Box Squats Better for Push Pull?

For someone competing in push pull, would box squats be more of a staple than regular free squatting?

have you found squats or box squats to have more of an effect on your pull? Are you using gm’s? What is your deadlift stance and squat stance like?

I dont think I am advanced enough to determine that yet. I use to be a thrower, now I had to quit that and I wanted a sport and powerlifting, push-pull is what I’m gonna begin getting into.
I never trained DL directly until recently and it’s been going up since then, other than that I’ve just squatted and its gone up with my squats.
I’m not that strong in general.
Squat is 300 and DL is 385 (405 w straps)

GM’s as in good mornings? No I am not using them.

I DL with a stance shoulder width apart or slight wider, same with squats, I try to go as low as possible. I’m not a fan of the powerlifter style squat unless I use a box.

So, anyone else?
Regarding the info above, would box squats be better than free squats for push pull?

Whats your reasoning for wanting to only compete in push pull? Whats wrong with the squat?

preference.
I don’t like the PL stance or depth. I feel squats should be trained deep as possible. I just like that better and I’ll lose lbs on my total doing it my way compared to theirs and I’m not gonna switch it up just for competition.
I’d just rather compete push pull.

Probably box squats

probably should take up oly lifting if you dont like the powerlifting squat.

…just sayin.

yeh, do both though, in fact high box squats after your deep squats might be good, whats the weakest part of your pull?

Box squats are much, much less quad intensive than a regular free squat, hitting the posterior chain like a ton of bricks instead. Also it’s more of a deadstop exercise (like a DL). DL=deadstop, posterior chain lift. There you go.

Do both regardless, find what works for you.

This guy probably loses poundage on his squat too by going real low:

You can power lift at almost any gym, to olympic lift u need to right kinda bar, plates, platforms, shoes, coaching. etc.
Sucks, it was WAY fun.
