Brain Function Boosters

My experience:

Modafinil: Tried 100mg-300mg in the AM with and without my prescribed AdderallXR 25mg. About 250mg of moda equals the same brain stimulation (wakefulness?) as the adderall. The mind was wide awake but the body was missing the amphetamine. 100mgmoda + Adderall = TOO MUCH stimulation.

L-Theanine: I’ve been taking this on and off for 8yrs. A good anti-anxiety product, also does wonders to cut the jitters of excessive caffeine use and to get to sleep faster. I cap it with caffeine 100mg/100mg, better than a cup of coffee in the afternoon.

Piracetam: Works but haven’t found the right timing and dosage.

Rhodiola Rosea: Works, may have over dosed last time.

Choline Citrate: Take 1gm. a day. It’s treated as a supplement.

Question: I’ve tried oxiracetam, are you supposed to “feel” it working? What’s the dosage your taking? Any one have any side effects other than feeling sleepy after an hour or two?I want to take it on the days I have class and when studying.

Phenibut update

I decided to go one week with taking 250mg phen nightly with 3 caps ZMA. Have been sleeping pretty well with some fogginess in the morning but nothing intolerable. However due to a screwy schedule I’ve been working out first thing in the morning. While I thought that not feeling totally awake would hurt my gym performance it turns out that I’ve been able to get to grind out a few extra reps without the usual jittery failure I get. To qualify, I’ve been skipping breakfast and drinking 3 scoops of Surge with Power Drive and creatine on the way to the gym so this may have helped my performance, but I normally have 2 scoops peri-workout anyways.

But it had me thinking that possibly there are a few of us who could benefit from the opposite of stimulants, something that calms the CNS down so it is easier to attain a quality muscle contraction. I believe some guy mentioned he takes a decent amount of phenibut before going rock climbing and at first I thought he was crazy but now I’m chaning my mind.

I have felt oxiracetam’s effect, double the strength of piracetam and no sides effects afterwards. I was particularly flooded with weird and deep thoughts… my internal dialog was like a string of never ending poetry.

Dose : 800mg

I called in “sick” yesterday because I was sick of being there. I’ve had daily chores out of hand since getting back from vacation. I planned on getting a lot done, so I decided to take .75g geranamine with an energy drink.

I’ve taken up to 1.25g, but I feel like 3 pills is the way to go. I haven’t noticed any greater results from taking more, but it does build up a tolerance and I take it every few weeks.

Anyways, my sick day, I mowed the lawn in the heat, did a few loads of laundry, sprayed my weeds, did the dishes, worked out in very hot conditions, played some sand vollyball, and finished it off with the new xfiles movie. Usually the heat from the workout would leave me exhausted this time of year, but I got through it fine.

The more and more I use the geranamine the more I appreciate it. Its cheap, leaves me feeling wide awake all day, and I can get plenty done with little effort. My lifting is good, the only con I see is it kills my appetite. Ok for a day, but not something you want to mess with everyday because you will drop some weight.

But if you are looking to drop some weight I would recommend this for the appetite suppressing qualities.

I have some horny goat weed and maca in the mail so I’ll update these, although they aren’t necessarily brain boosters, more mood boosters, sexual stimulants, and adaptogens. Anyone have experience with these?

I just got my order of:

Picamilone 50mg
Adrafinil 300mg
Desmopressin 50 microgram spray

I’ve also experimented with:

Vinpo
Oxiracetam
Aniracetam
Huperzine
DMAE
Choline

I really like the Adrafinil. A great mellow high. Keeps mental fatigue in check without the stimulant effect. I definitely recommend.

I also really like Aniracetam and I’ll be making another order for that and vinpo.

I haven’t really noticed anything with the others, but I don’t really know if I’m supposed to or not.

I haven’t got a chance to take a couple squirts of the Desmopressin yet, but I hear good things and I’m pumped to try it. I’ll update when I’ve taken some. Also I’ve only taken one dose of the Picamilone so it’s too early to tell the effects.

I’ll update in a couple days. If anyone wants specifics on my experiences, pm me.

