BM New Log

BM,
I thought this may be important for you to see one of my chest workouts so that you have an idea of what i do.
wednesday chest workout:
incline barbell bench:
135 x 20
185 x 10
225 x 10
275 x 10
315 x 8 …enough!

decline barbell bench:
135 x 15
225 x 10
315 x 10
365 x 10
405 x 5 (no one touching the bar on any of my reps)

i sometimes mix up incline and decline and give flat the week off since flat and decline are so similar.

shitty night was taking a weight in my canvas and the damn bar broke on me rolled down my back hurt my lower back and forced me to a damn side bend with near 600 pounds…my back hasnt hurt in years fucking sucks…i have no idea what happed to the bar all i know is that something popped loose near the end and the damn thing started spinning really fast in my hands and rolling really fast down my left side about ripped my shoulders off …fucking sucks…bm

day after report…my left shoulder is severly fucked my bicep tendon is severly inflamed cant lift my left arm…my right oblique under my lat seems to be pulled my low back severly stiff and my left hip flexor does not fell good…i will probally take monday and wensday of this week off and just recover, i think it will take near 2 art sessions on my bicep before i can squat again i need ot be rady by next friday becuase its are circa max phase fo r the squat…thats why i will probally recover early this week …bm

Sorry to hear about yer accident. Hope everthing works out in time for you.

When I test my lifts tomorrow how should I do my rest periods? I mean how are they done in a meet between lifts, and as far as rest while working up I guess I should just stick to 2-3min between attempts once the weight gets heavy, like I do on a ME day?

Damn man, that sucks. Luckly I stopped when I did because I only have a little bit of tightness in my mid-back. Not really too much more than normal though. Heal up soon.

went to the doctor today and my ART specialist who has worked with poliquin, glen power b, and many of the colts…I have 2 minor tears in both my bicep and tricep tendons these will take around 2 weeks to heal and are ultra painfull…and i also have a bad tear inside some muscle in my clavicle under my collar bone…they thought the pull under my clavicle might have been more serious and need surgery but it didnt thank God…they said to give 2 weeks of rest then i can began squating with a safety squat bar,…so bascially i took the lat 14 weeks and pissed them away lol… I want to do my meet so bad but both doctors told me it would be stupid…preety depressed right now…not sure of future plans…probally going to try to do a met in late summer and then head to IPA nats in November…right now i am going to enjoy the time off and heal up…log close bm

That sucks to hear. You’ll be back blasting new PRs real soon.

Very, very sorry to hear about your injuries BM. Even more sad to hear you have to miss your meet.

However, as a youngin’ who just began a WS routine, I would like to thank you for posting your log for the last 14 weeks.

It’s helped me, and as you probably can tell a whole bunch of others in our own quests for strength.

Injury or no injury, meet or no meet, you’ve been a great teacher, and someone we could all aspire to.

Get well soon,
Del.

BM,

Taking time off due to injury is a tough thing to do. Mentally, we don’t want to take the time off. Physically, it is probably the best thing. I’m sure that your injuries are hindering your performance in the gym currently since your body is not able to give 100% to your lifts. Take the time off and heal up. Your body will compensate for the trauma done by making itself stronger. My guess is after the layoff, once you get back into it, you’ll be stronger in all your lifts since your body has had a chance to strengthen itself where needed.

Get well soon man, look on the bright side at least it is only one meet you are missing, you still have many meets in you, rest up, get well and get back into some meets and get an elite. I will second TheDeliverator this log has been a help to many people, myself included, and you were always curtious to answer all my ?s and PMs even though they may have been redundent.

thanks guys…the truth is i loved to keep the log and as much as it helped you guys it helped me more…i think every powerlifter should keep a log i learned so much from it…so many little things i never would have thought of…the thing that sucks is every thing was really clicking and 1 little stupid accident fucked it up definately been a tuff year lol…bm

BigMartin,

Haven’t heard from you in a while. Hopefully you’re still checking in with us here at T-Nation. How’s your recovery going? Are you training yet? Keep us posted cause I’m sure I’m not the only one interested.

Saw you posting again. How have things been?
