Best Supplements

I’ve been lifting for over 2 years now. I feel its time i start taking some suppleements. I’m training for basketball and track ( sprinting and high jump are my main events). So far i’ve been taking optimum whey protein and muscle milk. I’m sure they’re not the best any suggestions from more seasoned supplement takers? thanks in advance.

How old are you?

Biotest makes good proteins for many purposes.

Creatine is a good choice.

And fish oil is good for general health.

The Biotest/Tmuscle store has all that.

i am 17 years old and i don’t know why but i have a personal dislike of creatine i feel like it’s “cheating” any other supplements and why to take those would be helpful

Surprisingly, I had the same view of creatine when I first started, I felt it had too much hype and that I would ‘lose respect’ if I took it.

Then I slapped myself in the face, hard.

It is only ‘cheating’ if you are part of an organization that rules against it. Since I don’t think any organization exists, it is fair.

You have been taking protein, a naturally occurring compound that helps with strength gains and overall health, it has been isolated from natural sources and is now in powder form for convenience.

Everything above, applies to creatine, found naturally in meats and cranberries, found to help with strength, muscle, and health gains, and has been isolated from natural sources and is now in powder form for convenience.

Although only you can finally decide to take creatine, remember that there is nothing wrong with it at all, unless you have a pre-existing kidney condition (which you don’t, as the protein would have harmed you by now as well) or take it without water, then you will cramp.

All those who say that your gains aren’t ‘legit’ since you are using creatine, are retarded, and shown by saying that, that they are not entitled to an opinion on the matter.

For the sprinting/high jump you could look into some Powerdrive or Alpha GPC, both of which can help you recruit more muscle fibers and increase your power output, might help in those events. The creatine would also be a benefit here as it’s consumed during very short, very intense bouts of exertion. So I’d think the more of it you’ve got hanging around the more fuel you’ve got for that system.

Otherwise definitely the fish oil, and I’d look into a product like Surge to keep your glycogen stores up.

Bonez’s suggestions have been my staples as well for years. And by the way, Creatine occurs in meat, fish,… you name it. Think about all of the old school athletes who ate so much meat (why was babe Ruth so great at whacking that baseball?! explosive power output, possibly helpful for a sprinter or jumper maybe?). If making sure your diet is optimal is ‘cheating’, then get used to finishing in the rear.

Biotest’s creatine is good and really cheap

Just be careful with when you take creatine and experiment w/ your bodys reaction

If I use it in season when I’m sprinting a lot I get cramps… and I drink plenty of fluids/electrolytes. Thus I consider it an offseason supp

Like zraw said, Biotest’s creatine is about as inexpensive as it gets without sacrificing quality.

Creatine’s hardly “cheating” either and only folks who don’t know what the fuck it is will warn you heavily about how dangerous it is.

It’s not like it adds 50lbs to your squat overnight, it should be a staple supplement in every lifter’s cabinet.
