Black Sabbath the Best or Worst Band

THIS X1000

It’s easy to take for granted things which always existed, which i do because sabbath/hendrix/beatles/zepplin have always been around. I’ve grown up since birth listening to that music. Lemmy had a profound quote that he “remembers before there was rock and roll” and sabbath was a band that helped change the game.

I personally dont listen to Sabbath’s music much, im more into zepplin/allman bros. rock/blues vs. sabbath/metal genre but there is no denying the importance of their music. The ford model T is a piece of shit by todays standards of what a vehicle should be, but those standards would be different had there been no model T. Same with rock/metal and sabbath.
Interesting points.

Jimi Hendrix fucking sucks. I downloaded all his albums and they are all slow dull bags of shit. Fuck Jimi Hendrix. How on earth is that guy remotely good? All along the watch tower is his only mildly decent song, which he took from bob dylan and made worse. His guitar playing is so Liberace it becomes beige and his heroin induced slow talking crap makes me want to be sick.

Worst artist ever!

What do people like about him?
People whose opinions are more learned and valuable than yours will ever be believe he was great. It’s funny how people try hard to appear different by being contrary but fail to recognize that the odds are the musicians they do like call Hendrix great. You claim to be in love with Sabbath now but guess what? Hendrix was a huge influence on Iommi.
believe it or not, one of the biggest influences on Iommi was, due to his finger injuries, Django Reinhardt.

looong time follower, think it’s my first post and it took black sabbath to do it.
personal enjoyment: 10/10

most if not all heavy metal bands that are within the radar for serious metal fans attribute black sabbath as influencial and a model for their music. there has to be something said for that…

sabotage is one of the best albums period, not just heavy metal…

LOL, best comment on youtube.

This was before T.R. became a total tambourine-playing beatnik. :(

lol, that’s not TR singing, it’s Jourgensen.

Reznor sang the original lyrics, but TVT wouldn’t release his vocals for the song, so Al re-sang them in the same style as Trent. All the WaxTrax versions and the Nativity in Black version is Al.

TVT released Trents lyics after purchasing WaxTrax on a WaxTrax retrospective called Black Box.

The version Trent sings on is called "Trent Reznor Vocal Version). Not very original, I know.

<-------------- geeks out on WaxTrax

Saw them a couple months ago, great show and goddamn heavy. Geezer and Iommi were rock solid.

Ozzy also a lot less sloppy than in recent years and has unbelievable energy for a guy closing in on 70. You got the feeling he realises this could be his one last hurrah.

If you’re a fan I HIGHLY recommend you catch this tour.

How in the lysergic acid diethylamide does a guy like Ozzy live to the age of 70?
A deal with the Metal gods.

I know that and I wonder how many Sabbath fans would sit and listen to Django and think it was great. If someone wants to say they don’t like something that’s fine and they are entitled to their opinion but when they state that something sucks, as though they have some great insight or knowledge about the subject, they are being childish.

I think Hendrix is more of an acquired taste for people not deep into the genre. His Blues album seems more accessible though.

I think some other , old drunks have touched on this…but …really?

Get past the Classic Rock radio stuff and listen to them again…I HATED the Beatles for years, but 2 months ago I started listening to their stuff AND in context…it’s phenomenal…like discovering Bach or Beethoven after only hearing Air on G String (not what you think) or Moonlight Sonata over and over again…check out Beatles on BBC…
I hear ya, no way you can listen to an album like Revolver or Sgt Peppers and not be in awe of such amazing songwriting.

She’s Leaving Home, Eleanor Rigby, For no one…shit i could go on and on…I like to say I am the walrus was the first metal song I ever listened to.

About Sabbath…they’re like the fucking Colombus of metal, sure maybe not really the first to get there but certainly the most influential.

Fairy liquid bottle tops.

Hendrix deserves every ounce of recognition he has. Except that Purple Haze and Fire are awful songs. But Red House, Voodoo Child/Chile, Room Full of Mirrors, Catfish blues, etc…all incredible.

edit: Izabella, Wait until tomorrow, Little wing, bold as love … classics.

Columbus huh? So… despicable pieces of shit?

Personally, I love Sabbath. I haven’t really listened to them often in recent years, but as a teen they were great. I still put a few of the songs on my playlists occasionally for lifting.

HEY…it’s a thankless job not flashy or appreciated but, one I take seriously.

I would have responded earlier but, I had to look up ubiquitous and insidious.