Well, tried the desmopressin for the first time. While I noticed a great “awake” feeling, I can’t say that it boosting my comprehension/memory like I’ve heard it’s supposed to do. It definitely cuts off the urine flow. Sprayed it first thing in the morning and usually have to wiz about every 1-2 hrs after drinking my morning coffee. I prolly only pissed 2 in 10 hrs or so. I’m no expert, but that probably isn’t something you want to do everyday so I’m only going to use it when I have an important lecture or something.

The picomilone seems to have a nice effect. Seems similar to vinpo, but maybe better. I’ve only been on it for about 4 days and it’s supposed to get better over time and then plateau like vinpo. So I’m expecting good things.

Got a question for you noop experts though. Is it a good idea to take all these vasodilators? I’m not taking them all at once now because it seems counterproductive. I kind of feel like it might cause issues if one were to take vinpo, desmopressin, and picomilon in full doses everyday. What do you guys think?

Been taking 250mg a night consistently for a few weeks now. There is no longer really any kind of headache in the morning and sleep is noticeably more sound. I plan on continuing the nightly use until I run out. Does anyone have any info on dependency for low doses of phen?


I have been using Phenibut lately, for the past 2 weeks. Experiences: better sleep, still waiting for the alertness and recall to pick up. The mid-afternoon sleepiness is fading off.

Used Aniracetam and Oxiracetem in the past
Experiences: Far better recall ability, a bit of improvement in alertness but a mid-afternoon sleepiness. The sleepiness is standard with me, so I wouldn’t factor too much into that one.

I plan to keep the Aniracetam and Oxi in the rotation for studies. The Phenibut will stay too until I’ve built a history in order to assess it’s usefulness with me. So far, so good. I plan to add Moda or Vinpo in the future… likely in the near future. Awesome thread, and thanks again for starting it up. Very helpful stuff!! It has improved my lifestyle in a way I have always hoped for.

Well they’re not all vasodilators from what I understand, at least if they all have a VD effect, then it’s discriminatory to the brain, or you would get a big drop in BP.

Incidentally, the desopressin is not such a great idea IMO, due to the fact that is in an anti-diuretic and so will cause fluid retention and a rise in BP.[/quote]

Yeah, I’m not impressed with Desmo anyway. Everything I’ve heard says you get a feeling like the fog has been lifted within 15 mins or so. Never felt anything from it. No boosts of any kind, whatsoever. Not worth the money.

I’m not impressed with the Pico ether. Haven’t felt much of anything from it either. I think I was better off with the stack I started with, which was: Ani, Oxi, Vinpo, Hup A, DMAE, and Ginko. Felt a lot better on that stack so I put in an order for some Ani and Vinpo.

Anyone got any suggestions on a good “mood enhancing” supp? Lately I just feel blah and unmotivated. That might be part of the reason (or it is the resason) that I haven’t felt too much of an effect off the last stack.

I can’t pin down which item or combination of items has helped me, but I’ve had a lot of benefit from a combination of:

  1. EFA’s - but fish alone did little for me
  2. Antioxidants, especially of fruit origin (including Biotest Superfood)
  3. Life Extension Foundation Cognitex
  4. DMAE
  5. DHEA
  6. SAMe
  7. Acetyl-L-carnitine

And, I don’t know if relevant, but I at the same time was taking anti-glycation agents (Beta-7, TMG)

See, I took alcar based on a Poliquin’s Tips article that TC wrote a few years back.

I took it upon rising, at about 3 grams per dose on an empty stomach. Felt nothing.

Same with Power Drive, though I hear some people taking multiple servings per day in a large water bottle and that this is what works for them. I may try that.

Have a super shake in mind that I will have twice a day, three days a week for general health, but am still in search of a badass cognitive stack (mood, memory function).

Just had a few questions that I couldn’t find answered in the thread:

How long of a time should I ramp up the vinpo to peak amounts? As I understand it so far, start with 10 mg/day, and go up over time to increase tolerance. But how long (generally) should that take? ie 10mg 1st week, 20 mg 2nd week, 30 3rd week?

What is the peak amount to be aiming for with Pira? (It seems like the better one for me, to help me calm down during exams and focus clearly). Around 800mg - 1,000mg/day is what I believe I saw on some of the other responses. (However, these usually included other compounds). Same question about the time to reach peak amounts.

Any help would be great.
