Birds Diet Relapse

Haha I just caught the daily food breakdown (must have been some screwy updating earlier).

Honey, chocolate, jelly, and protein bars on a diet? Clean it up.

Also, you’re probably light on protein and misplacing carbs. I’m seeing 150g of protein (being generous here). Have your fruit with breakfast instead of before bed, and relocate some of the other breakfast carbs to the postworkout meal.

But seriously, there is no good reason to be eating the sugary bullshit I mentioned above. Dark chocolate is “ok” but not ideal if you’re trying to actually diet down.

In college for a while i was basically starving myself for a year. But once in a while i would get around junk food and i literally could not stop and i would destroy 1gal of ice cream or 3 dozen cookies and a pizza. Will power can only take you so far. But i would go 1month or so in between binges like that. 2 a week every week is ridiculous. I am doing RFL and this is the 7th day and i have not eaten more than 1100 cals in a day so far. Most days more like 800. I have lifted for 45min-1hr every day plus some low intensity walking/cardio for 30-40min everyday. No cheating or binging. Your mind can do some crazy things. You have a weak mind if you cant even make it through a week without cheating even with extremely low cals.
Holy shit, kid. 800 cals a day? Any noticable muscle loss, yet?
Nope. Actually measurements in the arms shoulders and chest have barely changed. Just enough that was a bit of glycogen.

I think bird is on mod-approved posting because he tends to send us paying customers into a state of homicidal rage.

That said, there’s no way he should be having any problem sticking to that ‘diet’.

That’s the diet equivalent of a trip to fucking Disneyland.

Seriously, fuck you Bird. You’re a fucking ponce.

Honestly, there is one thing you can do to prevent this: CLEAN YOUR PANTRY. Get rid of all that garbage. If you have just apples, brown rice, chicken, eggs, nuts, etc. in your cupboards you remove that danger of binging on oreos and yoohoo. You can’t eat that which is not within reach.

Willpower is a bitch. Remove the temptation, problem solved.

yeah, i’ve learned that the easiest / best / most effective way to prevent my eating crap is to not have crap in the house. i’m very fortunate that my flatmate is into paleo eating so even if i did get myself into a state of wanting to destroy myself with food damage would be pretty limited…

at the moment i am having fairly uncontrollable urges to eat lots of food, though. i’m starting to think… it is due to my increasing cardio (introducing intervals). guess that shit just burns up a lot more calories than i’d thought. flatemate made an almond and lemon cake yesterday and we demolished it for dessert. think i needed the extra calories. first time in a week i haven’t woken up starving at 3am…

stuff to binge on… meat. i’m starting to think meat is the answer to most things.

is it possible to eat too much meat?? i wonder… meat. and a few pretty green things…

rotisserie chickens got me through the russian squat routine lolz…

Meat is pretty self-regulating.

Even at my bingiest my body seems to set a cap at a certain amount of protein.

More expensive, less PIIHB, cleaner. Service is just as good and it’s just as awesome though.

Use the junk food to your advantage. Schedule it within your calorie allowance and save it for post workout-pre bed as Kiefer recommends in his carb-backloading plan. Morning fast, weight train around 5 PM, then proceed to indulge in post workout protein / carb binge. “low fat” carbs are great just before bed according to him.

Before everyone keeps piling on TheBird, let’s bear in mind that this is a person old enough to write a coherent post on the internet who ends all of his posts with “tweet.” Only so much is going to get through to the guy.

Seriously, every time I see him post, I imagine if I had a weird internet-persona habit like that and had to explain it to my friends/significant other/etc (“well, you know…I go by Bird…so I post tweet…at the end of every post…”). Bird, you are a weird guy.

Im not weird, Im eccentric. Just like Einstein, Maradonna, Cantona and the Dalai Lama.

Anyway friends, thanks for all of your advice. I will clean out my pantry and get rid of the oreos and twisties. I only had these things in my pantry as I like to stock up on such thing at Xmas times for friends that visit etc.

I should also note Im really upping my cardio as I get ready for the soccer preseason. I dont think my diet is bad as some posters have said, remembering Im a semi pro soccer player, and not a bodybuilder. As Alexus said, I think its a bit hard for those that do lots of cardio to get all of their calories in cleanly. Theres only so much meat a bird can eat!

‘Eccentric’ is a euphemism for ‘weird’ lol.

Suit yourself on the diet. I think the whole “I can’t get all of my calories in cleanly” concept is BS and more rationalization than anything else. If you’re missing calories, they should be filled in by EVOO/EVCO/natural nut butters which are ridiculously dense in calories but still clean. I’m not a fan of the “a calorie is a calorie” mindset anyway (I really only care about macros), so whatever. Do your thing, hopefully it will work for you.

Whenever I go into full on pantry assault mode it’s usually a result of cutting too hard. The last cut I did I went real smooth because it was a very moderate deficit.

i think chickens are pretty good.

dan john had a food article where he listed a bunch of food… and said you could eat whatever you damn pleased after you ate all you were supposed to. pretty sure a bag of apples was one of the foods on the list. guess the idea is that whatever you were craving to binge you would have forgotten all about it by the time you finished your bag of apples lolz.

more seriously though, i still think chickens are pretty good. i got to the point of eating a whole chicken after squats near the end of the volume part of the RSR… sweet things… do you bake?? almond flour / meal is pretty good. high in calories, yeah, but no gluten and almonds are pretty good. google ‘gluten free whole orange cake’. make it with tangelos and don’t worry about boiling the darned things. or get some decent quality cocoa powder (100% chocolate) and make 1 minute microwave cakes or something.

maybe your body wants the calories that it could get from chicken skin / fat, butter, almonds, cocoa solids etc… you just need to train it out of the twisties and oreos processed crap. seriously learn to bake. some of that shit is delicious.

Birdy, if your still as lean you use to be in your old Rate My Physique thread, and in the midst of soccer practice/season, I doubt a binge (especially one so small in all reality) will impede progress. Just obey the 80/20 rule, and you’ll be fine, bro.

Oh man if he’s super-lean and whining about cheating on a diet ima kill him hahah.

Bird if you’re actually lean already then something like an 80/20 breakdown of healthy food/fun food is more than acceptable. But if youz a fatty, clean it up.
