OP, you’re the guy who posted up a while back about wanting to be a military officer right? I think I remember our conversation and you had decided to go to West Point.
Take a look at the quote above. This guy was selling plasma to buy weed. Does that sound like the type of people a potential Officer should associate themselves or their actions with? How much honor is there in doing something that you acquaint with people like that?
It’s your life so you should do what you think is right but sometimes you need to take a look at the bigger picture before you make a decision.

He’s not implying you are going to buy weed. He is just giving you an example of the type of people that do sell their blood plasma.
Also, what does a 17 year old need all the money for anyways? Isn’t it a law that someone under the age can’t work full time anyways? Or at least I thought that was the way it use to be. Maybe that is if you are in high school.

FTR, this “person like that” went on to complete an MBA at a top tier university, started a company, employs five people and growing and has a seven figure net worth and growing at 29. And I still smoke weed.
And I wouldn’t change anything. Back in the day, minimum wage was just over five dollars. Most part time jobs paid minimum or slightly over. Average shifts between or after classes were like 4 hours. Account for taxes and it would take 12-16 hours to earn two hours of plasma donation.
Smart people act efficiently. And fuck a “chain of command” set of standards when you can just implement your own values in your life.
Jesus Christ, I can’t believe some of the attitudes in here.
If the OP goes and gets a job flipping burgers is he a whore? Because what he’s selling is his labor. We call it employment. So, making $35 selling his blood is awful, but working a McJob for the same money is somehow noble?
And for those of you who feel that it’s wrong that he sell something that he could otherwise donate…The doctors who use his blood are going to get paid, the hospital is going to get paid, the medical equipment manufacturers are going to get paid, the nurses, the anethesiologists, even the orderlies who clean up the shit and blood-stained sheets are going to get paid, but the OP is a selfish bastard for selling his blood rather than donate it.
This thread is now making me consider finding a place to sell some blood, I be a broke professional student and could use the cash every so often. I don’t understand people’s aversion to selling blood. They need the blood, you need the money, it makes sense to do it.

yeah! a lotta holier than thou attitudes in here.
when I worked construction and it rained the whole crew including foremen went to sell plasma. I know people that work 2 jobs that go twice a week for gas money. it’s obvious that you don’t wanna associate with working class people. anybody that sells plasma is a crackhead. since black people sell plasma most blacks are crackheads. any woman that sells plasma must be a hooker and not some mother trying to get a few extra dollars for food or clothes.
you guys say someone that sells plasma is a whore. what the fuck is someone that kisses the boss’s ass? you suck up to customers to make a sale.
it’s easy to talk shit if you’be never seen hard times. seems that most of you pussies have no clue what the real world is about.

I was offering some professional advice to someone who has aspirations of becoming a military officer from someone who has held that privileged title. There’s no need to be rude or to get defensive about what I said.
I’m going to make this post then I’m going to butt out of this thread.
As an officer you need to think longer term and bigger picture than “I need some money, what’s an easy way to do that?”. It’s about taking the moral high ground at all times and about thinking about your associations. Your going to be expecting this from your men so those habits need to be formed now by you.
Take a look at the posts of the guys who are all saying “go ahead” and see if you agree with their morality on other issues. Think about if you want to be associated with behavior they condone or not.

Also decide if you want to be Officer Dipstick and conform to expectations or be your own man, what ever that means. Hell, you can’t even have facial hair if you want it in the military and you’ll probably have to keep selling plasma.
That’s not what I said. My comments were very much contextual and relate only to the OP and not to the public in general.
There were several posts in here in which people made the comment about how they typically waited alongside hookers and drug addicts. My comments were directed solely to the OP based on his aspirations to be a military officer and were less about the act of selling blood and more about the associations with that.
I don’t have a personal opinion about selling your blood. But I do know that I wouldn’t want to be associated with hookers or drug addicts or with acts that are. For most people it really doesn’t matter because there’s really no guilt by association. But in this particular case there very well might be.

I was in the military and saw a lot of officers that sucked more dick than a trainload of hookers. a lot of officers were on the take stealing and selling stuff that was needed in the field. at least hookers are honest about what they do and not pretending to be morally superior.

Ok, so he can be judged by who he stands next to in line when he’s selling plasma?
If the OP is short on cash even though he has a job, I dont see the damn problem with this. He has a product that a consumer wants. If they are willing to pay for it, then so be it. Comparing the decision to what a lowlife would consider is vague. If thats the case, you shouldnt get on welfare because lazy ass parasites get on welfare.

For the record when I was divorced going to college I sold plasma to buy supplements. When you think about it that makes no fucking sense.
Just eat a lot of regular food you will be better off. [/quote]
It’s all about the peer pressure…
I don’t necessarily think that selling plasma or blood is a bad idea and we all make our own choices. This was a really specific situation and my comment was based on a much earlier post made by the OP.
It was funny that you were selling plasma to buy supplements though. I mean at what point do you say, hmmm?

Believe it or not me and my roommate at the time wrote in (this was before TNation) to MM2K asking their opinion on the matter. Yea it was a face palm moment for sure.
