Da Champ- I was thinking of hitting some “light” DL’s on monday and then not doing any until the meet. Maybe working up to 405 or something for a few singles? You think i should take the entire week off? That would mean I wouldnt have DLed in 12 days leading up to the meet (if my math is correct) thanks for the kind words. I really think I’m looking the way i’m looking now due to a few factors. 1- I’ve been eating MDD style 90% of the time and its great. 2- I’ve actually been training FOR something with a deadline in mind. Helping a lot IMO. (obvi the gym pump helps too lol)

Viking- Welcome to the log. you pulled a 36lb PR in your first meet? That is amazing!!! You’re the man. I would love to do something like that. My plan is to go kinda conservative on the 1st attempt. Push to what I consider my max on attempt number 2 and then go for broke on number 3.
LarryDavid- Thanks LD and welcome to my log. I usually update more and have more stuff to share but this week is crazy. Drop any tips if you got em. I’m always open for critiques/advice.

Bug- it kinda felt heavy but not bad. I was definitely happy with it. The pause really kicks my ass but I feel like I’m kinda getting the hang of it.
Matty- Dialing in my form has made things so much smoother. I wish I had a chance to go to one of his seminars like we were talking about but I’ll have to settle for the youtubes. Its funny cause I video my working sets and then watch them immediately afterwards to see how things looked and see what I need to change… I get lots of funny looks at the gym for that lol
Ink- Thanks bro brah. I feel like things are coming together but right now i DEFINITELY am looking forward to this deload week. My body is pretty sore all over and I need it. I like your plan for the meet week. I’ll go over my week outline in the main body of this post so let me know what you think. As always, thanks for the tips, critiques and kind words.
Ok so today will be my last “real” training day before the meet. I leave early tomorrow morning for my bachelor party. I’m going to hit squats today and just like I did on DL and Bench, I’m going to do my prescribed 531 numbers and but after the 1 rep I’m going to work up to a heavier single. My last set of squats today is 380. So depending on how that feels I might go for a single at 405 and then see whats up from there.
My plan is to hit the gym HARD today and then I’ll be off Friday-Sunday… Glycogen stores should be fully stocked come monday morning LOL. Monday I’ll get in the gym and warm up, get loose and limber and then work up to my openers for the meet. Tuesday I’ll probably do some cardio and then hit some light (nothing over 60-70%) upper body stuff to get the blood flowing. Wednesday I’ll hit some light legs (really light) just to keep things loose and then no more lifting after that.
The meet is on a Sunday so that will give me 3 light days and 3 off days leading right up to it which should be good I think? (if i’m off base here someone let me know)
Right now I’m thinking about my openers and I’m looking at something like this:
Squat:
Open with: 365. I know I can hit that any day of the week and twice on sundays (good thing cause the meet is a sunday) Baa Dum Pschh
Second attempt: 405? We’ll see how the squatting goes today and decide on that.
Third attempt: Depends on how that 405 goes obvi but maybe something close to 440?
Bench:
Open with: 295-300 maybe? I want to make sure and nail that first one. My original bench goal for the meet was hoping to hit 325 but yesterday that was not too hard so maybe I’ll go higher than that?
Second attempt: Close to that 325. Depends on how 300 feels (obvi)
Third Attempt: maybe 340? something like that
Deadlift:
Open with: 405. thats heavy enough to be an ok opener but there is no chance of a failure on that rep.
Second attempt: 445 I know I can hit this. Hoping the cumulative fatigue doesnt get me here though.
Third attempt: 475 maybe? That would be a 20lb PR if I hit it. Might be a bit lofty but who knows. Its gonna depend on how the previous reps go. If I’m nailing PR’s on my 3rd attempts and riding high with confidence maybe I’ll hit it?
Ok so thats my rough outline of a plan right now. If I hit the 3rd reps as prescribed above those would all be PR’s. I know I can hit 4,3,4 on my lifts its just a matter of how much extra I can get. a 1,200lb total is still my goal.
