Brandon Curry Gets Pro Card!

I don’t disagree with that at all and none of that applies to me-- I don’t have a motivation problem, or an eating problem, I don’t have a food preparation problem, nor an overcomplication problem. I’ve never needed any handholding in the gym or pretty much anywhere else-- it certainly doesn’t mean that I’m not interested in hearing about someone’s routine.

I’m not here to “learn to lift” either, but you’ll never hear me claim to everything about anything.

You have to admit that ‘The Bodybuilding Lifestyle’ includes lifting. That may just include asking someone bigger, like someone who just got their pro-card “Hey, so what’s your training look like?”.

Ironically, it seems my post way way over analyzed…

What about the lifestyle would you like to discuss?

I haven’t read those threads from Gifted in a while, but I have made a thread about my own training before and the responses I got were as if it was too simplistic and chaotic…as if because I don’t have everything charted out while dropping names of personal trainers then it must only work if you are some alien hybrid.

How specific would you like for him to have gotten? If someone asks me about rep ranges, I say, “it varies”…because IT DOES. If I go to the gym tonight, it isn’t like I am going to stop at exactly 8 reps simply because that is part of some plan if I can do more. I am going to increase the weight on the next set and do as many reps as I can get.

If someone asks me about what days I train what body parts, I tell them, “It varies”…because IT DOES. I won’t be training chest unless it is healed up from the previous workout no matter what is written on a piece of paper. I’ll train whatever is rested that day that doesn’t cause overlap.

There are no specifics and that one point is what most beginners have yet to grasp.

That is why they need a basic guideline to follow while being informed that they will STILL need to go through trial and error to find what works best for them…instead of simply being little fanboys and following someone else into eternity.

I’m not saying you are that way…but when someone claims he should have been more specific, I can only wonder why they think he needed to be.

There is an interview on BB.com (yeah, I know, crap site, but has a few gems here and there)
with him where he gives every detail about his routine and techniques used… but it’s from a while back, he was smaller then, but supposedly natural (quite possible that’s true imo, especially with his genetics for muscle shape).

Damn, those pictures are nothing compared to the vids.

Anybody know if he’s still actively posting somewhere ?

It damn sure isn’t here.

This site effectively ran off most of the people who stand out to that degree. I doubt most serious lifters browse through this site and really feel welcome anymore. The ones who have been here for years are still around because we know what this place USED TO be like.

He is BSN sponsored now so giving this site free publicity by posting here may not be in the cards for him.

ProfX, the problem was that he wasn’t functionally fit. Maybe if he would have done less bulking and some more bosu ball squats he could have hung here

In that BB.com interview he actually stated that he is a fan of functional muscle or some such…

Well, you see? What you (Prof) just typed about your training is insightful. I don’t think that’s chaotic-- it’s “body intelligence”.

Very recently, I’ve been training the same way. The past couple weeks I’ve had the best lift days in a long time and they were both off the cuff-- 2 PRs. I like that. I went in kind of thinking I was going to do a “pull” type workout, but the squat rack was open and kinda felt strong, so did them and got a PR.

In one of those threads, Gifted said he was doing some supersets… OK, great-- that’s all I need. I can run with with that.

In another thread someone said they supersetted 2 movements. Great! I might not have thought to do that, maybe I’ll try it. I

didn’t need them to say “Take a shit first, don’t forget to wash hands, do 3 reps at 4-0-1-0 tempo, scratch your balls and count to 10”… But, I did get a little nugget to file away if I plateau or get bored or just want to experiment or if I’m talking about lifting to someone else say “Some guy on a forum did this and it works for him, but not me, maybe you might like it”…

This conversation is case in point, and that’s why I (usually) enjoy your posts is that you add a little perspective . More ‘kids’ on the board here would do well to take the simple approach you preach.

I just wanted to respond that to yours and the other 2 posts that I’m not looking for complicated, just interested in hearing what someone bigger has done or is doing.

With that, it’s gym time… I’m thinking about doing a push day because I’m feeling it…

I think having a guy like that around is inspirational even if I don’t have his genetics or will never be a pro-bblder. Sometimes it’s enough to have them post and to see the changes even if the routine or the diet or whatever isn’t what you specifically think you need.

Plus if you follow the sport at all you can appreciate a pro being around without placing a value on their posts or even their workout. It’s just neat to have them around.

I’ve heard that Paul Dillet had a terrible work ethic (have no idea personally of course) and that he was a mutant that could grow working out half-ass. If he posted here and said his massive delt routine was some high-rep lateral raises and a smoothie at the bar then the truth is that it wouldn’t hold a lot for the average guy training-wise.

Still would be cool to have him around and admire his physique.

But I’d bet he’d get flamed out of here for being lazy, cheating with AAs, or being an over-muscled bloatfest.
