You have got to be one calm, cool, and collected motherfucker to not completely lose your shit when you’re being tossed around underwater just hoping to pop to the surface after being engulfed by a wave like that.

I surfed a fair bit when I lived in San Diego and got held under by a few 10 footers (or maybe even smaller) such that I seriously thought I might drown. I can’t even imagine how powerful that wave is or what it must be like getting held under by it.

Yep I can recall that exact feeling, when you’re finally re-oriented and can see the surface but by then, you’re basically out of air.

I think it was at San Onofre for me, and I’ve never felt much/any desire to get back out there since.
