if she has a vagina, the chances of her being utterly insane is 100%

Oh, and if I hear one more mongoloid play the, “it’s her right to state her opinion, man” card, I’m going to pull out what little hair I have.

Yea, it’s absolutely her right. It’s also equally mine and everyone else’s right to call her on her abject stupidity. I don’t need to hear for the umpteenth time that some moron is allowed to state their opinion because I’m well aware of that fact.

But apparently the flip side of being criticized for opinions that you freely publicized is somehow not OK. Howsabout someone explains that to me?

Powerlifting gear knee wraps, squat suit.

True, but that just leads to the next question of how a guy like Dan Green could make it this far in life without learning that?

I’ll tell you how to avoid women like that: Don’t date a girl with a stripper name who can’t name 5 states in the US.

I mean come on. You may not know how awful a girl’s personality is, but you can damn sure figure out what kind of IQ she has within hours of meeting her.

Brandon was not wearing either of those things. He had knee sleeves and was wearing a singlet. You may be thinking of a different person/injury.
jeep7588 wrote:

None of those things, in fact.

Hard to tell from video I guess you both were there then I guess a singlet and knee sleeves don’t help.

LOL

How could you not immediately tell that he was wearing neither a squat suit nor knee wraps? Such would be instantly apparent to anyone with the slightest inkling of experience in powerlifting.

I wish I was as cool as you. I know absolutely nothing about powerlifting, never used knee wraps. That was perfectly clear on the video. Got to love internet forums

I wish I had the time to post 5000 times.

You’re in the powerlifting section and you’ve been on the site since '05 :expressionless:

But if you truly know nothing about powerlifting I don’t know why you would comment that he was wearing gear in the first place.

Is it possible Sparkle is just pissed that Lilly’s injury has taken the spotlight off her hubby for breaking a record that has been untouched for like 40 years? We all know what happens when ignorant and immature people get butt hurt.
