All I have to say is, thank God men like George Washington didn’t go the Snowden route and criticize the Royal Crown while hiding in say France.
Snowden is so brave… o_o
What do you want him to do? Stay here and get fucked over? Funny how President Obama is open to dialogue regarding the NSA, yet without Snowden we wouldn’t even have a clue what was going on. The govt. is shutting down whistleblowers left and right. The beauty of the slow leak of all the Snowden info by Greenwald is that the info leak is just slow enough to catch the govt. lying the whole way. I can’t believe you are acting like Snowden is a coward. He had a great job, making great money yet gave all that up to inform the public. That is a hero my friend. The freaking head of the NSA, who outright lied to all of us, is now in charge of the “independent” group investigating the NSA. Really, and you don’t think Kangaroo courts are happening?
Ya I think he’s a coward. I’m not saying he is wrong. I’m not saying he hasn’t given up a lot to come out against the gov. I’m not siding with the NSA or Obama. However I believe there is a right and wrong way to everything and Snow den hiding in other countries makes him a coward.
How should he have handled it? If he would have stayed in America he would be behind bars right now and would have zero voice. If you felt the govt. wouldn’t give you a fair shake, wouldn’t you be crazy to stay here? Why does the govt. constantly have to adjust their story due to the slow leak of Greenwald? Surely if they will lie to the American people, you can’t possibly think Snowden will be treated fairly.
If he had stayed in America he would not necessarily be behind bars.
Like I said, it is my opinion, that there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. I don’t beleive he did everything he could have within the law to bring what he knows to light. Why didn’t he go to the ACLU? Why not go to the U.S. media and tell his story without giving up classified information ?
Like I said, I don’t disagree with him or his stance, just his method. Why do we remember John Hancock’s name? Because he didn’t act like a coward when push came to shove that’s why. We also don’t know what Snowden is doing in Russia, Russia of all places. The same Russia that doesn’t exaclty have a rich history of treating her citizens very well mind you. How do we know he isn’t spoon feeding intelligence to Putin right now?
I’m not saying the guy should martyr himself, but I don’t beleive he has America’s best interest at heart when he’s half a world away. Again, Washington didn’t say fuck you England and then run to France…Martin Luther King Jr. stood up to oppression much worse than this, imo, and his bravery CHANGED America. Running is what a child does, maybe he’s not a coward, but he’s not brave, imo.

How would him going to jail make him any less of a coward? I think the Russia thing was kind of interesting just to see how the government tried to handle it. Without that he would have been arrested and fade away from the headlines even faster. If anything that kept him in the daily news even though there were no new leaks.
Also if he is a coward, what is everyone else who had his job and kept silent?
If he went to jail, he would be afforded due proces, which means every single piece of evidence he had could have been presented at that time. No hidding behind skype, no mysterious phone calls, and no 15 minutes of fame.
Like I said, Russia of all places. The only place I can think of worse than Russia would of been North Korea or China.
The other’s that have kept silent are also cowards, certainly more so than Snowden.
To be clear, I have nothing against Snowden, I just don’t agree with how he has gone about this and it’s just my opinion. I realize not everyone agrees some see him as a traitor (I don’t) and some think he’s a hero (I also don’t).
