with nice counterweight two dumbbells smh.

anyway, i wish i could train at Metro Flex. theres a gym with the same kind of intensity where i live that Det trains at but they dont have the kind of equipment for BBers its all Stronman, PLing and Oly.

lol@ the guy from MetroFlex shitting on the internet gurus and their scientific formulas.

guy works with Branch and Ronnie, 2 Olympia level competitors, not one author on this site can compete with that.

do you live near boston? because im moving back in july and i want to be at a non-shitty gym

www.totalperformancespots.com that’s the gym I train at, and the one he’s mentioning.

I doubt branch would be taking significantly more drugs than the others. I’m sure they are all taking the maximum effective dosage. He may just genetically respond very well to them (like lee priest for example).

excited…work all day, eat all day, come home, change and go train, then come home and eat again.

others wouldn’t get it, but your right it is nice to be part of the lifestyle, even if it’s to a smaller degree.

Sidebar: If Kai was 290lbs three weeks out, what do you think he’ll be stepping on stage at?

Missed this at first, Live, but both those guys claim that he is a master motivator. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? He may not even know fuck all about lifting and dieting, but if he can make you train harder… perhaps it really is just all about intensity.
I trained at Metroflex for a time when I was living in Arlington, and Brian has some pictures of himself on stage years back, and he was no slouch. He’s still damn strong. So he definitely knows about the lifting part, dieting who knows. I will say that just walking in the fucking place raises your intensity. I was on the flat bench there one day with a whopping 245 (sarcasm), and after my first rep, I hear a, “Yep!!”. Then came rep two, “Come on, yep!”. I was like, wtf? I finish my set, look up, and Brian nods his head. King Kong didn’t have shit on me that day

I like Kai. And, no homo but I thought that some of the things he was saying in one of the interviews were very touching, e.g. about being away from home and it being valentine’s day.

Well, it sure isn’t about scientific formulas.
98 percent of the people on this very site unintentionally demonstrate that perfectly

except even Chris Shugart will tell you that intensity is the most important thing in bodybuilding. it doesnt matter if you eat rice and cabbage at 1pm or 1:23pm, it doesnt that timed set or that timed negative or superset with bands and a bosu ball, that shit doesnt matter if youre being a pussy about it and not going all out.

intensity always wins and like the guy said, some people have genetics and could win a national qualifier just pussy footing around but for you and me, the regular guys we gotta bust our ass day in and out.

yup.

tell them to add some hammer strength and a leg press for the love of god. theres no hardcore bodybuilding gyms pretty much in america let alone the north shore. Super Fitness used to be up there but it got bought out, Mike’s Gym was a pretty grimey place and theyd even change the radio for ya if you asked (R Kelley is no good for squats) but even that place started turning weak b/c guys were getting complaints at the front desk for being “too intimidating”

for some reason in this area theres a ton of big guys with no where to go. some kid was old school rowing 7 plates w/ a barbell jammed into a calf raise yesterday.

if TPS wont cater to us, then i hope the rumors about a Metroflex Boston are true.

He’s really well spoken. seems like an educated guy, wonder why he doesnt have some fancy job in addition to BBing

@ Ceph/Live:

Guys, I know! “… perhaps it really is just all about intensity” was said tongue-in-cheek.

What you guys are pointing out - the fact that the whole intensity thing is lost on the masses because they are so caught up in analyzing minutiae to try and find the secret ingredient - seems to me it should be glaringly obvious.

It’s a resume problem.

Interviewer: “Okay, let’s see… past jobs - ‘grapefruit juicer’? Did you work for Tropicana or something?”

Kai: “Well, not exactly…”

It’s the internet, pointing out the obvious is quite necessary here as people generally turn their common sense off the second they start looking at a PC screen

I agree. I don’t know how or why, but when he speaks about training, I just feel inspired, ya know? I think he’d make a great champion for the sport, grapefruit or no grapefruit. (By champion I mean representative, not necessarily contest winner).

I hope you aren’t out 50. It would be great to see Branch win a bigger show. However, I think he will have a tough time overcoming Vic, Kai, and Tony though. But it is bodybuilding and anything can happen.

On a side note did you see the size of his fucking triceps in his most recent videos?

kai has been competing for a while and is just new to the pro scene…and to be honest I don’t think he is broke anymore…with MD and Musclemeds on his side I’d say he’s making ok if not great money…

I think vic not showing his leg is a good idea…some asshole would pick it apart and see something that isn’t there and then the internet/mags/etc would give him negative attn leading to the show…or he has a 19" thigh and he’s hiding lol…

Branch is grainy tho and I like how he believes in carbs even precontest…to each body their own…thats something I’ve believed for a long time…everybody is different so find what works for you and stick with it…not what some mag or internet guru says…

Also favorite quote of the branch series “you wanna pay me 10 grand I’ll make a workout for you” lol

DG

last time he was on MD training legs he didnt have a car which was 4/13/08 so idk, maybe he’s gotten something since then at least i hope so.
yea but since 4/13/08 he has gotten a solid MD contract and the contract with Musclemeds. They could pay pennies…but it’s pennies more than he had lol
