Best Strength Sport for Strength?

What do you guys personally think is the best way to build absolute unmistakable strengh with weights. Not talking about sport specific. Just real life superman.

Various set/rep schemes with differing loads for a long period of time.

Strongman training seems to produce some pretty strong guys. Nothing more applicable to real life strength than carrying heavy things. Also most seem to be able to bench/squat/deadlift respectable numbers

No sport is going to be ideal for this situation. Sports are about getting better at/winning the game.

You put the best heavy weight strongman,powerlifter,bodybuilder ,oly lifter and crossfitter in a cage and you tell them to tear each other or they all die. Who wins?

How big of a cage are we talking here?

5 meter square ,4 meters high

Okay so 5 meters square is only 2.25 meters per side of our deathmatch cage, so the quarters will be cramped once you stuff the heavy weight strongman, powerlifter, body builder, oly lifter and crossfitter in there together.

The cage is also quite tall, so in this particular deathmatch I would favor the crossfitter’s agility and conditioning to quickly climb up to the 4 meter ceiling and simply hang out, watching as the carnage unfolds below him, then dropping on top of whoever the last man standing is, finishing him off with high repetition strikes, like 40-50 in a continuous set.

So there ya go, the answer is crossfit. Find a box and get to work.

I think things would be less confusing if we used cubits instead of meters.

I think it would be best to abandon the cage and put the strength athletes into a circular pit 10 fathoms deep and twenty two cubits in diameter.

I thought you wanted to know what type of strength training produces the strongest men. Are you actually wanting to know what type of training produces the best fighters?

You’re right of course. We’re also overlooking some seriously strong guys, like highland games competitors, a pair of Samoan dudes, and some big fat bikers over 50 who’ve got legit old man strength. Any one of those guys could stand at the top of the heap once the whistle blows and the orgy of destruction commences down in the pit.

First sentence yes. The fighting thing was more of a random joke thing.

I think that practice makes perfect. You should practice the things that you personally believe equate to ‘real strength’. If that includes dynamic movements like clean and jerks, and snatches, do those. If you think the powerlifts are real strength, do those. If you think 1000 lbs yoke carries are a real strength indicator, do those.

At the end of the day, so many people define strength so differently that you just have to pick and choose the things you value. There’s no universal right answer.

So all that being said, my preferred way of training, and one I think accomplishes many strength goals, is training strongman events once a week or so, and spend 3 or 4 days a week on basic barbell movements like squat, bench, and deadlift, along with standard accessory work. That’s how I approach strength training.
