Beating dead horses

Here is an average of the best of the best in crossfit from 2010

Anything but Average(s) : 2010 CrossFit Games Maybe they have improved since then, i dunno.

They are definitely good at everything but would not mildly impress a specialist in any area. I do 12 hours of excel a day and can beat these strength numbers and possibly still the 400m (and we have no idea what they mean by “pullups”). I will say my conditioning sucks though, which is why I am going to try CF for a few months.

Remember: these are the BEST, not AVERAGE TRAINEES. Also, these numbers are SELF REPORTED, so take 10% off the top:

Average 2010 Games Male Athlete
Age: 28
Height: 5’8"
Weight: 188
Max Deadlift: 470

Man, you’re a cunt.

Why are you so mad at fightingirish? He is bashing the sport of crossfit then you bash him personally calling him a fat midget? Come on now. And I will tell you I do the decathlon at a D1 school in college and am nationally ranked for powerlifting 165lbs weight class, and I can tell you crossfit is a sport for gym class heros. Some of the top guys are decent athletes, but thats it. And people act like those guys are world class, the top guys in crossfit are less athletic than the best D3 track athletes in the nation, let alone comparing them to D1/pro athletes.

spk identifies himself with crossfit. Like the goobers that identify themselves with a particular religious and/or political organization (and we all know how crazy those fuckers can get).

An attack on on crossfit IS an attack on spk as far as he sees it.

spk and his ilk are “muncs” (man cunts), so insecure about who and what there are, that anything that is not part of their little religious world view (religion, sports, training et al) gets their girdle up in a tizzy.

Yeah, crossfitters are like a jack(off) of all things, master of none.

They like to fool themselves into thinking that they are prepared for anything…

nice to know that similar to the republican party these idiots are still living in the '50s.

1850’s that is . . .

And calling people a c*nt is mature and adult??

This thread is now:

Party A) People involved with Crossfit are the stupidest fucking people on the planet
Party B) Anyone who badmouths Crossfit is a jealous loser.

Replace “Crossfit” with “Justin Bieber,” and you’ve got yourself a conversation I have 3 times a week with my little sister.

So when you have these conversations with your sister, are you for Bieber or against?

Kinda depends on what he’s wearing and how easy it is to find shirtless photos of him that week.

In B4 “This isn’t Crossfit!”

From what Ive read, that is the programming that a lot of the top guys follow now. So, if its not crossfit, its better than crossfit at crossfit haha.

My favorite named workout I have seen is King Kong:

3 Rounds for time of
-1 DL @ 455
-2 Muscle ups
-3 Squat Cleans @ 255
-4 Hand Stand Push Ups

A few points:

  • The vast majority of CF affiliates program substantial strength components into their training sessions. A one hour session with a 15 minute metcon is not being padded with 45 minutes of foam rolling and paleo recipes. Usually there are 5x5 or 1 rep ladders. And yes, a good number of affiliates use periodization. Those assuming that crossfit.com programming is representative of mainstream and modern CF training are poorly informed.

  • What constitutes a “sport” is entirely arbitrary. Here’s Merriam-Webster: “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature”. By this standard, CF is a sport, ridiculous arguments about popularity and methodology notwithstanding.

  • These movements, still common in CF, are stupid: Kipping pullups, high rep bounding box jumps, sumo deadlift high pulls, and high rep olympic lifts in general.
