Box Squat to Free Squat Carryover?

Yeah. Except his stance is too narrow and his bar position is too high. He needs to sit back more. Also, I think he needs to drive the traps harder and from that video I don’t think he adequately spread the floor therby by not utilizing his posterior chain to it’s full potential…

He must not get on the internet much. Maybe somebody here can set him straight. Turn him into a real lifter.

Too bad Nee is training for strongman, and could probably care less about his free squat carryover, and his free squat numbers in general. That narrow stance is something you shouldn’t be surprised to see in such athletes, and is also common with sprinters and other speed athletes.

knee is a beast. that kid got crazy strong fast.

as stated by tedro, that looks a lot like your box squats(minus hundreds of pounds, ;)), i think it is very appropiate for strongman carryover. i think your box squats are fine, not a whole lot different form you free squat groove with your gear.

BTW, I know the folks from AZ who used to train him. They are now in Boston area. I knew about him long before he hit the circuit so don’t try to speak to me about what he trains for, son.

This is totally off topic , but are you up in Boston? If so, you ever train over CJ Murphy’s place over in Everett?

Not in Boston but can put you in touch with pretty much anyone you want.

PM me if that is your deal.

I think you basically have to do them as close to your squat groove as possible to get the most benefit.

Last squat session came to a screeching halt when I got stapled on the last rep and had to dump the bar. Then I realized I was doing them MUCH narrower than usual and toes pointed forward. I was basically just sitting down like normal, instead of trying to stay in my groove.

Yeah, I realize that. He was just tying to take a shot at me because of this thread, http://www.T-Nation.com/tmagnum/readTopic.do?id=2008974, but he didn’t pick a very good example.
