A. Hispanic isn’t a race. Latino isn’t a race.
B. Hispanics are as capable of racism and stereotyping as any other group. Anyone recall how the Spanish national soccer team coach got into some trouble a few years ago for telling his players to race bait opposing black players? It even happens within Latin American nations (i.e., racism from one Hispanic towards another) with lighter skin being viewed as superior to darker skin.

Also…lol at the idea that the average person does anything than make an immediate judge of what someone is abased on how they look right then. No one is waiting for “confirmation”…unless you are Zimmerman of course. It seems the world throws out the “self id” card because even though his father is white, suddenly everyone is doing their best to distance themselves from him as much as possible.
HE’S HISPANIC!! No, he isn’t. He’s half white an could pass for white. What he really is wouldn’t matter to 99% of the public on sight…and you all know this.
No, we get it.
We all see an otherwise reasonable guy go through convoluted mental gymnastics, ignore the law and controverting facts to prosecute-in-the-court-of-public-opinion a guy who may or may not be guilty, in order to “right” perceived discrimination by various other white people.
Be like me punching modern-day Germans in the face for WWII, except 80 years more distant.
Rise above it, or it will eat you up.
? I stated the facts that we do know in many posts and asked questions. You didn’t quote even one of those posts in entirety. Why?
How have I “controverted facts”? I wrote what we know…and what we know is Zimmerman did NOT come across as a rational person…unless it is rational to you to call the police that much for what amounts to basic nonsense.
You ignore this and only focus on a fight NO ONE SAW. That means what we do have to go by is his state of mind and the state of mind of the kid. The kid’s girl could give us a look into the mind of the kid.
WE HAVE ZIMMERMAN’S STATE OF MIND ON TAPE. he was a nutcase out to find any basic injustice he perceived whether it was true or not.
For anyone to ignore this and assume “instant rationality” during a fight is retarded.
Zimmerman comes across as border line retarded.

Limited mental capacity would actually make his self-defense claim stronger, as he could not be expected to make clear-headed decisions.

But…they aren’t black…like we heard from many Republicans before the last election. We were constantly told that he wasn’t fully black.
It seems very selective how that gets used.

His father is white, mother Peruvian. They speak Spanish in the home. Grandmother lives/lived with them and spoke no English whatsoever. I knew this family for 18 years and saw the father twice. Good point, ethnicity (and race), involve self-identified but also how one is identified by others (the history of European names.and groupings for non-Europeans should be considered). I believe you posted earlier your ethnic make-up. From what I read we could very much be related (do not worry, at best it would only be halfway). But what people (probably) identify us as being cares little for that possibility.

I said “borderline”. He seemed functional enough to carry a GUN. I mean, if the laws are that lax where guns get handed out to the mentally handicapped, that really IS an issue we need to look into!

It’s becoming clearer by the day that this is exactly the kind of kid who would take offense at being confronted by Zimmerman and then jump him on his way back to the truck.

People see “black man”. They don’t give a shit what color my grandmother was or what country she came from. No one asks who I “self identify” as…but apparently everyone is bringing that shit up now.
It is nothing but some strange effort to distance away from any racially charged issues…when those issues are still very visible.
If most people see a “white guy” when you walk outside, it doesn’t matter what you “self id” as when it comes to how you are perceived.

This is why I didn’t even bother responding to that shit. I stated earlier that him being a drug dealer was unfounded. A picture of him, was apparently taken from his facebook, sticking two fingers up (too blurry to identify him). But when you get on his facebook, you can’t even see any of the dodgy shit people are saying Trayvon was up to.

Furious,
Your going to have to fix the quotes. I read your last portion. There is no dishonor in self defense what so ever. You can play tough guy all day, it isn’t impressive. A 130 lb. woman facing a rape wouldn’t share your bullshit bravado.
I’m a fairly large guy, compared to average joes on the street I’m a “big dude”, especially when you consider lean tissue.
I was a state level wrestler, enjoy bjj as a hobby and have started dicking around with kickboxing. I can crack heads. I’m also licensed to carry. If I’m “strapped” and some jerk off attacks or threatens to attack me, I’m not going to dick around and play honor ninja and bash his head in, I’m going to take his head clean off and your “honor” can kiss my barrel.
If, on the other hand, I’m in a situation mutually escalated to violence, a fight is a fight. I don’t support baiting.violence to murder, I stated the possibility exists and it does. Only certain people are eligible for a license and while not fool proof, the vetting process weeds out hot headed retards who just want to run around with a “license to kill”. It hasn’t been an issue considering facts in run of the mill or highly publicized cases.
Your “furious fist” honor barking doesn’t mean much. Frankly it is retarded. When faced with serious threat, the most efficient route to safety just makes the most sense.
the most efficient route to safety would be to run away.
if you are attacked by more than one person
say one of them is ‘strapped’ (illegally for example)and the main aggressor is not using a weapon, therefore you are unaware of the danger.
you pulling out a firearm and shooting at him will escalate the situation and may end with you getting your own head blown clean off by one of his buddies.
nice logic, cowboy.
if you read the rest of my post, i said it would make more sense if the license were only available to vunerable citizens. if you are a large guy fully confident and capable to physically defend yourself as you describe, why do you even feel the need to carry a gun?
and i know honor doesnt mean much to people like you in america. hence the current state of affairs over there.

I’ve been to Cuba and in Dominican Republic. You’d meet some ‘‘white hispanics’’ who don’t even consider the ‘‘black’’ ones as latinos.
I don’t know why but, I am starting to be a little shocked at the “discussion” here. I hope we can all get along while discussing points, opinions and facts.

I did not bitch, I asked. When people have mixed ethnicity there seems to be a social tendency to refer to the “darkest” ethnicity. I called question to that habit. I also posted if that is how he self-identified, I understand. But X’s point still remains valid.
Someone else noted in ‘Latin American’ countries race/ethnicity is far more nuanced than everyone is Hispanic. The tendency to use generalizing broad strokes for ‘white’, ‘black’, ‘Hispanic’, ‘Asian’, ‘Native American’, or even ‘Jewish’ should be challenged.

So I want to be clear that I’m following your line of thought through this process clearly:
Trayvon, because he is black, was correct in his thought process that ‘strange white man’ following him may have been out to hurt him?
If the description in place of ‘white’ in that above thought is changed, does it in any way change this case for you? If it doesn’t, why are we discussing it? If it does, why?

Agreed. It seems to only be an issue when it is convenient. Tiger Woods is only half black…until he gets caught cheating, now he’s AFRICAN.
President Obama is only half black…but our economy sucks…HE’S BLACK!!
Zimmerman’s father is white…but he killed a black kid. Hurry, everyone throw up the pinata and throw a sombrero on the ground!!!
I am also well aware of the black community doing this as well, but I also understand under-representation and the need in the black community to see others succeeding who look like they do.
Either way, the TRUTH is Zimmerman is mixed and half white. The TRUTH is also that very few, unless hearing him claim it, would look at him and think “MEXICO” by looking at him.
