Greg, I have had the same exact thing happen to me. I loaded up four 45s on a dip belt and tried to do donkey calf raises with it on my calf block at home. First i could barely walk with 4 plates on there. Not enough chain so they were like in my nutsack. That was funny but yeah… it broke the first set. So… no donkey calf raises for me in the garage gym.

I’m planning on going to law school after undergrad. Soooo, I got an internship a summer or 2 ago working as a ‘file clerk’ (aka bitch) at an insurance defense law firm. The things people sue, and WIN for, are insanely ridiculous, comical, and unjust. Some people are legit and can’t work/need help from a legal pro, but most just want an easy buck. I could go on for hours with stories about the most ridiculous claims in the world, but who wants to hear that?

EDIT: Chest measurement… Across the nipples relaxed was just barely under 46. Flexed/lat spread was a little over 48. Hard to keep the tape in place while trying to flex lol

310 x 7 (i didnt like these at all. I had some pretty bad knee cave with my right knee because my ankle was hurting and I was compensating. the weight didnt feel heavy and I was good for a few 10+ reps easy but I had 2 big knee cave ins and called it quits)

45 x 10 (the most INSANE lower back pump of my life. it was hurting so bad. I couldnt even walk upright after this lol)

Really good workout besides the knee cave issue. I got vids of all the squats which I’ll upload later. Didnt face the mirror this time… It was good but the rack sucked so I had to unrack the weight walk it forward, squat and then walk it BACKWARDS to rack it cause the gym doesnt have a power cage that faces away… that was a bummer. All in all a good workout. Weighed in at 214 still.

Crzy_eght- I figured that’s what you meant, no worries. When I am/was trying to put on size I do the same thing as when I’m trying to lean up a bit. I’ve always focused on big compound lifts and hit the gym at least 4 days a week. I first started out doing a basic 5x5 program back in the day. When I’m trying to lean up I’ll just throw in a little more conditioning work and I’ll tighten up the diet a bit. Staples of my routine from day 1 have been a bench variation, a squat variation, dips/weighted dips and pull ups/weighted pull ups. No matter what I’m always using those. I didn’t start getting into DL’s until pretty recently. If you want any other info just let me know.

Ink- check the vid and let me know what’s up. Ok I’ll re read that rules booklet and see what they say about undies. I haven’t owned a pair of tighty whiteys in years so I’d have to buy some lol. <3

Spidey- thanks man. Im working on making sure my squats are deep enough. When I take that wide stance it’s hard to tell when I’m deep… Maybe I’ll try a straight on view next time? I don’t really have set weights that I’m going for really… Just cause I have no idea. But I’m hoping for a total thats over 1,100. TBH I’d be pumped if I could get a 1,200 but i dont think that’ll happen lol

MiM- thanks doll! Yeah the backwards racking thing really sucked. It wasn’t that bad since my top set was only 310 but when those top sets get heavier and are closer to 4 it’ll be a pain! I’ll try the hat thing next time since I wear a hat to the gym anyway. I’ll just pull it down real low. Good idea :slight_smile:

Dude, I honestly don’t see how you could’t get 1,200 looking at your log. Considering you just started DL’ing, just getting use to the movement will get ya to a 500 pull quick, you definatly have the 400 squat in you, and a 300 bench is in the bag. Looking at those numbers now, I think you honestly could get 1,300. lol, But then again, I know nothing about organized PL. lol.

This question is coming from someone who’s never done a PL comp, and obviously isn’t meant to sound like I’m talking shit 'cause Greg’s my T-Nation buddy, but why run 5/3/1? Wouldn’t it make more sense to run something that has you handling heavier weights since that’s what you’re gonna be doing? Seems to me that you’d want to practice like you play. Either way 12-hundo’s in the bag, just curious.
