Unless these guys are UFC competitors, they probably wouldn’t want to meet Ronnie in a dark alley.

its not like ronnie coleman is a fucking cop or something… oh wait he is. ronnie coleman could probably whoop the shit out of a lot of people. that is kinda annoying…

Well, I’m pretty sure the BOR doesn’t mention anything about being a 130 lb pussy who carries a gun everywhere he goes, and is likely to overreact (because they spend most of their lives in abject terror, carrying a gun around)and shoot someone over a minor altercation that might otherwise have ended with just a couple of scrapes and bruises, if even that.

“Bodybuilders” leaves a lot of room for what you mean, but let’s just say it’s a 220+ guy who trains for size and low body fat. In that case you have two attributes to deal with, size and strength…either of which can negate a shit load of skill and speed or whatever else you think the average martial artist brings to the table if he isn’t careful.

I sparred with a guy that outweighed me by a good 50 pounds or so (no sparring isn’t fighting but bear with me) and even though I was more skilled than he was and certainly faster, he pretty much could have killed me with a punch (lucky for me it wasn’t an all out spar but just skill development). The problem is that if he can take any kind of a hit you have a lot more to lose if you screw up.

And on the ground I think it’s harder if he has ANY idea of what to do (or rather what not to do).

Case in point, when Bob Sapp (no skill…yes he trains, but c’mon…NO SKILL) about murdered Nogg (tons of skill on the ground) in a single round. Yes, Nogg won but look at how hard he had to fight to beat Sapp where Nogg was strongest, on the ground.

The reason wasn’t Sapps amazing cat-like reflexes. If was having a huge unskilled strong guy that wanted to beat the crap out of him throwing him around the ring.

Take into that the intimidation factor that a big guy brings and you get a trained fighter that may not commit to a take down or a strike and you have problems. The (unprofessional) fights I have seen where a smaller guy totally owns a larger/stronger opponent has been either from a ballsy striker that keeps the pressure on the larger guy, or from a ground game where the larger guy is completely out of his element.

You got all that from a guy mentioning that he’s likely to have a gun around in case he needs to defend himself against someone bigger and stronger than himself? Impressive mind-reading.
Or conclusion-jumping, whatever.

I liked it better when it came out 15 years ago with Billy Blanks and was called “Showdown”:

Finally someone says it. Let’s look at Ronnie’s chances in a fight

  1. He played D1 Football at Grambling State University. So he can probably tackle someone
  2. He’s a cop. He’s probably gotten SOME training on how to bring someone to the ground
  3. He’s one of the strongest men in the world.

I think he could hold his own.

Let’s not forget that Flex Wheeler and Dexter Jackson are both high-degree back belts.

Jaro Horvath was a wrestling star before he became a bodybuilder. Franco Colombo was a boxing champion.

Sure, bodybuilders aren’t as lethal as MMA fighters or boxers but they’re still a lot better off in fights than disciples of most other sports. Bodybuilders usually start weight training because they were exposed to some sort of contact sport where strength and overpowering opponents was of some importance.

I also imagine it’s harder to choke someone out when they have no neck.

Exactly what I was thinking. If you hang around places where there’s lots of fighting 90% of the smaller men will carry guns.

Metal beats flesh any day of the week.

How about this comparison: A 225lb pro boxer and a 130lb. avg joe with a .38 special…hmmm who would win?

The body builder, because he can

a) hide more guns, due to size

b) handle bigger guns, due to strength

c) handles recoil better

d) probably does not go down after being hit once or twice.

Plus, if someone pulls a gun on you and you have less than 7m to cross, you have plenty of time to get to him and stab the shit out of him or break his neck.

[/quote]
ugh…no…
handling recoil has very little to do with your size and more of your experience with the firearm.
depends on the caliber used, i carry a .45 one is often enough but if its 2 to chest, one to the head.

“Plus, if someone pulls a gun on you and you have less than 7m to cross, you have plenty of time to get to him and stab the shit out of him or break his neck.”

if someone pulls a gun on you and your not already right on top of him, your screwed unless he shoots like ray charles.

I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. yeah, in minor altercations, people have and will pull knives, use baseball bats and other weapons that can kill you. Maybe you grew up in a nice rich little neighborhood and never had to fear getting mugged or didn’t have to worry about violence but the simple fact is that the world is a crazy place and the police aren’t going to be there ALL THE TIME to protect you. when criminals and thugs stop carrying, then so will I. oh yeah and that “130 pound pussy” might just be the person who saves your life someday from someone trying to rob you or kill you.

And i leave you with this quote “God didn’t make man equally, but Smith & Wesson did”
P.S. its a constitutional right to bear arms, so until then I will proudly carry until the pussified liberals pry my guns from my cold dead fingers.

I grew up in a rough neighborhood. I am also military (separated). We were trained on the M9 before deployment. It would still suck to be the type of person who feels as if they need a gun everywhere they go.

I lift for physical dominance. That goes for the weight room or anywhere else. I also have no problem with guns. I have problems with pussies who hide behind them.

Way to completely miss the point.

And no, Brooklyn, NY is generally not considered a place where you would never encounter a mugger with a gun - so, I definitely didn’t grow up in a “nice, rich little neighborhood.”

My point was - assholes with inferiority complexes that carry guns and are hot on the trigger to shoot someone if they feel threatened - and by that I mean something as simple as someone bigger than them making any kind of eye contact - are dangerous and cowardly to boot. Not that their cowardice would prevent me from getting shot to death should I encounter said asshole with gun, but they’re pussies nonetheless.

That’s not meant to indicate any kind of position on removing people’s right to bear arms. It’s just an observation about dangerous, cowardly little assholes that look to solve their myriad of personal & social problems with a gun…

Is this a joke? I mean sure I’m better at licking pussy after watching a fair amount of lesbian porn - but practice makes perfect. If you think just watching MMA is going to teach you how to apply an armbar or avoid a heel hook etc. without actually hitting the mats you’re intelligence is in question IMO.

Is that, like, extra-curricular or something? An elective?

Nice post Prof…I don’t have a problem with guns either, I find them fascinating actually, but I won’t own one bc I don’t need one and I have children in the house, have plenty of other hobbies that I don’t have time for etc…IMO unfortunately, the majority fall into the category of hiding behind them which is insane.

I’ve been in enough close fights where I’m bangin the shit out of someone’s head against the ground hoping I don’t actually kill them, so it’s hard for me to even fathom shooting someone…I doubt I could live with that unless they harmed my family - not even me, just my family. If that ever were to happen though I seriously doubt that I will need a gun.
