Big Burger Challenge

Question:
why 2 litres of water or, you mentioned it before, eating lots of oatmeal beforehand?

From my humble pov, this seems counterintuitive.

The whole competitive eating seems to not even reached it’s own golden age. (Kobayashi will perhaps one day be the japanese competitive eating equivalent of Sandow?)
Today’s know-how of massive munching sounds so vague to me I cannot help but wonder if it has even reached bro-level science or is stuck at pre-bro.

I mean, around fin-de-siecle, a person looking to build his body would get to hear all kinds of bizarre advice.
Barbell + weight progression was, as a concept, way more exotic then it is today.

Or am I just that clueless and 2 litres of water & a big bowl of oats is already a legit, time tested method like 20 rep squats?

most competitive eaters will drink 1 gallon of water as fast as possible to expand their stomach. if you try that right now you will rip your stomach open or puke, so dont try. but, you can start training your stomach to be larger and larger with water until the volume challenges are easy. They did a documentary on Eater X, and found his stomach is easily 4 times larger then a normal americans stomach, who’s already very large. Kobyashi is the same way, it also helps they are skiny, the fat around the midsection limits how much your stomach can expand, if you see kobyashi eat the 10 pounds of food, when he is done, he looks like Luffy from the cartoon and you feel like you could proly roll him really well…
