Bottom Pecs

Hi All. Okay, how do I get my lower pecs to be stronger and look better? I’ve heard from a lot of people that decline sucks - what do you guys/gals think? Anyone here have any great work-outs for them? Thanks in advance!

Deep dips, slow eccentric.

A slight decline (10-15 degrees) is the best way to work the entire pec mechanically. As you go to a flat press and then up to varying levels of incline, you do not necessarily work more upper chest, you work less lower chest, that’s one of the reasons we get weaker as we go to an incline press.

I don’t think decline sucks at all. In fact, I can isolate my pecs better with decline than flat. I think that the criticism of declines comes from the fact that the range of motion is limited. However, they allow you to handle big weights and hit the lower pecs pretty good. Additionally, they are a great way to minimize shoulder involvement and provide a good alternative for people with bad rotator cuffs.

Dips and declines.

Hate to sound like a machine repeating the guys above, but I’m going to have to go with the deep, slow, dips (weighted with a belt if necessary).
