Progressive ideals progress society forward, conservative ideals try to conserve the traditional values of the past. As an oversimplification, the two work together to keep society slowly progressing forward.
Women’s suffrage, gay marriage, public schools, govt subsidies, etc were all progressive policies.
Democrats didn’t try try to violently and extralegally overthrow the last presidential election. Democrats also haven’t spent the last 4 years trying to undermine the electorates faith in our election system (despite all evidence saying it works really well). MAGA has done all of that.
The current GOP is very communist. Trotsky and Zinoviev would feel right at home in the modern Republican Party recognizing that typical resentful, embittered bolshevism.
