I’m going to try to get in some extra morning oly technique workouts. Mostly just bar work for now.[/quote]
I hear ya. I’ve nearly broken my nose on a jerk, bruised my chin from a jerk… and there’s been about 3 times where I’ve hit my head/upper back with a barbell when I screwed up the snatch.
PB Andy - Thanks. Yea I’ve clocked myself a few times. Oly lifting can be sketchy stuff but it’s always the light weight that gets me. I think because heavy reps have my full attention I make less mistakes.
NC - Thanks. The video should be visible now. The bone is in there more than it used to be but the brace isn’t very effective and I’m going to go see a specialist so for now I’m just going to do what I do until someone tells me otherwise.
Nikki - Thanks. It’s a small chip, no one can tell unless I point it out and I’m about to have a bunch of dental work done so I’ll just get it bonded when I go in. It’s whatever, it’s not like I’m doing any photo shoots any time soon.lol

…actually now that I think about it you are right, at least in my case. All of my ‘injuries’ have been w/ submaximal weights. Hell I think I almost broke my nose on that jerk with 135 on the bar.
Curious what method you used to test your BF%. That’s the same number I was told but everyone said it was incorrect and too high. I don’t think so. I think most women way underestimate their BF.

haha are you trying to tell me you think I’m fatter than 20%? You can just come out and say it
Not at all. I think you are extremely fit. I’ve seen your vids. Body fat readings confuse me. I’ve been told my BF is anywhere from 11% (calipers) to 21.5% (electronic impedance). That’s a big variance. I tend to think it’s closer to the top value. Just wondering what method you’re using and how much stock you put in its accuracy.
I’ll put that there because people are lazy and won’t want to click back a page.
Ok now here’s my current, honest opinion about body fat as a trainer and just a regular joe (jane?).
Science has not yet come to a point where we can exactly measure body fat. I just got in a thing with someone on a different board who was preaching the good word of DEXA as the be all end all of body fat measurement. (DEXA was originally designed to measure bone density and then the company realized that they would make far more money selling it to health labs as a body fat scanner). This has really confused a lot of people who aren’t experienced with body fat calculation (most people) as it gives results 3-5% points higher than traditional methods.
If you want to track your own body fat to know if you are getting leaner or fatter simply pick a method and stick with it. For my clients we keep track of waist measurement with over all look (photos) and put less of an emphasis on body fat percentage. If you want to compare to others just compare pictures, it’s all judged by looks on stage anyway. The actual “bf%” numbers mean very little and two people with the same bf% can look worlds apart.
I’ve been using this website to track my “body fat” for 6 or 7 years. Body Fat Calculator
I always use the tape measure method and I always measure the same way in the same places so I get very consistent readings. I just so happen to be lucky enough to have a body type that works well with the tape measure method. I know this because my caliper/bod pod results have always been very close to the results I get on that site.
The leanest I’ve ever been was 11% and now I’m the fattest I’ve ever been at 20%.
