Which exercises do you guys think would fit together best without being redundant for someone who’s unable to do presses (or really just anything that would aggravate the shoulder)?
Have you tried SWRGB? Those really shouldn’t bother your shoulder, but if even they do then I’d try things like:
Rope pressdowns, a strict Tate press (really more like an extension, only the elbows are pointed out and the bells are brought to the chest rather than forehead), and overhead rope extension (may also have to be strict with these and not add the pullover component if that bothers your shoulder) would probably be the least risky choices.
Not exactly what I personally would choose if there weren’t any injuries to work around, but those should work your triceps from multiple angles and none of them really involve pressing.

Never tried that with an EZ curl bar, only a straight bar. Probably easier on the wrists this way. Good idea.
Yea, it’s definitely easier on the wrists, and I actually think it hits the triceps better. I dont know if you have tried a regular close-grip bench with the E-Z bar, but it’s similar to that. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Yeah, I’ve tried regular close grip with the EZ bar, but didn’t really stick with it since the EZ bar doesn’t fit in most racks (makes it tough to load it up with enough weight). This could be a good way of loading them up with more weight. Next time I need a new triceps movement I’ll definitely give these a shot.

I’m a fan of the weighted bench dip. I and change my hand position to focus on diff heads.
Anybody else using these?
Loudog I just read back through this thread and wanted to add that I like bench dips. I can see how they could be uncomfortable for some people, but if I stretch my shoulders beforehand it isn’t a problem.
I tend to feel regaulr dips more in my chest, so I like the bench dips when I spefically want to hit my triceps. They seem to work well, and you don’t need a spotter like you do with barbell presses, which is nice when lifting alone.

I don’t have a w/o partner either lol
Also try different positions with your shoulders to adjust/limit stress. After doing them for awhile I no longer feel any discomfort.

I dislocated my left shoulder 5 times, twice after I had surgery on it. So I know a good deal about shoulder limitations.
I do smith decline close grips for my main tri movement. Work on hand placement and degree of flare depending on what works best for you. These don’t bother me.
I often don’t have access to a smith machine but thanks for the suggestion. It’s weird, yesterday I set a PR on incline DB bench, but I couldn’t do skull crushers which I wouldn’t think would hurt the shoulders :\
Definitely some discomfort on the DB bench though, but it didn’t seem like it would screw it up more. I’m hesitant to go back to BB benching though because of the more fixed position

What kind of weights are you putting up with the PJR’s, waylander?
ehhh like 135 for 6-8 reps, just depends.
When you’re done working out do you jump off the building and glide home from the gym? Who the hell do you think you are with that back? Ronnie Coleman?
