Sorry, semi-wall of text. Cliffnotes at the bottom.
Alright, I realize Nards recently had a thread where many aspects of food challenges were discussed. I’m lazy enough that no, I don’t want to use the Search function and blah, it’s probably a thread with a lot of filler IIRC. So bear with me.
I’ve decided to undertake a big food challenge around here, a 7-lb burrito consisting of 5 lbs of grilled potatoes, 12 eggs, ham, cheese, chile, whatever. I know the guy from Man vs Food tried it early on and failed, so it makes it a little more daunting.
I do consider myself to have, in all honesty, a fairly epic appetite. I’ve gotten a good grasp for what normal people, as well as meatheads consider to be a good amount of food, and I would typically say it’s nowhere near my capacity. No bragsies, but I’m just trying to be realistic for the sake of the discussion. My hunger has always been pretty remarkable, to say the least.
That being said, for those who know about preparing for these, or have: What do you feel is the best strategy in the days going in to the challenge?
I want to give myself the best chance possible, especially since I have to drop $20 on the big hoss. What I was considering doing was getting fairly depleted in the day or two before. Evening doing some sprints the night before as well. Fast afterwards, and through the morning. I happen to have a particular thing that I can use that makes me VERY hungry, especially as time passes and I use more of that item. So I figure, if I did that and then showed up to the restaurant ravenous, would that be my best chance?
But then, perhaps small, frequent rabbit-meals high in fiber, lower in fat would maybe be good? I don’t know!
