I had/have a problem. My solution wasn’t the greatest, but it’s better than getting initialed 5 days a week.

Whenever I would crave beer/booze I would either drink a Ginger Ale, or eat like 3 or 4 oreo cookies. It was something about the sugar that made the craving go away.

Went through a lot of Ginger Ale for awhile, but once you get yourself in check, it will slow down.

I drink for the opposite reason. I used to binge on carbs almost nightly. Vodka tonics and bourbon have done wonders for my physique.

That’s too funny.
Ah, but my friend, it’s true. Serial.

Sorry, I meant in a “everyone is special snowflake” type funny. Different things work different ways for different people.

I find that lifting six days a week makes drinking pretty horrible. My metabolism is crazy and my stomach stays full for maybe an hour after a huge meal. Alcohol goes right to my brain, leaves me feeling like shit, and then I’m hung over the next day.

So I’ve cut way back, usually don’t have more than two drinks in the same day (that’s on the days I have any alcohol, not daily), and tend to pass on booze in favor of diet coke or water.

Yeast, candida, fungas lots of carbs and sugars can cause an over growth of any of those and more. Those will cause a person to crave sugars and carbs.
The good bacteria in the gi and stomach need to be replaced.
The ph levels should be checked.

Anyone drink more than their liking?? If so, how’d you curve the habit?
I know what you’re going through.

You need to distance yourself away from the people or things that are making you drink. Itll suck for a while, but you’ll live.

Throw yourself into bodybuilding completely.

Since you’re posting it on here, I doubt you’re anywhere near rock bottom - but the nice thing about rock bottom is you are guaranteed to change for the better.

Also Sam-E, 5-HTP, and Chromium

Drink pop or O’Doul’s … Smoke pot if you need a drug and you can still do it, (in moderation please - remember your lungs).

Lol knew you’d be from England. Have spent a few years there myself. IMO the yanks don’t understand the mentality of the commonwealth countries in general.

I’ve managed to almost completely drop the piss altogether after a decade or so of weekend long bingeing.

Basically I’ve just put the training first. Doing DC you have to record and better all your workouts and you KNOW a big night completely fucks up weeks of progress.

So my desire to reach my physical best surpasses my desire to get a shag. I just use speed dating/facebook/myspace etc to pick up now and the success rate is MUCH better than doing something that lowers your testosterone, increases cortisol, decreases growth hormone and makes you a weak little girl.

I think the every minute satisfaction of being in shape feels better.

And turn your phone off at the weekend. safe

i use to drink atleast 4 times a week fri and sat usual over a carton or a bottle. 6 weeks ago i took a long hard look at myself it was killing my workouts and my relationship. iv not drank since and feel alot better i can workout harder and my misses is alot happier

Liver Cirrhosis tends to put you in your place.

If you aren’t as ‘lucky’ to get that kind of kick up the backside I would agree with whoever said to find a group of friends who don’t drink. It’s tough being the only one not drinking and if you say you’ll have one drink you then impair your ability to say no to the 2nd, 3rd…

Failing that, if you show commitment to being tee total your friends will eventually stop harassing you and accept it, and the results in the gym should provide more than enough motivation.

The thing stopping me is I don’t know anyone that doesn’t drink, in england drinking is such a big part of the culture. It’s perceived as slightly weird if you don’t drink. I have been though phases of not drinking and still happy to go out and drive and eventually you stop getting asked to go out. People I know only tend to socialise with a pint in there hand.

I also don’t know what else there is to do at the weekends but go out and drink. What do people do!?

As I am getting older though the hangovers are getting significantly worse so definately drink a lot less these days and also the metabolism isn’t what is used to be so want to stay in shape.

Go on a low carb diet. Ethanol is a carb, thus, bye bye alcohol.

A drink here and there is not horrible and won’t mess up your training. The key to everything is moderation. If you go out with friends, drink your drink really slow. Or if your friends comment on your lack of alcoholic beverages, just say I’m not in the mood, or lie and say you already had some that night. Or offer to be the DD.

I was caught with a small amount of marijuana during my Sophmore year of college. Considering my clean record and academic performance, the judge found it prudent to let me off with a fine and an agreement to attend a few recovery groups (AA, NA, etc.), rather than scar my record with misdemeanor possession.

Instead of simply dragging myself to meetings and getting nothing out of them, I decided to learn as much as I could from these members of society who had gone to great lengths to change their lives for the better (much the same way some of us have through lifting). I came out of the experience with a better understanding of alcoholics and addicts, and a renewed sense of self.

I would recommend AA for anyone struggling with drinking excessively, though I have never had a problem with the booze myself. I found the meetings full of support and hope, and discovered that the stereotypical dreary, smoke-filled rooms of pathetic drunks are near non-existent. A favorite meeting of mine was full of old-timers, shit-kickers, bikers, and all around BAMFs, all willing to lend a helping hand to their fellow man. Touching, really.

Just my .02. Carry on.

Ethanol is NOT a carbohydrate!
