Rampage is a beast.

If some motherfucker is strong enough to muscle himself out of submissions at will, then the only thing I’m going to need is endurance, because I’m fucking running.
There was a guy I trained with back in college that was like that. I put him in an armbar, and he stood up, picked me up with his trapped arm, and slammed me on the ground. That kind of sucked.
If you execute the guillotine correctly then he would be out in a few seconds. That’s assuming your very good at it, my cousin tried it on me once (I was curious to see it work) and I was out in a matter of seconds.
He said arm bar, not guillotine. I think it was Rampage I have seen do this a couple times. Also seen Uriah Faber do it.
Just thought i’d mention it anyway.
gotta watchout looking for these rampage slam videos. expecting some serious pwnage i stumbled across this - YouTube

I can’t believe I got Rick Rolled on T-Nation.

My instructor’s father did that to a guy once. Do you remember the guy’s name? I doubt it was the same person, unless you went to college a long time ago. It truly is scary when someone like that grabs a hold of you because you’re pretty much completely at their mercy.

Matt Hughes did it to Carlos Newton as well.

Doesn’t matter, tae kwon do is still the best martial art.
Ha ha!

That’s the one I was trying to remember, they were both out when they hit the canvas.
Bullshit win I thought, Hughes was out before Newton.

Yeah, should have been a “No Contest” (like Grey Maynard vs. Robert Emerson), but because it was a title fight I think they felt like they had to award one the belt, and since Hughes was currently champ and was the one who did the slamming they gave it to him.
It definitely was impressive to see Hughes pick Newton up and walk around the Octagon with him before slamming him though.

I’m pretty sure that was Newton’s first title defense after winning it from Pat.

Oops, you’re right. My mistake.
I just finished Sam Sheridan’s book, " A Fighter’s Heart". I’d take a slightly smaller, but not much smaller guy, over an untrained but very strong guy any day.
It’s a pretty good read.

I just read it and have been raving about it to everyone. He’s a terrific writer and the story was great. Proves my points better than I ever could, I’m sure.
Bodybuilders should read it. ;)
Exactly. I would never want to mess with a trained fighter. Even if he was 145 or so. I’m 5’7" and 200 -205. I can deadlift around 600 raw bench in the 300s when I’m not hurt in the shoulder which I am ( strained pec), and squat over 500 with a belt.
I have some self defense training in kubotan ( the little wrist breaker stick), guns, and some grappling. I can mess up an untrained guy quick, but anyone who knows what they’re doing will fuck me up.
I’m also a small town guy who is a chiropractor. It’s not good for business to get into bar fights. The guy I might level might have family and friends that might now hate me costing me $. This is why I get along with almost anyone I meet. you might want to give me $ sometime.
Another thing, I took lethal self defense training with a gun. I learned the hows and whys. A guy my size can hurt someone with his bare hands. Bad, so if I’m justified to defend myself, it’s probably against a lethal threat I couldn’t talk my way out or walk away from.
Then I’d shoot you. It’s easier, I’m good at it, and less likely for me to get hurt.

I think he did a great job on explaining fighting that a lay person could really grasp. I’ve never been much of a fighter for a few reasons. The small town thing didn’t allow me a lot of options to train. It was Karate which I had no interest in. Try finding aikido in a town of 5000 or so. Even boxing was not around in the late 70s to 80s here.
