Beta-alanine: When, How Much?

Can anyone tell me how much should I take this as powder and is there any specific time when to take it?

Depends on the company. Read the label.

Actually it’s dependent on how much muscle and fast-twitch muscle you have… Thus its very individual.

Some people only need 1g; I’ve seen others need 22g

22g… what the fudgenuggets

you would literally die from shitting your lungs out. just, don’t.

Why have you decided to use it? How did you arrive at that decision?

On top of that, do people really take it on it’s own?

From what I’ve seen, it’s generally part of a proprietary blend not used standalone

I feel like it’s a supplement that gives enough return for your money. I am already taking creatine and I suppose they have good synergy.

So to determine the right doze, I’ll go the point where my skin gets tingly and back off a little?

Just about ALL worthwhile supplements are sold on their own IMO. Personally, I feel like it shits all over creatine. Yeah creatine will give you some pounds of water weight, but beta-alanine will give you 2-3 extra reps. That increased performance leads to increased gains over time.

Not to mention it is a pre-cursor to carnosine, which has anti-glycation properties. In other words, it seems to be anti-aging in nature.

So performance AND health benefits…sounds like a no-brainer to me.

They did it all for the tingles.

Wow, no one has answered his question…

Try 5g 10-20 minutes pre-workout. I take it alone, sometimes with creatine and/or NoXplode (which has some BA in it too).

I take 10g preworkout (bear in mind am about 240lbs)

i use a teaspoon-full, slightly heaping. Its enough to get the tingles so that is how i kind of gauge whether ive taken enough. Good stuff, lactic acid buffer primarily (by being a precursor to carnosine), although I have also heard that has a synergistic affect with creatine.

They sell a great Beta Alanine supp here on T-Nation, and it comes with dosing instructions. Check it.

Also, its in Anaconda if you are using that.
