oh, and obviously this isn’t going to happen tomorrow…haha! give me…um…a few weeks…
Don’t hurt yourself! With a flat bench at 105x3 I’d be happy seeing 50s go up, do you do DB bench regularly or is this going to be a new experiment?
That sounds about right w/ the 50s. But yes, i still do bench regularly just DBs though. Last I benched I did 6x45. 45 has always been my sticking point.

We’ll see - gives me something to work towards, especially since I vehemently dislike BB benching and avoid it like the plague.

I feel ya, 45s were my sticking point for a long time too. 50s just psyched me out. I’m glad you have a new goal, but why do you hate bb benching?

and very nive PR.

most I’ve db benched are 50’s. therefor Kimba’s weight. I would need to bench 80’s to be close to my weight. I do not see that in my near future.
Yea 80s would be pretty tough. What’s your barbell bench?
barbell bench max is 150 but really not sure about throwing the 75lbs around. lifts just don’t feel the same.

edit: that was a very easy PR. obviously there is space to move up soon.
Yea it depends on the person, I’ve been asking around to get the difference between db and bb bench for people and it tends to be 15-25lbs - unless they’re powerlifters, then there’s a much larger gap because they concentrate so much on bb bench technique for competition.

So if you were following that you would be able to get between 125 and 135 combined with the dbs, or somewhere between the 60s and the 70s. You think you could put up the 60s?

Very happy tonight after having a great bench day. Crushed some PRs on board presses and set a new pullup PR as I try to catch up with N8tive! http://bobbiskai.blogspot.com/2010/12/westside-powerlifting-log-me-bench-pr.html

Hooray!!! on the pullups PR!!

Aren’t db’s a bit harder/different because of the recruitment of different muscle stabilizers and all that scienc-y stuff? Not to mention using db’s also forces your weaker side to catch up.

If I can get 50sx8 that would make my 1rm bench, what? Any guesses?

I hardly ever bench because it’s not a focus of mine and it makes my shoulder a little angry. I like dbs, cause I get a better ROM. maybe I’m weird.

I think the last time I seriously tried I got 125 for a couple. I got 135 with a spot eons ago.

MiM, you’re not weird. I also quite like DB benching too! And much more than BB benching, that’s for sure.

Honestly, I don’t like BB benching because I just don’t think of it as a lift that’s functional for my athletic goals. So I’ve always approached with a very “meh” attitude and did it only b/c it was part of the big three.

Great pullups! Looks like N8tive has an entire pack of PW on her ass. HAHAHA!

Anytime you make limbs work unilaterally it’s going to be more difficult, that’s why I was asking around to get an average difference between the 2 dbs together and a bb bench. If you can get 50s for 8 then that would be 100 together +15-25lbs so 115-125 for 8 on bb bench. Does that sound about right?

Thanks girlie, last time you said you were clocking more pullups than me - why don’t you ever do them weighted and join the race?

Congrats on the pullup pr. +40lbs is kickass. Looking forward to seeing you pull up a plate! It’ll be soon no doubt.

Hopefully so, but it’ll be a while off before I get it for 3 like you! Have you ever maxed pullups?

Video of 135 board press is up! Still not sure why I missed the second rep… http://bobbiskai.blogspot.com/2010/12/video-3-board-press-135-pr.html

No I’ve never maxed on weighted pullups. I follow a pretty slow weighted progression. I have to hit 5x5 at a weight before I add 5lbs. I’ve recently missed my last weighted progression, which was supposed to be 3 sets of 4 with 30lbs. I’ve put on some weight lately, which seems to be helping my other lifts, but the pullups have taken a big hit. I’m ok with that for now. I’ll live vicariously through you and your progress.

Random entertainment. This is a parrot singing “Let the bodies hit the floor”, it’s pretty awesome. http://bobbiskai.blogspot.com/2010/12/amazing-parrot-sings-bodies-by-drowning.html

And far less entertaining is my first lift in briefs. Pulled a 40lb PR. haha http://bobbiskai.blogspot.com/2010/12/westside-powerlifting-log-de-lower-week.html

260 is insane! Can’t wait to see the vid!

WOW

Very nice board presses. It must be so wonderful to have all that support to help you train hard and heavy!

They help work different parts of the bench. My triceps are a weak link so the board presses are helping with that. Also, on a non-scientific note. Board presses get heavy weights in my hands more often so I’m comfortable with them - a positive mental side effect.

And yes. Yes it is.
