You said only 300,000 people in California pay taxes. Even according to this link that you’ve provided, you were absolutely full of shit. You may want to live in a world where you can say whatever you want without anybody taking the time to check to see if it was pulled out of somebody’s ass somewhere along the line, but you don’t. End of story. Better luck next time.

Hahaha.

According to you, “the 33.33% superminority pays roughly 94% of all California Personal Income Taxes (PIT).”

33 percent of 38 million is…wait…12 million.

That’s 94 percent of all PIT spread out over 12 million people. Which means…yep…that’s way more than 300,000…

So, again, your original claim–absolute bullshit, by your own numbers.

And here’s one final gem from the link you provided:

“The 1% paid 42% of all California Personal Income Tax in 2008–the latest data available.”

1 percent of 38 million is…380,000. Which is more than the 300,000 number your tax guy made up. Let me reiterate: there are more California taxpayers in the top one percent than what you claimed to be the total number of Californians paying tax, and that only accounts for less than half of all PIT paid.

So, again, that number was bullshit.

Um, I don’t have to live in California to be able to read numbers. Or are you above proving the nonsense you spout by virtue of the fact that you live in California?

So, again, what you wrote is bullshit. Or am I wrong? If so I look forward to you proving it to me.

And again, if your tax guy can fuck something as simple as that up, then his general abilities as a human being are dubious at best.
LOL seriously dude. How does anybody take this Maximus dolt seriously? You;ve gotta live in that state to be able to interpret statistics on it now? Does that mean he has to shut the fuck up about Washington DC? That would be great.

I hope this isn’t a new rule we’re thinking about adopting on PWI because I don’t have much to say about northern Westchester.

Edit: but yeah, that really was the weakest attempt at defense of a position I’ve seen in a long while.
Karado wrote:
“I agree Bloomberg’s approach was stupid I how ever see what he is trying to accomplish” .

This has just GOT to be the line of the week.

What exactly was he “trying to accomplish”?..getting people healthier?
How is one gonna legislate health by getting them to drink less sugary drinks?
What if the law passed, a guy buys a smaller drink, but then grabs an 9 inch diameter
Danish Pastry, a pack of smokes and some macaroni and cheese for later?
You’re kidding us on what he was “trying to accomplish”, yes?
If we’re missing something pittbull, what EXACTLY was he “trying to accomplish”>
LOL your whole post is disparaging “the approach” (which OP admitted was stupid) instead of “what he is trying to accomplish”. You actually touched on it in your opening “getting people healthier” before your inane ramblings that completely aligned with OP’s statement. Sooo…you guys are on the same side?

Welllll…the way I interpreted it, you have the right to say whatever nonsense bullshit you want about your entire state, not just your county/neighborhood, without fear of reprisal…

Then you are also allowed to cite the source of that bullshit’s occupation in an attempt to disparage anyone that might disagree with you based on, you know, facts instead of “I heard it from a guy…”

But what do I know, not like I live there or anything…

I think Max is still pissed about that higher federal minimum wage in San Francisco.

Good point, I guess I don’t have it too bad since there’s a lot to talk about in New York. I just wish I had the credentials to interpret numbers about states in which I don’t live.

Lord Mensa,

The rich here pay 60% between Fed and state taxes, if you lived here you would have known that.

So would SMH, but since the fool insists to tell me how things how in my own state, I feel compelled to chin check this clown. Keep it up Nate, you’re next.

Ask a New Yorker, they are living the empirical, versus the pundit version.

If you want to talk numbers, those WHO LIVE HERE know that we are tied with Rhode Island for the highest unemployment rate, highest welfare, highest poverty rate, some of the highest taxes in the nation in every category, rated worst business climate 8 years in a row, voted worst run state 2 years in a row, ranked #36 in education, and have a state debt approaching $700 Billion.

But go ahead and tell me about my state, stupid dickfuck, trying to tell me my business.

But he wasn’t arguging what the tax rate was, he was aruging your bullshit claim from your “tax guy” that only 300,000 pay taxes.

You are too stupid for words.

Maximus: only 300,00 people pay taxes in Cali. My tax guy said so.

SMH: umm…that is completely wrong, not even close to being right actually. that guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Here are the numbers that show something completely different.

Maximus: ummmm…you aren’t an accountant and you don’t live in this state…I don’t care what link you posted with the actual numbers, if you lived here yo uwould know the truth. Our top taxpayers pay 60%. Fedreal minimum wage in San Francisco is $15/hour. BOOM CHINCHECK.

I’ve been chin checked harder from my neice playing tea party.

Seriously spit coffee on my keyboard.

You don’t fucking live in my state therefore you have to believe every piece of propaganda about my state I proclaim even when easily shown to be false.

I have lived in Kansas my whole life, I’m here to tell you guys I’m paying 100 percent of all taxes. I’m the ONLY one paying. I think that’s a bunch of bullshit.

If you don’t live here then fuck off with some statistics boys, I live here and I’m telling you I’m the ONLY one paying.

Listen genius, that would be all well and good except for the fact that that wasn’t the claim you made and it wasn’t the claim I disputed. You said that only 300,000 people in California pay taxes. I said you were wrong. And guess what…you were wrong.

It would be a lot better for you if you just dropped this, because the written evidence of what I just described to you is right here in this thread for anyone to see. I don’t know why you continue to flail about but I promise it does nothing but make you look like more of an idiot than is normal for you, especially when you throw in lines about chin checking someone with whom you will literally never have a face-to-face meeting.

Is this a joke?

I disputed a statement of objective fact, not subjective experience. An it had nothing to do with unemployment or business climates or any of the things you’re rambling about here. Here’s what happened:

 1. You said something that wasn’t true.

 2. I showed you that it wasn’t true.

Stop whining like a scolded dog and own up to the fact that you were wrong. Or don’t–it won’t change the obvious fact of what just happened here.

How dare you question what someone from California says about California? It says right in the location…CALIFORNIA! How can one possibly be wrong about something they say when they live in that state?

In light of that bulletproof line of thinking that Maximus has given us (and then, I might add, tucked tail and run once he was shown to be…what’s the word? Wrong), I’d like everyone to know that I was talking to my tax guy the other day and he told me that here in New York, only eleven people pay taxes. The rest are all freeloading. And don’t you dare try to question me if you live out of state, bastards.

Let’s try it this way:

Is anybody still contending that only 300,000 people in California pay taxes?

If so, evidence should be produced that both supports this claim and refutes the evidence I already provided. If not, then I guess it’s settled, isn’t it?

For the record, there are a number of words for somebody who gets into a heated debate, ends up being wrong, and then doesn’t own up.

Hahaha I almost choked reading this. I suppose Maximus is the de facto expert on US drug policy too as he’s the only one on these forums whose acknowledged having his door blown off the hinges before being arrested by DEA. Did you guys know that 75% of Texas’ population are illegal immigrants? I would know, I live here.
